Kazakhstan will receive about 11 billion cubic meters of water through the Syrdarya River by April next year. Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov agreed on this with representatives of Central Asian countries.He represented the interests of the country at the 87th meeting of the Interstate Coordinating Water Management Commission (ICWC). The meeting was held in Ashgabat (Turkmenistan).The meeting was also attended by the heads of the water departments of Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. The Kyrgyz side acted as an observer.Thus, 11 billion cubic meters of water are expected to enter the Shardara reservoir by April 1. This will allow to accumulate the necessary amount of water for the 2025 irrigation season in the southern part of the country.In addition, the meeting participants approved forecast schedules for the operation of reservoirs in the basins of the Syrdarya and Amudarya rivers, as well as water supply limits for Central Asian countries for the autumn-winter period 2024-2025."This year, thanks to negotiations and joint actions, we have ensured the efficient distribution of water in the Syrdarya River basin. I would also like to positively note the joint work done following the 86th meeting.
