Kazakhstan Presented the Results of the Global WIPO Pulse 2025 Study in Geneva 15.11.2025
Geneva, 13 November 2025 – The headquarters of the World Intellectual Property Organization hosted the presentation of the global WIPO Pulse 2025 report, chaired by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the WTO and international economic organizations, Mr. Kairat Torebayev.The event was opened by WIPO Director General Daren Tang, who underlined the importance of the study for understanding global trends in the field of intellectual property and for shaping a more inclusive international policy framework.It was noted that Kazakhstan was among the 74 countries that participated in the global survey. According to the findings, countries in the Asia–Pacific region demonstrated a significant increase in public awareness of key intellectual property instruments – and Kazakhstan is part of this positive regional trend.During the meeting, the importance of protecting national products with geographic specificity was also emphasized. As an example, the Almaty aport apple was highlighted, which is officially registered in the national register of geographical indications. Other traditional Kazakhstani products, such as Kyzylorda rice and Kazakh honey, were also mentioned as elements of cultural heritage with strong potential for further promotion and possible protection within the intellectual property system.In his remarks, Permanent Representative K. Torebayev noted that the study’s results confirm the growing significance of intellectual property for Kazakhstan’s socio-economic development and demonstrate the effectiveness of the measures undertaken by the state in this field. Kazakhstan Chairs the Fourth Trade Policy Review of Guatemala 15.11.2025
Geneva, 14 November 2025 – On 12 and 14 November 2025, the Fourth Trade Policy Review of the Republic of Guatemala was held at the World Trade Organization headquarters, under the chairmanship of H.E. Mr. Kairat Torebayev, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the WTO. The Review provided WTO Members with an important opportunity to examine Guatemala’s trade policy priorities, assess the reforms undertaken, and engage in discussions on matters of significance for the multilateral trading system.The delegation of Guatemala was led by Mr. Héctor José Marroquín Mora, Vice Minister of Integration and Foreign Trade, who presented an overview of the country’s key economic achievements over the period 2016–2024. Members highlighted the resilience of Guatemala’s macroeconomic policy, with an average annual GDP growth of nearly 4%, the stability of its financial system, improvements in the investment climate, infrastructure modernization, and expanded opportunities for business development. Progress in digital government services, modernization of customs systems, and the introduction of advanced logistics solutions—resulting in reduced costs and improved efficiency of trade procedures—was also highly commended.WTO Members responded positively to Guatemala’s ongoing reforms. Particular attention was given to efforts aimed at strengthening competition, supporting micro-, small- and medium-sized enterprises, enhancing women’s entrepreneurship, and increasing the country’s participation in regional and global value chains. Members also acknowledged Guatemala’s active engagement in the WTO, including participation in various joint initiatives, ratification of the Agreement on Fisheries Subsidies, and constructive contribution to regional integration.In its statement, Kazakhstan highlighted the substantial progress Guatemala has made in increasing the transparency and predictability of its trade policy, reinforcing administrative capacity, modernizing regulatory frameworks, and improving the business environment. Kazakhstan emphasized that digitalization, trade facilitation, and enhancing MSME opportunities remain central to sustained economic growth. Appreciation was also expressed for Guatemala’s openness to dialogue and willingness to share its experience during the Review process.In his concluding remarks, the Chair of the TPR, Ambassador Torebayev, commended the high level of transparency and engagement demonstrated by Guatemala throughout the Review. He underscored the constructive nature of Members’ discussions and stressed the importance of continuing institutional reforms to strengthen the country’s competitiveness and its deeper integration into global trade processes. He expressed confidence that the results and exchanges during the Review provide a solid basis for further successful cooperation between Guatemala and WTO Members.The Trade Policy Review mechanism is a key component of the WTO transparency framework, enabling Members to exchange information, enhance mutual understanding, and improve policy predictability. The Kazakh delegation presented carbon market initiatives at the COP30 summit 15.11.2025
Belém, November 14, 2025 - On the sidelines of the 30th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP30), the Kazakh delegation participated in a thematic session entitled "Formation of a Digital Platform for the Carbon Market in Central Asia". The Kazakhstan-Chile Friendship Society held a concert 15.11.2025
