Tears, Amnesty, and Photos of Granddaughters: How a 49-Year-Old Woman from Kazakhstan's EKR Got a Second Chance 14.08.2025
Tears, Amnesty, and Photos of Granddaughters: How a 49-Year-Old Woman from Kazakhstan's EKR Got a Second ChanceHer life was split into "before" and "after" by a single thoughtless act. But today, a 49-year-old Kazakhstani woman, who was serving time for fraud, has turned that page. She became the first woman in the East Kazakhstan region to be released under amnesty. Her cherished dream came true right in the courtroom. Thanks to the amnesty, she will return home five months earlier than planned. In the minimum-security prison, where she served her sentence and worked in the household block, her days were filled with laundry and ironing. But every evening, she performed the same ritual: before bed, she would pull out a few worn photographs. They were of her granddaughters. The woman would kiss their faces, dreaming of the day she could braid their hair, take them to school, and simply be with them. According to her, these photos were her talisman and her only hope. The path to freedom was paved not only by her remorse but also by the hard work of the prison staff. The head of her unit personally oversaw the collection of all the necessary documents for the amnesty, bringing her one step closer to her goal. Thanks to this meticulous and systematic work, Aizhan (name changed) was given her second chance. When the judge announced the decision, her emotions overflowed. Through her tears, she managed to say:"Finally, my dream will come true—I'll see my children and granddaughters! I want to be with them. I will never repeat such mistakes. The law is the law, and I have served my punishment. Today, I'll buy a ticket to Astana, to go home."On that day, she addressed all Kazakhstanis with a heartfelt warning:"Don't make reckless decisions. It's not worth it."This story is not just news about a release. It's a story of faith, hope, and how, even behind bars, you can find the strength to start all over again. Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/duis-vko/press/news/details/1050983?lang=kk

Taza Qala — a new step for Shymkent youth in forming an ecological culture 11.08.2025
A manifestation of the love and caring civic attitude of the young generation of Shymkent for their city. This initiative is not a one-time Sabbath, but a public appeal to form an ecological culture by cleaning the city every Saturday. The city's youth and activists have incorporated these actions into their life principles, making cleanliness a common goal and responsibility the main task. Every Sabbath in Shymkent is a clear sign that does not detract from the beauty of the city. Participants not only clean the streets, parks, and ditches, but also tidy up the area around garbage cans and windbreaks, and help create a safe and comfortable environment for city residents to relax in residential areas. The special feature is that the action is held on a voluntary basis. The city's youth come to the Sabbath at their own pace, participate with special equipment, and with a social intention to address topics of environmental importance. Not only that, but they are respected and supported by the akimat, schools, universities, and public organizations, both materially and organizationally. Looking back at past experiences, the “Clean Kazakhstan” initiative has also been actively implemented in other large cities of Kazakhstan. For example, in 2025, cleanups were held simultaneously in five districts of Shymkent: cleaning the courtyards of apartment buildings, pedestrian paths, ditches, and public places - everything was aimed at developing an ecological culture. This is different from before - the ability of public relations to self-organize, and activity in the field of ecology has increased. In addition, on September 16, 2023, through the “World Clean Up Day” campaign, young activists from Shymkent took part in cleaning the territory of the historical town of Sairam. They beautified sacred places and promoted care for the environment. This is evidence that young people were able to connect ecological culture with historical heritage. If in previous years, the clean-up campaigns were mostly based on material work, today's youth strive to raise awareness of ecology at the level of consciousness. They understand the importance of the campaign aimed at protecting not only public places, but also the culture of the city as a whole: they call for proper waste management, sorting, and compassion for nature. Compared to the past, both the volume and effectiveness of modern clean-up campaigns are increasing. For example, in 2025, hundreds of people and about ten pieces of equipment were mobilized in several districts of Shymkent as part of the Clean Kazakhstan campaign, and dozens of tons of garbage were removed. This shows that the quality and results of the work done in this area go hand in hand. And the main focus of the Taza Qala campaign was on the formation of an ecological culture and the formation of an active civic position of young people. They feel their responsibility for the city at this pace. In the eyes of the young people gathered at the clean-up campaign, there is a clean city, clean intentions, and clean actions. For Taza Qala, the city is their favorite environment, and society is their common home. Everyone who supports their initiative and participates in the clean-up is a keeper of Shymkent's appearance and nature. It is no wonder that this initiative has now spread to other districts and become a nationwide movement. Clean-up is not just about cleanliness, it is a civic initiative, a manifestation of the true love and responsibility of young people for their city. Compared to various previous events, Taza Qala is not just a place to be preserved, it is about cleanliness, culture and respect that grow in the hearts of every person. Thanks to such real projects, Shymkent will truly become Taza Qala - a Clean City.
"Taza Qala": Shymkent youth creates a culture of cleanliness 11.08.2025
The environmental campaign "Taza Qala" continues in Shymkent. It has become not just a way for city youth to spend a day off, but a real habit of caring for their hometown. Every Saturday, activists go out to the streets, courtyards and parks to clean up, clear the area of garbage and remind city residents that cleanliness is the result of common efforts. This initiative started as a voluntary movement, but quickly gained broad support. Students, schoolchildren, representatives of public organizations and simply concerned residents unite to make the city cleaner and more comfortable. There is no formal coercion here - participants come at the call of their hearts, arm themselves with gloves, garbage bags and simply do what they think is right. Every Saturday event turns into a small celebration of communication and teamwork. In addition to cleaning, the guys often share environmental tips, talk about proper waste sorting, and offer ideas for improving urban space. Thanks to such events, people begin to look at familiar places differently - they stop being anonymous dots on the map and become a part of the common home. Special attention in "Taza Qala" is paid to the development of environmental culture. Young people do not limit themselves to one-time actions, but try to form a stable habit of caring for the environment in those around them. For this, not only physical garbage collection is important, but also educational work: reminders about the harm of pollution, calls to throw waste in bins, explanations of how recycling helps the city and nature. If we compare with previous years, we can see that the approach to such actions in Shymkent has changed significantly. Just a few years ago, clean-up days were mostly formal: people went out to clean once or twice a year, often by order, and not on their own initiative. Today, everything is different - the movement has become truly popular. Participants themselves coordinate actions, choose places for cleaning, invite friends and colleagues. The experience of 2023 is indicative, when, as part of World Cleanup Day, activists from Shymkent organized a large-scale cleanup in the Sairam settlement area. At that time, the action was not only ecological, but also cultural in nature: by cleaning the territory of the historical monument, the participants emphasized the importance of careful treatment of cultural heritage. This combination of care for nature and respect for history has become iconic. In 2025, Shymkent hosted another large-scale environmental campaign, covering several districts at once. Hundreds of city residents participated in the cleanup, dozens of units of equipment were used, and the volume of garbage removed was measured in tons. Such events show that a city can quickly change for the better if residents act together. However, "Taza Qala" differs from previous actions precisely in its regularity and focus on young people. This is not a one-time burst of enthusiasm, but constant work to improve the urban environment. Young people perceive participation in senbiliks as part of their civic position, and not just a useful activity. It is important that the event unites people of different ages and spheres of activity. Along with students, you can meet married couples who come with their children, or elderly residents who want to contribute to the cleanliness of the streets. Thus, "Taza Qala" has become not only an ecological but also a social project, promoting communication and strengthening ties between residents. It is worth noting separately that each event takes place in a positive atmosphere. After cleaning, participants often have small tea parties or picnics, discuss what can be improved in the next clean-up. This helps to maintain interest in the project and maintain a friendly spirit. If we compare “Taza Qala” with previous cleaning formats, we can highlight three key differences: - regularity, turning a one-time action into a habit; - focus on youth as the main driving force; - emphasis on education and the formation of environmental responsibility. These factors allow us to hope that the effect of the campaign will be long-term. After all, the cleanliness of the city depends not only on how many bags of garbage were taken out this time, but also on whether people will throw garbage in bins tomorrow, and whether they will stop leaving waste in nature and in yards. Today, Taza Qala is already perceived as an important part of city life. It is a brand behind which stands an informal but very powerful community of people willing to spend their time and energy for the common good. Perhaps in the future, the movement will go beyond Shymkent and unite activists from other cities. In the meantime, every Saturday you can see groups of young people in gloves, with bags and smiles on their faces on the streets. They know: step by step, yard by yard, park by park, they are bringing their city closer to their dream - to that very image of "Taza Qala", clean, well-groomed and loved by all.
