On November 14, 2024, the First meeting of Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States member States responsible for environmental protection and ecology took place."Our meeting marks an important step towards strengthening cooperation and joining efforts in combating the environmental challenges facing the OTG region," Minister Ye.Nysanbayev.He stressed the importance of concerted efforts in addressing environmental issues at the regional level, paying special attention to the problem of accessibility and quality of water resources, the implementation of climate initiatives, the conservation of biodiversity, in particular rare and endangered species, etc.During the event, the Parties exchanged views on combating the environmental challenges facing the OTG region and confirmed the importance of regular meetings to discuss joint actions and areas of cooperation within the OTG.During the meeting, the Parties signed a Declaration aimed at strengthening cooperation on environmental issues, including the development of long- and short-term strategies and policies of the Turkic states in the field of ecology, biodiversity and climate change, as well as the exchange of information, experience and best practices on effective management of protected areas, etc.The Parties also expressed their intention to establish a Working Group at the expert level to support the implementation of the decisions specified in the Declaration.At the end of the meeting, the Minister noted that the next meeting of ministers of the OTG countries is planned to be held in Kazakhstan in 2025.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/ecogeo/press/news/details/883252