Santiago, November 14, 2025 - On the occasion of the celebration Kazakhstan Republic Day and the 180th anniversary of the birth of the great Kazakh poet Abay Qunanbayuly, a concert poetically titled “Echo of the Great Steppe and the Andes” took place in the capital of Chile. The event was organized by the Kazakhstan-Chile Friendship Society with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Brazil (concurrently accredited to Chile) and the Institute of International Studies of the University of Chile.The ceremonial evening opened with welcoming remarks by the leader of the Friendship Society, head of the Dimash Kudaibergen fan club, Carmen Sandoval. Her speech, accompanied by Abay's poems, set a war and friendly atmosphere for the event, which brought together the culture, poetry, and music of two continents.The stage featured famous Kazakh melodies and poetic lines filled with the spirit of the steppe. The audience was especially impressed impressed by Sharapiya Kakiomova's performance of Abay's popular song “Kozimnin qarasy” and the folk song “Dudaray,” as well as the performance of Chilean musician Maria Argentina Muñoz, who played Kazakh traditnal music (kuyis) on the dombra.The true highlight of the evening was the youngest participant of the concert, Maximo Leon, a member of Dimash Kudaibergen's fan club, who performed songs by the famous Kazakh artist in the Kazakh language.The conclude of the evening, other Chilean musicians who are members of the Friendship Society, including Quiria Dominguez, performed melodies by well-known international artists on saxophones and trumpet.This year, Kazakhstan and Chile celebrate the 32nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. UN commends the outcomes of the VIII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions 15.11.2025
New York, 14 November 2025 – The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the United Nations in New York hosted an event dedicated to the outcomes of the VIII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, held on 17–18 September 2025 in Astana, as well as to the 20th anniversary of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC). The reception gathered a broad audience, including Permanent Representatives of UN Member States, senior UN Secretariat officials, media representatives, and members of civil society.Opening the event, Kazakhstan’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Kairat Umarov, emphasized that the 20-year history of the Alliance of Civilizations stands as clear evidence of the enduring importance of mutual understanding, trust, and respect for cultural diversity in the modern world. He noted that Kazakhstan fully shares and advances these values, making interfaith and intercultural dialogue a priority of both its national and foreign policy.Ambassador Umarov placed particular focus on the VIII Congress of the Leaders of World and Traditional Religions, which has been held in Astana every 3 years since 2003 and has evolved into a unique global platform for exchanging ideas and best practices in interfaith cooperation. He highlighted the significance of the Astana Peace Declaration 2025, adopted at the Congress and officially circulated within the UN as a General Assembly document (A/80/425). The Declaration reaffirms the principles of Unity in Diversity, supports the UN Plan of Action to Safeguard Religious Sites, and underscores the central role of the UN Alliance of Civilizations in strengthening the culture of peace.The Kazakh diplomat also highlighted the Special Session on the Safeguarding of Religious Sites held during the Congress, co-chaired by Miguel Ángel Moratinos, UN Under-Secretary-General, High Representative for the UNAOC and UN Special Envoy to Combat Islamophobia, and Maulen Ashimbayev, Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan. He noted that this session was a logical continuation of the global dialogue launched at the 2024 conference in Cascais (Portugal) and was aimed at developing concrete mechanisms to ensure the protection of places of worship.As the event’s guest of honor, Mr. Moratinos highly praised Kazakhstan’s role in promoting intercultural and interreligious dialogue. He stressed that Kazakhstan has become a leading global center advancing the culture of peace, and that the Astana Congress stands as a vivid example of the country’s practical contribution to strengthening trust and cooperation among different faiths. A ceremonial meeting dedicated to the Day of National Currency and Financier was held at the Department of State Revenue in the Akmola region.The head of the State Revenue Department, Dulat Nurmuldin, in his congratulatory speech noted that for more than 30 years of the country's independent development, the financial system has played an important role in strengthening the economy of Kazakhstan and its active inclusion in the Eurasian integration.The stability of the financial system, the economic security of the Republic and the social stability of society depend on tax revenues. Delegation of Kazakhstan Held Consultations at the Council of Europe on Measures to Counter Cybercrime 14.11.2025
Strasbourg, November 13-14, 2025 – The delegation, headed by Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Aidar Saitbekov, took part in the 33rd Plenary Session of the Council of Europe’s Committee of the Convention on Cybercrime.Participants from more than 80 countries discussed the implementation of the mechanisms of the Convention on Cybercrime (Budapest Convention) and its Second Additional Protocol, with particular attention given to accelerated access to electronic evidence, the functioning of the 24/7 contact point network, and the impact of artificial intelligence and virtual assets on the application of the Convention’s provisions.The meeting also reviewed ways to strengthen cooperation with the private sector in investigating cybercrimes to enhance the effectiveness of international cooperation.As part of the visit, the head of the Kazakhstani delegation held a bilateral meeting with Ardita Abdiu, Head of the Secretariat of the Council of Europe International Co-operation Group on Drugs and Addictions (Pompidou Group).