A Clean City in the Hands of the Young People: An Environmental Action Was Held in Abay Park 11.08.2025
A large-scale environmental campaign "Birgemiz: Taza Alem" was held in Shymkent, dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event took place on the territory of Abay Park, where dozens of volunteers cleaned and improved the area, demonstrating that caring for the cleanliness of their hometown is everyone's responsibility. The organizers noted that the main goal of the campaign is not just to clean up the trash, but to form a sense of environmental responsibility in young people and instill love for their small homeland. Students, schoolchildren and young activists gathered in Abay Park early in the morning. They were armed with garbage bags, gloves and great enthusiasm. The participants cleaned the central alleys, the area around the Abay Kunanbayev monument, and the adjacent territory where household garbage often accumulates. They paid special attention to the lawns and flower beds, where they removed not only paper and plastic, but also weeds that interfere with ornamental plants. After cleaning, the young people installed information signs calling for cleanliness and not to leave garbage in public places. According to the participants, such events not only help to restore order, but also unite people. Many noted that after personally participating in the cleanup, you treat the park with greater respect and think twice before throwing a candy wrapper on the ground. The problem of pollution of public areas remains relevant for many cities in Kazakhstan. In Shymkent, as in other megacities, a large number of park visitors leads to the accumulation of garbage, especially in the warm season. The lack of a waste disposal culture and the shortage of bins in some areas aggravate the situation. The "Birgemiz: Taza Alem" campaign has become part of a broader program to form an environmental culture among the population, which is being implemented with the support of the city akimat and public organizations. Such initiatives are not the first to be held in Shymkent. Back in the early 2000s, city authorities and school groups actively organized clean-up days, attracting not only students, but also workforces of enterprises. However, in those years, such events were more formal in nature, and participation was often mandatory. Today's events are distinguished by their voluntary nature and emphasis on educational work. Young people come not on orders, but at the call of their hearts. This suggests that environmental awareness is gradually becoming a personal priority. In 2019, for example, as part of the nationwide movement "Taza Kazakhstan" in Shymkent, more than 500 tons of garbage were collected in one day. But the main problem was that after a couple of weeks, many of the cleaned areas were polluted again. Now the emphasis is on developing the habit of city residents to maintain cleanliness constantly, and not just on the days of the campaigns. According to environmentalists, such events have a long-term effect, especially if they are carried out systematically. Children and teenagers who participate in cleanups grow up with the understanding that cleanliness is not the responsibility of public utilities, but a shared responsibility. In addition, the campaigns help remind adults that parks and squares are not just green areas, but symbols of the city that require careful treatment. The environmental campaign in Abay Park was one of a series of events held in Shymkent this year in honor of the 30th anniversary of the Constitution. At the same time, clean-up days, greening of courtyards and installation of containers for separate waste collection were held in other areas of the city. Young activists plan to expand the format of "Birgemiz: Taza Alem" and hold such clean-ups monthly, covering different parks and squares. The idea of holding educational master classes on waste sorting and recycling right during the campaigns is also being discussed, so that participants receive not only practical, but also theoretical experience. If such initiatives continue to develop, we can expect a decrease in the volume of household waste and an increase in the level of improvement in Shymkent in the future. Environmental culture is not formed in one day - it is a long process that requires joint efforts of the authorities, public organizations and the residents themselves. The "Birgemiz: Taza Alem" campaign in Abay Park showed that young people are ready to take on the role of leaders in this process. This means that the city has a chance to become truly clean and green if everyone remembers: order begins with yourself.
