The Department of Commerce is seeking a refund for Akmal's cancelled concert 09.12.2025
Since November 18, 2025, the Department of Trade and Consumer Protection for the North Kazakhstan Region has received over 100 complaints from citizens regarding the cancelled concert of singer Akmal, scheduled for October 25, 2025, in Kostanay.The customers purchased tickets through the eventticket.kz online service, confirming the conclusion of a contract for the provision of paid services electronically. However, the concert never took place, and the organizer has not refunded the consumers.After reviewing the complaints, the Department identified violations of consumer protection laws. An official notice was sent to the individual entrepreneur who organized the concert, demanding a full refund of the ticket price to all affected consumers. The number of divorces has decreased in the Abay region 09.12.2025
The Abay region has seen a decrease in divorces over the first 11 months of 2025.From January to November of this year, 2,772 marriages and 464 divorces were registered in the region. Central Asia Breaks Tourism Records as Regional Travel Surge Accelerates 09.12.2025
Central Asia is experiencing a tourism boom, with the region welcoming 28.6 million foreign visitors in 2024. The rapid expansion reflects the region’s natural and cultural richness, targeted government efforts to transform tourism infrastructure, simplify travel, and expand international connectivity.Kazakhstan continues to anchor the regional surge with sharp increases in both international and domestic arrivals. In the first half of 2025, the country welcomed 7.5 million foreign tourists, including 5 million who stayed longer than 24 hours.For all of 2024, the total number reached 15.3 million visitors, accelerating the country’s tourism ambitions.According to the country’s Tourism Industry Committee, in 2024tourism facilities generated 151 billion tenge (approximately US$318 million), a 25% year-on-year increase. The strongest inflows came from China, India, Türkiye, Germany, and South Korea, driven by visa-free regimes, expanding air routes, and growing interest in Kazakhstan’s nature and cultural heritage.Domestic tourism has also surged, reaching 10.5 million travelers in 2024, nearly one million more than the previous year. The report shows that China topped inbound arrivals with 655,000 visitors, followed by India with 146,000, Türkiye with 130,000, Germany with 92,000, and South Korea with 40,000.Kazakh Tourism noted in a written comment for The Astana Times that the country operates a fully automated dual licensing system for outbound and inbound tour operators. Professional tour guides, who must undergo state-certified training, now number more than 400 nationwide, with one-third based in Almaty.Eco-tourism and cultural tourism continues to riseThe Kyrgyz Republic has strengthened its reputation as a destination for eco-tourism and active outdoor travel. In the first six months of 2025, the country received nearly 5 million foreign visitors, compared to 8.86 million for all of 2024.Nearly 90% of arrivals came from other Central Asian countries, especially Uzbekistan, reflecting the growing popularity of short-term cross-border trips and nature-based tourism.Uzbekistan continues to establish itself as the cultural heart of Central Asia, with Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva serving as the region’s leading heritage destinations.According to the National Statistic Committee of Uzbekistan, in the first nine months of this year, the country recorded an impressive 49% increase over the previous year, welcoming 7.5 million foreign tourists.Most visitors arrived from neighboring countries, including 2.1 million from the Kyrgyz Republic, 1.76 million from Kazakhstan, and 1.7 million from Tajikistan as a direct result of effective global promotion of Uzbekistan’s historical landmarks.According to the State Border Service of Azerbaijan, Kazakh citizens accounted for 4% (87,804 people) of total arrivals to the country in the first ten months of 2025. On the eve of the 34th anniversary of Kazakhstan’s Independence, a solemn ceremony was held at the United Nations Office at Geneva to mark the reopening of the renovated Kazakh Room (Room XIV).Opening remarks were delivered by Kazakhstan’s Permanent Representative to the World Trade Organization and international economic organizations Mr. Kairat Torebayev; Director-General of the UN Office at Geneva Ms. Tatiana Valovaya; and Deputy Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Ms. Ugochi Daniels. Special tax regime (STR) for the self-employed: what is changing 09.12.2025
The new Tax Code introduces a simplified STR regime for people with small incomes and those who work without employees, including those employed through platforms. Who the SТR is suitable for:- Not a sole proprietor;- without employees;- the activity is included in the list authorized by the Government;- income up to 300 MRP per month (≈1.3 million tenge in 2026). What gives SТR:- no need to register as an IE;- income tax - 0%;- only one mandatory payment - 4% social payments (pension, medical insurance, social security);- no reporting is required;- everything is conducted through a special mobile application: checks, income accounting, automatic calculation of social payments;- if working through a platform - social payments are transferred by the operator itself. From November 25 to 28, 2025, an official meeting between delegations from the Unified Accumulative Pension Fund of the Republic of Kazakhstan (UAPF) and the State Social Protection Fund under the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SSPF) was held in Baku as part of an experience exchange program. The program included presentations of the two countries' social protection and pension systems, and a discussion of digital services and administration mechanisms. The UAPF presented an overview of Kazakhstan's funded pension system, the demographic situation, the digitalization of pension services, and Kazakhstan's position in international pension ratings. The UAPF also provided information on the "National Fund for Children" project, a socially significant project for the country, in which the UAPF acts as the operator for recording target requirements, assets, savings, and implementing targeted savings payments. The Azerbaijani side was particularly interested in Kazakhstan's experience in digitalizing pension services, which allows citizens to access virtually all services remotely. UAPF's digital services provided the basis for exchanging experience on modern solutions, automation, and improving service levels for pension fund depositors in the two countries. The delegations also visited the SSPF's central branch for social benefits, as well as the Agency for Sustainable and Operational Social Security (DOST) and the DOST Inclusive Development Center, where they learned about Azerbaijan's innovative solutions for providing state social services and supporting various categories of citizens. Following the meeting, the parties also signed a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at strengthening cooperation and expanding professional collaboration in the field of pension provision across a wide range of areas, including the exchange of information on changes to pension legislation and ongoing reforms, the sharing of experiences in digital technologies in the pension system, and joint expert research. UAPF was founded on August 22, 2013 on the basis of GNPF APF JSC. The founder and shareholder of the UAPF is the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan represented by the State Institution Committee of State Property and Privatization of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Trust management of UAPF pension assets is carried out by the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Kabul, December 8, 2025 – Yerkin Tukumov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Afghanistan, Ambassador–at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, carried out a working trip to Afghanistan on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, aimed at implementing the instructions of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who attaches special priority to the development of constructive cooperation with Afghanistan and its involvement in regional processes.During the trip, Y.Tukumov held a number of meaningful meetings with the Afghan leadership, including Minister of Foreign Affairs A.
