Shymkent youth supported the republican campaign "Taza Kazakhstan" 01.09.2025
On August 20, 2025, an environmental event took place in Shymkent, which was a continuation of the republican campaign "Taza Kazakhstan". The youth association "Shymkala Zhastary" together with the municipal state institution "Taza Elke" carried out landscaping work in the courtyards of apartment buildings located on Turkestan Street. Volunteers and local residents joined the event. Despite the relatively modest scale, the result was tangible: about one ton of household waste was removed with the help of special equipment. At first glance, a ton of waste does not seem like an impressive figure for a metropolis, but it is precisely these local initiatives that are of great importance. Unlike citywide clean-up days, they affect specific courtyards and streets, which means they provide a tangible result for the people who live here every day. In addition, participation in such events creates a sense of responsibility for their immediate surroundings among city residents. The main value of the initiative is not only in the sanitary effect. It is, first of all, the development of environmental culture. In a modern city, where dense development and active economic activity inevitably lead to an increase in the amount of waste, it is extremely important to involve the population in the process of maintaining cleanliness. The participation of volunteers and young people plays a key role: it is on their shoulders that the task of forming new habits and setting an example for others lies. Similar events are held regularly in Shymkent and have different scales. Thus, just a few weeks earlier, on August 9, 2025, a large citywide cleanup was held in the city. Then thousands of people took part in the cleanup: employees of public services, business representatives, students, public organizations and ordinary citizens. An impressive volume of garbage was collected in each district, dozens of units of equipment were used. For example, in the Enbekshinsky district alone, more than a thousand people and three dozen dump trucks were involved, as a result of which about 75 tons of waste were removed. In the Al-Farabiysky district, almost half a thousand participants collected several dozen tons of garbage. Similar work was carried out in the Karatau and Abaysky districts. The clean-up day held in the summer of 2024 was even more large-scale. More than 150 thousand city residents joined the "Taza Kazakhstan" campaign, and the volume of work performed exceeded all expectations. In just one day, over six thousand tons of waste were removed. In addition, significant attention was paid to landscaping: canals were cleaned, trees were whitewashed and trimmed, new green spaces were planted, and flower arrangements were created. The city was literally transformed in a matter of hours. This experience showed that colossal results can be achieved through joint efforts. If we compare these three actions — the large-scale 2024, the citywide August 2025, and the local initiative on August 20 — it becomes obvious that each of them plays its own special role. Giant cleanup days solve global problems, demonstrate the unity of the city, and serve as a symbol of shared responsibility. Medium-scale events allow us to cover large areas and involve a large number of participants. But such targeted actions as the one that took place in the courtyards on Turkestan Street are aimed at reminding every resident: cleanliness begins at your own entrance, at the house where you live. It is also important to note the educational aspect. The young people who took part in the August clean-up not only helped clean up the area, but also set an example for their peers. In conditions where environmental culture is still being formed, such examples are of great importance. Participation in the clean-up creates awareness: nature and the urban environment are common property, which everyone needs to take care of. You can’t rely only on public utilities if residents themselves do not maintain order. Of particular value is the fact that during such events people of different ages and professions unite for a common goal. For some, this is an opportunity to demonstrate a civic position, for others, to spend time usefully, for others, a way to make new acquaintances and improve relations with neighbors. A common cause unites and creates a sense of community, which is so important for a big city. We must not forget about the symbolic meaning of such actions. A clean yard or street is not only aesthetics, but also health, safety, and comfort. When the garbage is removed, when the trees are well-groomed, when the territory is landscaped, residents develop a completely different attitude to the space around them. They begin to value it more and try to maintain order. Thus, the environmental campaign that took place on August 20 became another step towards the formation of a sustainable culture of care for the environment. Although the volume of garbage collected was incomparable with the results of larger-scale clean-ups, its importance cannot be underestimated. Such initiatives gradually change the consciousness of city residents, educate a new generation for whom cleanliness and environmental friendliness become a natural norm. Shymkent has been growing rapidly in recent years, and along with this, the need for the development of green areas, the improvement of courtyards, and regular street cleaning is growing. The republican campaign "Taza Kazakhstan" gives a good impetus to solving these problems. The main thing is that such events do not remain isolated, but turn into a systemic practice to which every resident gets used. Only then will it be possible to say that the city has truly changed – not only externally, but also internally, in the minds of its citizens.