Environmental charity: "Birgemiz: Taza Alem" campaign is a symbol of the modernization of Abai Park 09.08.2025
On August 9, 2025, a special environmental event took place in Shymkent. As part of the republican environmental campaign "Birgemiz: Taza Alem", organized to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the Constitution, a large-scale Saturday was held in Abai Park. Volunteer youth, public activists, representatives of the local akimat and city residents participated in this event, focusing on the common goal of increasing environmental culture and showing compassion for their native city. During the campaign, the park area and the vicinity of the Abai monument were cleaned, garbage and weeds were collected from the flower beds. Participants contributed to improving the environment and creating a comfortable, clean recreation area for residents. This Saturday was not limited to garbage collection, but was aimed at raising the environmental awareness of young people and increasing their love for their homeland. If we recall similar events in previous years, the peculiarity of this campaign is immediately noticeable. For example, in Shymkent in 2024 and 2023, the main task was to collect and remove garbage from various parts of the city. Yes, such cleaning works are important, but they often have a temporary effect and are not enough to deeply form a culture of living in harmony with nature. And the “Birgemiz: Taza Alem” campaign was not limited to physical cleanliness, but aimed to influence the minds of residents. The 2022-2023 Sabbaths were mostly seasonal. After them, within a few weeks, garbage would accumulate on the city streets again, and the situation in green areas would return to the same. It is known that such short-term measures are ineffective. And this 2025 campaign set the goal of laying the foundation for sustainable environmental initiatives. The organizers noted the need not only to hold the Sabbath annually, but also to continue environmental education work in the interim periods. Abai Park is one of the cultural places that is often visited by residents and guests of the city. Cleaning and beautification work here is important not only from an aesthetic point of view, but also from a historical and spiritual point of view. Tidying up the area around the Abai monument is a sign of respect for the great personality. The participation of young people in cleaning and beautifying such facilities increases their civic responsibility. During the weekend, participants discussed ideas for improving the park, not only cleaning, but also installing benches made from environmentally friendly materials, increasing the number of separate trash cans for recyclables, installing a small fountain or sprinklers for refreshing water in the summer, and increasing lighting in the winter. All of these suggestions are aimed at improving the city's ecology and aesthetics. Another important aspect of the campaign is the call for young people to an active civic position. According to the participants, this sabbatical encouraged them not to be indifferent to the fate of their native city and to support any public initiative. The feeling “I am a part of Shymkent” awakened in the hearts of each participant. The basis of this feeling is environmental culture and responsibility. Compared to previous events, the 2025 campaign is distinguished by its high social and educational value. While previous Saturdays were often organized by the akimat or municipal services, this time various groups of society - volunteers, students, and active citizens - came together and jointly implemented the initiative. This is a real example of the unification of public forces. The activity and enthusiasm of the participants showed the true spirit of the campaign. They perceived this event not as just a holiday, but as a symbol of charity and unity for the common good. They proved that environmental charity is not just about collecting garbage, but a systematic activity aimed at leaving a clean and comfortable city for future generations. In general, the "Birgemiz: Taza Alem" campaign has begun a new stage in the environmental movement in Shymkent. This initiative may become an example for other districts and regions in the future. If such regular and targeted events continue, the city will not only become more beautiful, but the attitude of residents towards nature will also radically change. Today's action is a step towards the future. It showed that everyone can contribute to nature conservation and how important this contribution is. The activity and responsibility of Shymkent youth will undoubtedly make a significant contribution to strengthening the ecological culture in the city.
SUBBOTNIK IN SHYMKENT: CLEAN ENVIRONMENT AND CARE FOR IRRIGATION 09.08.2025
On August 9, 2025, a large-scale clean-up day was held in Shymkent as part of the republican environmental campaign "Taza Kazakhstan" ("Clean Kazakhstan"). Employees of city departments and subordinate organizations went to assigned areas to put irrigation systems in order and clear adjacent areas of garbage. From the very morning, the working groups started with the main object of this clean-up day — the city irrigation canals. Specialists and volunteers manually and using equipment removed accumulated garbage, dry leaves and foreign objects that interfered with the free flow of water. This work is of particular importance: a functioning irrigation system is not only the comfort of residents, but also the uninterrupted irrigation of green areas, maintaining the microclimate and preventing flooding during the rainy season. In addition to the canals, attention was also paid to the general sanitary condition of the city. Groups of participants cleared sidewalks, removed weeds along the roads, and collected garbage in parks and courtyards. Specialized equipment was used to remove waste, which made it possible to quickly clear the territory of a large volume of accumulated waste. A distinctive feature of this clean-up day was that the emphasis was placed not only on external cleanliness, but also on the functional state of the city infrastructure. If in previous years, within the framework of such events, attention was mainly paid to cleaning courtyards, landscaping and improvement of public places, then this time the main focus of work was irrigation. For example, in early August, the Yenbekshinsky district of Shymkent also saw a cleanup, but it was more focused on cleaning up streets and public spaces: sidewalks were swept, bus stops were cleared, and dry tree branches were trimmed. Work on irrigation canals was sporadic in those campaigns. On August 9, however, city services focused on restoring the capacity of canals and cleaning them along the entire route. Comparing the current campaign with the events of previous years, it can be noted that over the past two years the format of "Taza Kazakhstan" in Shymkent has become more targeted. If earlier the cleanup was carried out according to the principle of "capturing as much territory as possible", now a targeted approach is important: each cleanup has its own main task - either greening, or liquidation of spontaneous dumps, or improvement of specific areas. This method makes the work more effective and tangible for residents. One thing remains unchanged - mass participation and openness to all comers. In addition to government employees, students, youth organizations, local residents, and business representatives took part in the August 9 cleanup. This creates a sense of personal responsibility among city residents for the cleanliness of streets and common areas. The organizers emphasize that the environmental campaign "Taza Kazakhstan" is not a one-time initiative, but a long-term project designed to instill environmental culture and form the habit of maintaining order in everyday life. Such clean-ups not only improve the appearance of the city, but also contribute to the conservation of natural resources, and strengthen cooperation between the authorities and the population. This year, special attention is paid to the irrigation system, as it is the most important part of the city's ecosystem. Cleaned canals allow rainwater to be drained more quickly, preventing waterlogging and simultaneously providing water for trees, lawns and flower beds. This is especially important for the southern region of the country, where dry weather often occurs in the summer. If we consider the practical results of the clean-up day, we can highlight several key achievements: Blockages in the channels have been eliminated, which will improve water drainage and irrigation. A significant amount of household and natural waste was collected and removed. The areas adjacent to the canals have been landscaped, which will reduce the risk of re-cluttering. Such events, according to experts, should be held regularly, and not just as part of calendar events. And in this regard, Shymkent already has positive dynamics: in 2024 and 2025, the city held more than 20 large-scale cleanups, covering various areas - from landscaping to preventing water pollution. Residents who took part in the clean-up day note that such actions unite people and allow them to feel their personal contribution to the development of the city. When a person has cleaned up a section of the street or helped clean a canal, they will not pass by garbage indifferently next time. Senbelnik on August 9 became another step towards creating a cleaner, more convenient and environmentally friendly Shymkent. And although it is still far from ideal cleanliness, it is precisely such systematic measures that give the city a chance not just to clean up once, but to consolidate the result for years to come. In conclusion, the organizers thanked all the participants and reminded that the cleanliness of the city is a joint effort and shared responsibility. Shymkent has many more such events ahead, and each of them will be aimed at making the city cleaner, greener and more comfortable to live in.
