National Guard serviceman Ruslan Kurbanov wins silver at World Championship 29.03.2026
Private First Class Ruslan Kurbanov, a serviceman of the National Guard of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, won a silver medal at the World Fencing Championship held in Astana.The Kazakh épée fencer demonstrated a high level of skill and strong determination, confidently progressing through the tournament.In the quarterfinals, Kurbanov secured a hard-fought victory over two-time Olympic champion Koki Kano of Japan with a score of 9:8.In the semifinals, the representative of Kazakhstan continued his successful performance, defeating Hungarian athlete Dávid Nagy with a score of 15:13, advancing to the final stage of the competition.In the final bout, the guardsman faced Roman Svichkar of Ukraine. The Results of Kazakhstan’s Constitutional Referendum Were Discussed in Bratislava 24.03.2026
Bratislava, 19 March, 2026 – Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Slovakia, Zhanna Saginova met with the Advisor to the President of the Slovak Republic for Foreign Affairs and International Policy, Mr. Jan Kubiš.During the meeting, the Ambassador briefed on the results of the referendum held on March 15, 2026. It was noted that voter turnout exceeded 73%, with 7.9 million citizens, or 87% of those who voted, supporting the draft of the new Constitution.The Ambassador emphasized that the adoption of the Basic Law will set a course for the country’s sustainable long-term development and establish a new institutional framework for Kazakhstan, capable of responding effectively to both external and internal challenges in an era of turbulence.The transition to a unicameral Parliament (Kurultai), the introduction of the position of Vice President, the establishment of a multi-level system of public dialogue, including the Khalyk Kenesi (People's Council), as well as the strengthening of mechanisms for the protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms, all highlight the scale and significance of the constitutional reforms.Particular attention was paid to the assessments of international observers, who gave a positive evaluation of the voting process, noting that it was conducted in accordance with international standards.It was also noted that the adoption of the new Constitution will launch large-scale transformations of the political and legal framework, as well as the system of public administration. In the Zhangeldinsky district of the Kostanay region, a multifunctional indoor hockey rink was opened and has already been handed over for use to the residents of the region.The new sports facility is located in the village of Torghai and was implemented using funds from the regional budget.