Cleanup event organized by "Shymkala Youth" and "Taza Olke" KMU 01.09.2025
On August 20, 2025, an ecological event of particular importance took place in Shymkent. On the initiative of "Shymkala Youth" and with the support of the "Taza Olke" municipal state institution, large-scale cleaning work was organized in the courtyards of multi-storey buildings located along Turkestan Street. Volunteer youth actively participated in this day's cleanup, and residents also joined in. As a result, about one ton of garbage was removed using special equipment. At first glance, one ton of garbage may not seem like a big indicator for the city. However, this was a significant step in maintaining the cleanliness of courtyards and streets at the local level. After all, it is from such small initiatives that large movements arise. The main goal of this campaign is to show compassion for the environment, increase environmental responsibility among residents, and form a culture of environmental protection among young people. Especially in recent years, environmental issues have become one of the most relevant topics on the agenda for society. The rapid development of the city, the growth of the population, and the expansion of industrial facilities have increased pressure on nature and increased the volume of household waste. In this context, cleaning campaigns are becoming not only a measure of sanitary importance, but also a means of environmental education. Shymkent has been an active participant in the "Clean Kazakhstan" republican campaign several times before. For example, on August 9, 2025, a large-scale city-wide clean-up was held. On this day, thousands of residents and hundreds of employees of institutions worked together in Enbekshy, Al-Farabi, Karatau and Abay districts. For example, in Enbekshy district alone, more than a thousand people participated and more than thirty special equipment was mobilized. As a result, about 75 tons of garbage were removed. In Al-Farabi district, more than 400 residents gathered and 32 tons of household waste were collected with the help of 14 pieces of equipment. And in other districts, cleaning work was carried out on a similar scale. The peculiarity of this clean-up was that not only representatives of the akimat, utility workers, but also entrepreneurs, various public organizations and ordinary citizens actively participated in it. The action, which took place in June 2024, was even more unique in terms of its scale. At that time, more than 154 thousand Shymkent residents went on a one-day Sabbath, more than 6 thousand industrial and business facilities, and more than 600 social institutions participated. More than 6 and a half thousand tons of garbage were removed from the city streets in one day. In addition, about 9 thousand kilometers of sidewalks were cleaned, and more than 700 kilometers of irrigation systems were restored. During this event, not only cleaning was carried out, but also extensive landscaping work was carried out: hundreds of thousands of trees were whitewashed, sanitary pruning was carried out, tens of thousands of seedlings were planted, flower beds and lawns were landscaped. Even more than a million tulips were planted. Work of this scale was remembered as one of the largest environmental measures in the history of Shymkent. Compared to these historical examples, the cleaning of Turkestan Street on August 20, 2025 was clearly on a much smaller scale. However, its importance does not diminish. After all, while large-scale cleanups are often organized on a city-wide scale, such local events are held with the direct participation of residents of each district and yard. This increases people's desire to keep their homes clean and has a direct impact on everyday life. Cleaning the yards of multi-storey buildings is a concrete example of residents improving their living environment. The activity of young people is also worth noting. Members of the "Shymkala Youth" organization not only participated in the Sabbath, but also set an example for others and promoted environmental culture. Such events instill a sense of responsibility for nature in the younger generation. Although environmental education and upbringing currently begin in school, it is very important to strengthen it through practical activities. When young people collect garbage with their own hands and clean the streets, they become more aware of the state of nature and their desire to protect it increases. Another aspect of this event is its call to unity in society. In ecological actions, people of different ages and social groups come together and work for a common good. This strengthens relationships between residents and increases mutual understanding. Trust is formed between people who have worked together, and they are more likely to support each other in solving everyday problems. In this sense, the clean-up on August 20, 2025, although a small step, has great symbolic significance. This event proves that the environmental movement is becoming not just a one-time campaign, but a permanent process. The large-scale clean-up in June last year, the large-scale sanitary cleaning in early August this year, and the local action on Turkestan Street are all links in one chain. They all have the same ultimate goal: to make Shymkent a clean, beautiful, and comfortable city. In conclusion, each event held within the framework of the "Clean Kazakhstan" campaign is a contribution to the ecological future of the city. The large-scale Saturday 2024, the city campaign on August 9, 2025, and the yard cleanup on August 20 - although different in scale, converge in essence to one goal. These initiatives not only increase the responsibility of residents for the environment, but also instill in young people a sense of love for nature and its protection. Therefore, if such events continue systematically, Shymkent will undoubtedly become one of the cleanest and greenest cities in the country from an ecological point of view.