CLEAN KAZAKHSTAN WEEKEND: CITY ACTION IN IRRIGATION AND ECOLOGICAL PROTECTION 09.08.2025
On August 9, 2025, a large-scale clean-up was held in Shymkent as part of the republican environmental campaign "Clean Kazakhstan". Employees of the department and subordinate institutions actively participated in this event, carrying out cleaning of irrigation systems and street-construction areas in the city. Also, action in extreme situations demonstrates their social and environmental importance not only in our country. On Saturday morning, working youth and environmental officials in Shymkent gathered at a designated location and began cleaning irrigation canals. The bottomless pits along the canals were cleared and work was carried out to restore unobstructed water flow. This step will contribute to the effective functioning of the irrigation system in the city and ensure the cleanliness of agricultural irrigation and urban irrigation canals. In addition, during the Saturday, law enforcement and construction workers, youth organizations, and volunteers collected garbage, weeds, and dead bushes near houses, contributing to the improvement of residential areas. Such initiatives help to renew the appearance of the city and maintain sanitary cleanliness. The teams, reinforced with equipment and truck alarms, cleaned the area and removed the garbage to the designated place. Compared to previous experiences, this time the campaign focused on special works aimed at the irrigation system, unlike the one held in the Enbekshi district on August 6, 2025. Previous campaigns focused mainly on garbage collection, cleaning bus stops, pedestrian paths, and trees. For example, during the cleaning event in Enbekshy district, residents and employees of institutions were limited to cleaning the yards around houses, cutting dead branches, sweeping the road, and washing bus stops and sidewalks. However, in the current cleanup, systematic work focused on irrigation channels, efficient use of equipment and resources, demonstrates a new requirement and new quality. In addition, taking into account the experience of previous years, the "Clean Kazakhstan" campaign, in addition to forming an ecological culture in the country, increases the level of cooperation between state bodies and public institutions. Shymkent clean-up days are held frequently, and each district is organized centrally. Each campaign increases the activity of residents and strengthens the reliability of public services. It should be noted that Sabbilik is not just a one-time social event, but an ongoing public project. In the future, this initiative will continue, and the work on cleaning every remote corner will be intensified. Attracting volunteers, schoolchildren, and civic activists, irrigation and cleanliness will be combined with environmental education at the table of events aimed at raising public awareness. In general, the August 9th Sabbath is not just a "cleaning day", it is a reflection of the sustainable development of the city and a society that has taken a step towards environmental responsibility. By coordinating the cleaning of irrigation canals and garbage collection, the department and employees of the institution largely improved the ecological quality of public infrastructure and contributed to maintaining the ecological peace of the population. Always, the Sabbath is a harmonious activity between society and the authorities. And today's Sabbath proved that the quality of environmental activities is increasing through the "Clean Kazakhstan" campaign.
Environmental situation in Shymkent: rivers are being polluted, garbage dumps are increasing 11.08.2025
Comprehensive environmental studies conducted in Shymkent in August raised concerns about the state of natural water bodies and the city's territory. One-time water samples were taken from the Koshkarata, Karasu, Badam, and Sairamsu rivers, as well as the Kos-diirmen, Togys, Tekesu, and BMC canals, and found that they contained pollutants that were much higher than the permissible norm. Of particular concern to environmentalists is the Koshkarata River. This river is not only an important part of the city's ecosystem, but also a favorite vacation spot for residents. About six thousand people swim here during the week, and on weekends this figure almost doubles. However, as the number of vacationers increases, the amount of garbage here also increases. During one environmental campaign alone, about 25 thousand tons of garbage were collected and removed from the riverbank. According to Sabyr Balybek, acting head of the city's Ecology Department, the main reason for the pollution of the Koshkarata River is that many houses located along the river are not connected to the centralized sewage system. In addition, the river passes through densely populated areas and the direct discharge of untreated water from irrigation systems also complicates the situation. The situation in other rivers and canals of the city is also not satisfactory. The results of water samples taken from the last points showed that the amount of pollutants exceeded the norm. This highlights the urgent need to improve the city's sewage system, water treatment infrastructure, and water management. In July, a satellite survey was conducted over the city with the support of the Kazakhstan Space Trip National Company and the Department of Ecology. From July 8 to 14, specialists identified 46 illegal garbage dumps. 26 of them are in the Karatau district, the rest are in the Turan and Enbekshi districts - six each, in the Abai district - five, and in the Al-Farabi district - three. Official letters were sent to the district akimats for each identified fact. Although some garbage dumps have been removed, the work on cleaning up the rest is still ongoing. During a joint inspection with the city and district prosecutor's offices, an additional 35 illegal garbage sites were registered. According to the conclusions of the Department of Ecology, a case was initiated against the responsible persons of the akimats of Abay, Karatau and Enbekshi districts under Article 324 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Compared to previous years, it is noticeable that unauthorized garbage dumps and pollution of rivers and lakes are a permanent problem. In the past, several environmental campaigns were held in Shymkent, during which dozens of illegal garbage dumps were eliminated. However, the effect of such measures is temporary, new garbage dumps appear again, and the level of pollution in the rivers remains unchanged. In previous years, the city authorities have implemented projects to improve the irrigation system, clean canals, and install additional filtration facilities. These measures have significantly improved water quality, especially in areas close to agricultural lands. However, in recent years, the load on the irrigation network has increased, and wastewater flow control has become inadequate. A separate problem is the discharge of domestic wastewater and garbage from private homes and businesses directly into rivers and canals. While in the past, in such cases, the emphasis was often on garbage collection, now experts are emphasizing the need to build a centralized sewage system and modernize existing treatment facilities. Experts believe that raising the environmental awareness of residents also plays an important role in keeping rivers clean. Cities that understand the value of water resources have significantly fewer cases of illegal dumping and coastal pollution. Therefore, the environmental situation in Shymkent requires urgent and comprehensive measures. Not only the elimination of garbage dumps and cleaning of rivers and lakes, but also long-term solutions - the construction of sewerage systems, the modernization of irrigation infrastructure, and the strengthening of wastewater control - should be the main focus. As the experience of past years has shown, positive results can be achieved through systematic work. For example, in 2018–2019, as a result of the joint work of ecologists and municipal services, the level of pollution in some canals decreased, and a number of garbage dumps were completely eliminated. However, constant monitoring and a lack of sufficient funding did not allow these achievements to be maintained for a long time. Today, the city faces the task of restoring the ecological condition of not only the Koshkarata River, but also other water bodies and ensuring their cleanliness in the future. This requires coordinated action by environmental services, akimats, law enforcement agencies and city residents. Only an integrated approach will solve current problems and prevent their recurrence.
Environmental situation in Shymkent: rivers under threat, landfills multiplying 11.08.2025
In August, large-scale environmental studies were conducted in Shymkent, which revealed an alarming picture of the state of the city's water bodies and the territory as a whole. Single measurements of water in the Koshkarata, Karasu, Badam, Sairamsu rivers, as well as in the Kos-diirmen, Togys, Tekesu and BMK canals showed a significant excess of permissible standards for pollutants. The Koshkarata River is of particular concern to experts. This body of water is not only an important element of the city's ecosystem, but also a popular recreation area for city residents. About six thousand people swim here on weekdays, and almost twice as many on weekends. However, as the number of vacationers grows, so does the amount of garbage. During one environmental campaign alone, about 25 thousand tons of waste were collected and removed. According to the acting head of the city's ecology department, Sabyr Balybek, the key reason for the pollution of the Koshkarata is the lack of connection of many residential buildings located along the riverbed to the centralized sewerage system. The river's passage through densely populated areas and the discharge of wastewater from irrigation systems also have a negative impact. The situation with the canals and other rivers of the city is also far from favorable. Samples taken at the end sections showed an excess of pollutants, which indicates systemic problems with water drainage and wastewater treatment. In addition, in July, with the support of the National Company "Kazakhstan Gharysh Sapary" and the Department of Ecology, a space survey of the city's territory was conducted. From July 8 to 14, specialists identified 46 unauthorized dumps. The largest number of them was recorded in the Karatau district - 26 points. In the Turan and Yenbekshinsky districts, six dumps were found, in Abay - five, and in Al-Farabiysky - three. For each identified fact, the department sent official notifications to the akimats of the relevant districts. Some of the dumps have already been eliminated, but work on the rest continues. During joint inspections with the city and district prosecutor's offices, 35 more illegal waste storage sites were identified. According to the conclusion of the ecology department, the prosecutor's office initiated administrative cases against responsible persons of the akimats of the Abay, Karatau and Yenbekshinsky districts under Article 324 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Administrative Offenses. Comparing the situation with previous years, it can be noted that the problem of unauthorized dumps and water pollution is chronic. In previous years, environmental campaigns were also held in Shymkent, during which dozens of spontaneous dumps were eliminated. However, without comprehensive systemic measures, the effect of such events is temporary. New dumps appear again, and river pollution continues. Previously, the city government implemented projects to improve the irrigation system, including cleaning canals and installing additional filtering facilities. These measures helped to reduce water pollution, especially in areas adjacent to agricultural land. However, in recent years, the load on the irrigation network has increased, and control over wastewater discharges has remained insufficient. A separate problem is household waste and garbage that gets into rivers and canals directly from private homes and businesses. While previous initiatives focused on garbage collection, now experts emphasize the need to build centralized sewerage systems and modernize existing treatment facilities. Experts also point out that environmental education of the population can play an important role in preserving the cleanliness of rivers. In cities where residents are aware of the value of water resources, the number of violations and the volume of garbage in coastal areas are significantly lower. Thus, the environmental situation in Shymkent requires urgent and comprehensive measures. Not only is it necessary to clean up landfills and clean up water bodies, but also long-term solutions - building sewer networks, upgrading the irrigation system and strengthening control over wastewater discharge. The history of past years shows that with targeted work, tangible results can be achieved. For example, in 2018–2019, thanks to the joint efforts of environmentalists and public utilities, the pollution level of some canals decreased, and some landfills were completely eliminated. However, it was not possible to achieve sustainable results due to insufficient control and lack of permanent funding. Today, the city faces the task of not only returning the Koshkarata River and other water bodies to ecological health, but also preserving their purity in the future. This requires coordination of efforts by environmental services, akimats, law enforcement agencies and the city residents themselves. Only a comprehensive approach can change the situation and prevent a recurrence of current problems in the coming years.
The new fountain at the Ken Baba Park has become a symbol of the renewal of the urban environment of Shymkent 11.08.2025
In early August, a new fountain was installed in Shymkent in front of the central entrance to the Ken Baba Park. This event was not just another element of improvement, but an important part of the complex work to create a comfortable and aesthetically attractive public space. The new object has already managed to attract the attention of city residents, tourists and photographers, because it harmoniously fits into the architectural appearance of the central part of the city. The fountain is made in a modern style: the smooth lines of the bowl, a multi-level system of jets, and light-dynamic lighting create the effect of constant movement and enliven the space at any time of the day. During the day, it pleases with the coolness and play of water, and in the evening it turns into a bright light show, which becomes the center of attraction for city residents. According to the designers, the fountain not only decorates the entrance area of the park, but also serves as a kind of "water portal" welcoming visitors. The Ken Baba Park has long been known as one of the favorite recreation areas of Shymkent residents. It combines shady alleys, play areas for children, attractions and well-kept flower beds. The new fountain has increased the attractiveness of this place, creating another point where families, young people and tourists come. The space in front of it is equipped with comfortable benches, and the paved area allows for small events, concerts or photo sessions. It is important to note that the opening of the fountain became part of a larger city improvement program carried out in recent years. Shymkent is actively updating its parks, squares, and courtyards. At the same time, fountains play a special role in urban design - they not only decorate the space, but also affect the microclimate, increasing humidity and reducing air temperature on hot days. In the southern climate, this is especially important. If we compare the new fountain at Ken Baba with previous projects implemented in Shymkent, we can recall the reconstruction of the fountain at Al-Farabi Square or the renovation of the fountain complex in Abay Park. Unlike these objects, the new fountain is designed with an emphasis on modern dynamic lighting and has a more compact format, which makes it convenient for integration into the pedestrian zone. It creates a cozy atmosphere and does not overload the space with unnecessary architectural elements. It is also interesting to consider the historical aspect: even in Soviet times, fountains in Shymkent were often located near key public buildings and parks, serving as symbols of development and cultural life. However, in the 1990s and early 2000s, many of them were abandoned or dismantled. A new wave of construction and restoration of fountains began in the last ten years, when the city budget began to pay more attention to public spaces. Thus, the current fountain near the Ken Baba Park can be seen as a continuation of this tradition - taking into account modern technologies and design approaches. The impact of such objects on the irrigation and water balance of the city is worth mentioning separately. Fountains in the southern regions, including Shymkent, are not just decorative: they can play a role in the redistribution and partial evaporative cooling of air. Although they use a closed water circulation system, the design also takes into account the needs for technical water supply, as well as the possibility of connecting to the city network. Experience from past years shows that well-designed fountains practically do not create an additional load on water resources, and sometimes - when using rain or technical water - even contribute to its more rational use. Similar events in the past, such as the opening of the fountain in Abay Park in 2018, were also accompanied by improvements to the surrounding infrastructure: paths were renovated, new benches were installed, and lighting was modernized. This comprehensive development of the space increases the interest of city residents in regularly visiting such places and stimulates small businesses - from cafes and street vendors to photographers. The new fountain at Ken Baba continues this approach: it has become part of an attractive urban environment that inspires people to spend more time outdoors. The reaction of city residents to the new object is generally positive. In the first days after the opening, dozens of people could be seen taking photos and videos at the fountain. It has become especially popular with families with children, who enjoy watching the water game and rejoice in the changing colors of the illumination. Some residents note that such objects help preserve the cultural and aesthetic appearance of the city, give it individuality and create a unique image. Thus, the opening of the new fountain at the Ken Baba Park is not just a local improvement, but a step towards the comprehensive development of the city's infrastructure. It combines aesthetic value, functionality and environmental aspects. Comparison with similar projects of previous years shows that the modern approach to creating public spaces in Shymkent is focused on long-term use, energy saving and comfort of residents. The new fountain will undoubtedly become one of the city's calling cards and will continue to delight its residents and guests for a long time.