30th Anniversary of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan 30.08.2025
Astana — Thirty years ago, on August 30, 1995, Kazakhstan’s citizens placed their trust in a new Constitution through a national referendum. That act was more than a legal milestone – it was the birth certificate of a modern state, a pledge that the highest value would be the individual, their rights, and their dignity. For a nation still fresh from independence, these principles were not symbolic flourishes but the very blueprint of governance. They laid the groundwork for domestic reforms, guided legislative development, and signaled to the world that Kazakhstan sought its place among rule-of-law states. From Humanist Provisions to Living GuaranteesThe recognition of human rights as constitutional bedrock marked Kazakhstan’s break from the command-administrative legacy of the Soviet era. Over the decades, institutions grew stronger, mechanisms of accountability more open, and commitments to international norms more credible. The 2022 referendum elevated this trajectory: the office of the Human Rights Commissioner gained constitutional status, joining a circle of democracies where rights watchdogs are enshrined in fundamental law. Ombudsman Artur Lastayev framed this as democratic maturity, pointing to new powers – from monitoring detention facilities to shaping legislative initiatives – that transformed the office from a complaint bureau into a driver of systemic reform. With nearly 7,000 appeals filed annually and a landmark domestic violence law inspired by the Ombudsman’s recommendations, the institution reflects both rising legal awareness and growing trust in the state’s ability to protect.Rule of Law in ActionThe Constitution has shown resilience and adaptability, evolving with the demands of a rapidly changing society. The judiciary has been one of its most visible beneficiaries. Chief Justice Aslambek Mergaliyev underscored that constitutional rights mean little without courts citizens’ trust. Transparency has become a mantra: over 80% of pre-trial investigations are digitized, and 90% of investigative actions are video-recorded, bolstering accountability. At the same time, innovations like the People’s Lawyer campaign and online legal services extend the reach of justice to ordinary citizens – a tangible manifestation of constitutional promises.Central Asia in Constitutional MotionKazakhstan’s journey has not been isolated. Across Central Asia, constitutions are evolving toward openness, inclusivity, and alignment with global norms. Uzbek expert Mirzatillo Tillabayev highlighted the constitutionalizing of Ombudsman institutions as a shared milestone, while also warning of the next frontier: safeguarding rights in the digital era.Artificial intelligence, big data, and e-governance hold both promise and peril, requiring new legal thinking and regional collaboration. Here, Kazakhstan’s experience in digitized justice may offer a template, but its Constitution must continue to evolve to protect privacy, dignity, and security in an age where technology often outpaces law.A Charter that Breathes with the PeopleThree decades on, Kazakhstan’s Constitution remains more than parchment. It is a living document — both durable and adaptive — embodying the principle that sovereignty belongs to the people. Its endurance lies in its balance: asserting statehood while centering human dignity, adapting to reforms while safeguarding continuity. As Kazakhstan steps deeper into the digital century, the challenge is no longer only about what rights exist on paper, but how they live in practice — in courts, prisons, digital platforms, and daily life. The true measure of the Kazakhstan's Constitution at 30 is not only what has been achieved, but how it continues to mirror the aspirations of a society determined to move forward. https://www.aldiplomasy.com/en/?p=40090Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mfa-hanoi/press/news/details/1059706?lang=kk
Constitution: The Foundation of Sovereignty and the Guarantee of Social Justice 30.08.2025
Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's speech at the international scientific and practical conference dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution was very informative and contained important thoughts on the legal system and political reforms of our country. Through his speech, we once again understood that the Constitution is not only a legal document, but also a document that preserves the spiritual and social integrity of the nation. Tokayev outlined the changes and reforms that have taken place in the country since the first day of the Constitution's adoption, highlighting initiatives to increase the political activity of the population and strengthen the participation of civil society. In his speech, he also noted the importance of the Constitutional reform of three years ago in radically changing the political and legal system, and the fact that as a result of that reform, a new era has begun in the political system of Kazakhstan. The words spoken at this important meeting dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the Constitution remain the basis for strategic steps aimed at the future development of our country as a civilized, just state.