A new fountain in Ken Baba Park: innovations connected with history 11.08.2025
One of the most famous landmarks of Shymkent is Ken Baba Park. This recreation area, located in the heart of the city, has been a favorite destination for residents and visitors for decades. In the summer of 2025, a new feature of the park was unveiled - a new fountain at the entrance and the restored statue of the "girl who shed her feet." This renovation not only emphasized the aesthetic value of the park, but also highlighted its historical and cultural value. On one of the summer days, which coincided with August 5, the city's residents admired the new fountain. The element that immediately attracted the attention of the public was a sculpture with a delicate composition in the water stream. This is the image of a little girl washing her feet in the water, a familiar and warm sight for Shymkent residents. The sculpture was in the park in previous years, but over time it disappeared. Its return is a sign of respect for the city's history. The architecture of the fountain combines modern elements and classical forms, turning the entrance to the park into a real cultural gateway. When the lighting system is turned on in the evening, the water stream is painted in different colors, becoming a new place of rest for the city's residents. The history of Ken Baba Park stretches back several decades. Initially, this place was one of the main green areas in the city. Over time, elements of an ethnopark appeared in the park, and national architectural symbols were installed. However, after the temporary use of the land was granted in 1999, a number of commercial facilities were built, and the original appearance of the park changed. In 2024, the Shymkent city administration worked through the courts to return the park to state ownership. This decision was supported by the city's residents, because the park is not only a place for recreation, but also a part of the city's culture. By the summer of 2025, an initiative to install a new fountain was implemented as part of the restoration work on the park territory. Ken Baba Park has previously undergone various beautification and irrigation projects. For example, in the early 2000s, small fountains, artificial ponds, and elements of national architecture were installed on the territory of the park. In 2017, several attractions and children's playgrounds were renovated in the park. However, the peculiarity of the new fountain is that it returns a historical symbol. While previous reconstructions were mostly aimed at updating modern infrastructure, this time the main goal was to revive cultural memory. The installation of fountains has not only aesthetic value, but also has an impact on the irrigation system. Water sources in city parks are not only for beauty, but also as an additional source of moisture for greenery. In Ken Baba Park, the fountain water works in a closed circulation system. This is an ecological solution that prevents excessive water consumption. In previous years, some park fountains used running water, which led to a large amount of water being wasted. The current system allows you to recycle filtered water and water plants and lawns. In comparison, in the 2010s, fountains installed in several parks in Shymkent were not connected to the irrigation system. This caused the lawns to dry out in the summer. And the new fountain technology is a modern method that saves water and ensures constant watering of lawns. The opening of the new fountain was warmly received by the city's residents. Comments like "childhood memories have returned" were common on social media. Adults associated the sculpture with their own childhood, while young people were delighted with the new photo spot. Culturally, this renovation is an example of the city's integration with the modern look, without forgetting its past. Ken Baba Park is a reminder that it is not just a place for walking, but also a part of urban culture. The city administration has announced plans to add additional landscaping, upgrade playgrounds, and enhance nighttime lighting in Ken Baba Park. It is also planned to open a small concert venue and a craft fair on the park's territory. These changes are aimed at turning the park into a center for culture and art, rather than just a place to relax. The new fountain in Ken Baba Park is a significant innovation that will highlight the cultural image of Shymkent. It combines the past and the present, tradition and modernity, and brings joy to the city's residents. Compared to projects of previous years, this initiative was not just an architectural innovation, but also a symbol of the restoration of historical justice. In terms of irrigation, the use of a modern water circulation system will increase environmental efficiency and allow the green areas of the park to remain attractive for a long time. If this experience is applied in other recreation areas of the city, water conservation and lawn care will significantly improve. The opening of the fountain in Ken Baba Park is not just the appearance of an architectural object, but an event that has renewed the spiritual breath of the city and has become a common pride of residents.
Shymkent has become cleaner: how Yenbekshinsky district held a large-scale clean-up day 09.08.2025
On August 9, 2025, a major clean-up event took place in Shymkent, on the territory of the Yenbekshinsky district, which can be safely called an example of an integrated approach to the improvement of the urban environment. The initiator was Inteko Group LLP, and the district administration and public utilities provided active support. The main goal of the campaign was not just to remove garbage, but to conduct a deep cleaning of the streets, improve sanitary conditions and create more comfortable conditions for residents. On this day, attention was focused on one of the key transport arteries of the district - Zhankozha Batyr Street. Special equipment was working on site from early morning. Road surfaces and sidewalks were washed under high pressure, dust and dirt that had been accumulating for weeks were removed. At the same time, drainage channels and irrigation ditches were cleaned, which is especially important in anticipation of the autumn rains. At the same time, workers sawed off branches hanging over the road or interfering with pedestrians, removed dry bushes and mown grass. Compared to previous years, the scale and organization of the current event have grown significantly. In 2023, such events were more symbolic in nature - cleaning up garbage along the roads and lightly sweeping the sidewalks, with minimal equipment. Participation was mainly by municipal services, and residents were only weakly involved. In 2024, the first steps towards comprehensiveness appeared - tree planting and landscaping were included in the program, but work on cleaning storm drains, washing roads and trimming shrubs remained episodic. In 2025, the approach became systemic: powerful equipment was brought into the work, several types of work were carried out simultaneously, and the number of participants increased several times. This time the action could be called a real joint undertaking. Representatives of the district akimat, employees of neighboring enterprises and ordinary residents came out together with the employees of the Inteko Group and municipal organizations. Such a unification of efforts not only sped up the process, but also created an atmosphere of community - people understood that they were doing this not "for show", but for the sake of their own street, their yard and the city as a whole. After the clean-up day ended, the street was transformed. Clean and washed roads, neatly trimmed bushes, sidewalks free of trash and branches immediately changed the appearance of the area. It became safer for pedestrians to walk, and more comfortable for drivers to move around. But most importantly, residents saw that cleanliness and order are possible if you work together and take the matter seriously. Such events also play an educational role. Joint cleaning forms a habit in people to value cleanliness and care for the environment. Those who participated in the cleanup are more likely to take care of urban spaces and encourage their neighbors to do the same. The organizers have already announced that they plan to hold such events regularly, expanding the geography of the work and attracting more and more participants. At the same time, attention will be paid not only to garbage collection, but also to more complex tasks: repairing sidewalks, improving the drainage system, installing small architectural forms. Comparing the current campaign with previous years, three key differences can be identified in 2025: Comprehensiveness - garbage collection was combined with street washing, cleaning of ditches, tree trimming and landscaping. Technical equipment - the use of specialized equipment made it possible to achieve high-quality results in a short time. Mass participation - not only utility workers, but also representatives of business, government agencies and ordinary citizens got involved in the matter. The result exceeded expectations. In addition to clean streets, residents received a sense of involvement in improving the city. There was an understanding that everyone can contribute, and joint efforts give a noticeable effect. The clean-up day on August 9 in Yenbekshinsky district became a vivid example of the fact that city order is not only the work of public utilities, but also the responsibility of each resident. If such initiatives are regular, Shymkent will be able not only to maintain cleanliness, but also step by step to become a modern, comfortable and environmentally safe city.
LLP "Group Inteko": Sabbath in Enbekshi district is an example of city cleanliness and cooperation 09.08.2025
On August 9, 2025, a large-scale clean-up was held in the Enbekshi district of Shymkent. This event was organized by LLP "Inteko Group" and implemented with the support of the district akimat and municipal institutions. The goal of the campaign is to ensure the cleanliness of the city streets, improve sanitary conditions, and create a comfortable living environment for residents. During the weekend, extensive work was carried out on Zhankozha Batyr Street. First, garbage was collected from the roadside and sidewalks, gutters and ditches were cleaned. Street washing was carried out using special equipment and high-pressure water. In addition, pedestrian paths were swept and branches that obstructed traffic or were dangerous to pedestrians were cut. This not only improved the appearance, but also increased the level of safety. A distinctive feature of this Sabbath is its comprehensiveness. As in previous years, not only garbage collection was limited, but also measures were taken that significantly changed the appearance of the city. Residents and employees of the institution worked together, focusing on not only sanitary cleanliness, but also aesthetic improvement. Compared to previous years, this year's Sabbath was much larger and more effective.   Although similar campaigns were held in 2023 , they were mostly limited to garbage collection and had low levels of citizen participation. While the city was temporarily cleaner, there were no long-term results.   In 2024 , landscaping and tree planting events were organized as part of the Sabbath, but they were also largely symbolic, with comprehensive street cleaning and the use of technical equipment rare.   In 2025 , the organizers actively used technology, carrying out high-pressure water washing, cleaning ditches, cutting bushes, and completely tidying up the road. This is a systematic and effective approach with immediate results. The composition of the participants in the campaign has also expanded. Previously, such events were mostly attended by representatives of public utilities, but this time employees of Inteko Group LLP, the district akimat staff, employees of neighboring institutions, and ordinary residents also took part. Such a combination increased the sense of shared responsibility in society and helped to form a culture of keeping the city clean. As a result of the cleanup, Zhankozha Batyr Street has changed significantly. The roads have been cleaned, pedestrian areas have been improved, and the sidewalks, cleared of branches and debris, have become safe and comfortable. This view not only provides residents with comfort, but also encourages them to maintain cleanliness. Another important aspect of this year's cleanup is its impact on society. Many residents appreciated the campaign as not just a one-time event, but as an effective tool for promoting environmental responsibility. Joint contributions to cleanliness increased people's respect for each other and strengthened relationships between neighbors. According to the organizers, such Saturdays will continue in the future. The goal is to hold them regularly and improve the results each time by using new methods and techniques. This is an important step towards making Shymkent a clean, comfortable and environmentally safe city. In conclusion, the Enbekshi District Cleanup Day, held on August 9, 2025, was an environmental initiative that advanced from previous years' practices, incorporating integrated approaches and broad participation. It showed the city's residents that a clean environment is possible, and the regular conduct of such events in the future will pave the way for a radical change in the city's appearance.
Large-scale clean-up in Shymkent: the city becomes cleaner and more comfortable 09.08.2025
On August 9, 2025, a large-scale clean-up day was held in Shymkent, organized by the city department for the development of a comfortable urban environment. This event became one of the notable stages in the work to improve the environmental situation, improve and create more comfortable living conditions for city residents. The initiative combined the efforts of government agencies and private partners, which made it possible to cover a significant part of the city territory and attract a large number of participants to the cause. Six public and private organizations took part in the action, providing both labor and the necessary equipment. A total of 986 people took to the streets of the city, including utility workers, volunteers, and business representatives. 132 units of special equipment were used to carry out cleaning and landscaping tasks, which made it possible to simultaneously cover different areas and perform significant volumes of work in a short time. Main streets, parks and squares became the main areas of attention of the clean-up participants. The work included sweeping and garbage collection, washing sidewalks, removing weeds, caring for green spaces and minor repairs to landscaping elements. Particular attention was paid to public spaces where a large number of people visit every day. The organizers emphasize that it is these places that form the visual appearance of the city and influence its perception by residents and visitors. In parallel with the cleaning, landscaping work was carried out: planting and watering trees, caring for flowerbeds and lawns. This allows not only to maintain cleanliness, but also to improve the microclimate in the city, reducing the dust load and increasing comfort in the hot season. In a number of areas, additional shrubs were planted, and on some highways, flower arrangements were updated, which immediately gave the streets a more well-groomed and attractive appearance. If we compare the current clean-up day with similar events of previous years, we can note noticeable progress in organization and scale. For example, just a few years ago, such events were mostly local in nature and covered limited areas, often within one or two districts. The number of participants then rarely exceeded 300-400 people, and the equipment used was several times smaller. Today, clean-up days have become systematic and are planned in advance, which allows for the unification of efforts of various organizations, attracting more resources and making the process more efficient. In the past, there were often difficulties with coordinating actions between services, and cleaning was limited to garbage removal. Now the approach has changed: the work is carried out comprehensively, including landscaping, planting care, minor repairs and even improvement elements. In addition, modern technology is actively used, which speeds up the process and improves the quality of work. An important difference between the current events and previous ones is the active participation of the private sector. Public-private partnerships provide an opportunity to combine efforts and resources, as well as involve a larger number of people. This creates a sense of involvement in changes among city residents, and also increases the responsibility of businesses for the state of the urban environment. The social reaction to the recent clean-up day was generally positive. Many residents note that such events change the appearance of the city and create an atmosphere in which it is pleasant to live and work. City residents increasingly come out to clean their yards and streets themselves, which indicates a growing environmental culture. For comparison, just a few years ago, the population's participation in such events was significantly lower, and the initiative came mainly from public utilities. The organizers emphasize that this cleanup is not a one-time event, but part of a long-term program to create a comfortable, clean and green urban environment. Such events will continue in the future, covering more and more areas. It is planned that in the future such work will become regular and will be carried out not only as part of citywide events, but also at the level of individual blocks and microdistricts. Thus, the clean-up day that took place on August 9, 2025, became a vivid example of how the combined efforts of the government, business and residents can bring tangible results. The city is becoming cleaner, more comfortable and attractive, and the citizens themselves are more active participants in the changes. If this trend continues, Shymkent will be able to reach a new level of improvement and environmental culture, and its streets and parks will delight not only local residents, but also visitors to the city.
Large-scale Shabbat in Shymkent: the city is becoming cleaner and more comfortable 09.08.2025
On August 9, 2025, a large-scale clean-up was held in Shymkent, organized by the Department of Urban Environment Development. This event was one of the important steps aimed at improving the ecological situation in the city, improving it and creating comfortable conditions for residents. Representatives of state structures and the private sector jointly participated in the good initiative, covering a large area of the city and carrying out cleaning work at a high level. Six public and private partner organizations participated in the cleanup. They provided not only labor, but also the necessary equipment. A total of 986 participants, including utility workers, volunteers, and business representatives, went out to clean streets and parks. 132 special equipment was mobilized for cleaning and landscaping, and large-scale work was carried out simultaneously in every district of the city. The main focus was on main streets, parks and flower beds. Participants collected garbage, washed pedestrian paths, removed weeds, maintained greenery and carried out minor landscaping repairs. Particular attention was paid to public places where people gather, as such areas determine the beauty of the city and directly affect the opinion of residents and visitors about the city. Along with the cleaning work, landscaping was also carried out: trees were planted, flower beds and lawns were maintained, and irrigation was carried out. This not only helps maintain cleanliness, but also reduces the amount of dust in the city and increases comfort during the summer heat. In some areas, additional shrubs were planted, and flower arrangements along the main streets were updated. All this immediately gave a new impetus to the appearance of the city. Compared to similar Sabbaths in previous years, this year's event has been significantly improved in terms of scale and organization. Previously, such actions were often limited to a specific area, the number of participants did not exceed 300-400 people, and minimal equipment was used. Today, Sabbaths are held systematically, planned in advance. This allows for the consolidation of efforts of various organizations, the mobilization of more resources, and the effective implementation of work. In previous years, the work was mostly limited to garbage collection, and the coordination of services was poor. Now, an integrated approach is being used in this direction: in addition to cleaning, landscaping, maintenance of greenery, minor improvements and repairs are carried out simultaneously. At the same time, the widespread use of modern equipment speeds up the process and makes the result more qualitative. Another advantage of modern Sabbaths is the active participation of the private sector. Within the framework of public-private partnerships, efforts and resources are combined, creating an opportunity to mobilize more people. This creates a sense of ownership among residents and increases the responsibility of businesses for the cleanliness of the city. The public's assessment of the event was positive. Many residents noted that such actions not only improve the appearance of the city, but also create a pleasant living environment. In recent years, residents have been volunteering to clean their yards and streets more often. Previously, such activity was low, and the initiative was mainly taken by public utilities. According to the organizers, the Saturday event on August 9 is not a one-time event, but part of a long-term program aimed at creating a comfortable, clean and green urban environment. Such events will continue in the future and will cover all districts of the city. According to the plan, these works will be carried out not only on a regular basis, but also at the level of each microdistrict and microdistrict. Thus, the Saturday of August 9, 2025 showed the tangible result of the joint efforts of the authorities, business and residents. The city is becoming cleaner, more comfortable and more attractive, and residents are becoming active participants in the changes. If this trend continues, Shymkent will rise to a new level in terms of landscaping and ecological culture, and its streets and parks will delight not only the local population, but also guests of the city.
Sanitary and landscaping works in Turan district: campaign on August 7, 2025 and comparison with previous years 07.08.2025
On August 7, 2025, a sanitary cleaning and landscaping campaign organized by ShymkentSpetsKompleks LLP was held in the Turan district of Shymkent. This event was an important part of the process of beautifying the city and creating comfortable conditions for residents. In this article, we will delve into the features of the campaign, comparing it with similar work last year. The first part of the event was manual waste collection. 69 employees and 7 vehicles were involved in this work. Household waste was cleaned up on Kozhanov, Zhanibekov, Pavlova, Moldagulova, Ismailov streets. In addition, waste collection was intensified, and a mobile team of 11 people was involved in the night shift to cover additional areas. This approach has a number of features compared to previous years: previously, sanitation campaigns were mostly held in a daytime and single-day format, and night work was not provided. In the field of landscaping, 20 specialists carried out mowing, lawn planting, loosening flower beds, watering and sanitary pruning of trees on Dulati, Kazybek bi, Ryskulov and Kunayev streets. Although previous campaigns focused mainly on landscaping, the systematic implementation of the work is a new level. In addition to lawn planting, tree care and a complete renewal of green areas are also more extensive and comprehensive than the pilot work of previous years. In the section on cleaning bus stops, 100 bus stops were cleaned using high-pressure water jetting. Garbage, dust, and dirty waste were removed from bus stops on Baiterekov, Adyrbekov, Baidybek bi, Ryskulov, Konaev, Zheltoksan, Tauke khan, Beibitshilik, Abai, Gagarin, Mangeldin, Kaldayakov, Zhandarbekov, Otyrar, Bekbolatov, and Aishykty streets. In previous campaigns, bus stops were mostly wiped by hand, and the method of using pressurized water was rarely used. This time, technical capabilities were used comprehensively — this is a factor that increased the quality of the campaign. The main goal of the event is to create a clean, comfortable and green environment for city residents. This goal is aimed not only at external aesthetics, but also at sanitary conditions and environmental comfort. In previous years, there have been significant differences between districts in this goal: sometimes only one or two streets were focused on, and comprehensive work was not always organized. If we recall similar campaigns in previous years, for example, in 2024, only garbage collection and simple street cleaning were carried out within the framework of sanitary Saturdays. Greening work was carried out only symbolically - within the limits of planting flowers and a few trees. And the 2025 campaign was held at a high level as a real, systematic project, effectively coordinating day and night efforts, greening and sanitation at the same time. Another feature of the campaign is the effective use of human resources and equipment to the fullest. 69 employees, 7 pieces of equipment, a mobile team of 11 people, 20 specialists - such a mobilization of personnel was more successfully coordinated than before. Previously, reliance on non-technical means and a small number of people prevented the smooth completion of this work. In addition, the presence of a mobile team working on the night shift has clarified the operational responsibility for sanitation work and allowed it to cover all parts of the city. Previously, campaigns were often limited to daytime hours, and the cleanliness of the city was neglected in the evenings. In comparison, it can be said that the 2025 campaign has been qualitatively expanded and implemented in a planned manner compared to previous years. Instead of planting flowers on just one street, as before, complex work on several streets — mowing grass, planting lawns, sanitary pruning, washing bus stops, cleaning along the street — everything has been integrated into one system. A clean city is a social investment that directly affects residents. As the sanitary condition of the district improves, the general cultural level of residents and their responsibility towards the city also increase. While previous years' campaigns have been held mainly at the social and local level, the scale of this year's event, the number of participants, and the methods used demonstrate the strategic importance of the campaign. In the future, it is important to turn such events into a permanent, systematic, and annual format. Coordination of night and day campaigns, comprehensive landscaping and sanitation, and efficient use of equipment and human resources should be included in the upcoming program. The sanitation and landscaping works in Turan district on August 7, 2025 were of a higher quality and level than in previous years. This is a real example of the city's care, an impressive step that makes residents feel that they live in a comfortable and beautiful city. If such approaches are expanded to other districts of Shymkent in the future, they will undoubtedly have a great impact on the ecology and social culture of the city.
