IN ALMATY, ONCOLOGISTS REMOVED AN OVARIAN TUMOR WEIGHING ALMOST 15 KILOGRAMS 16.11.2024
In Almaty, oncologists successfully performed an operation to remove an ovarian tumor, which weighed an impressive 14 kg 770 grams. According to the head of the oncogynecological department of the Almaty Cancer Center Raykhan Bolatbekov, such tumors often develop due to hormonal disorders and may not manifest themselves as noticeable symptoms for a long time.Women usually go to the doctor only when the abdomen is noticeably enlarged, often mistaking its height for a normal weight change."Unfortunately, many women lack the habit of regular self-monitoring. They often do not consider it necessary to be examined until the last and are waiting for an invitation from a doctor," Bolatbekova emphasizes. She notes the importance of personal initiative and careful attention to your health. After the removal of the tumor, which turned out to be borderline (on the verge between benign and malignant), the patient was discharged home. In such cases, surgery is usually sufficient for a full recovery. This case is not the only one. The department has already removed a tumor weighing 18 kg, and patients with tumors weighing 7-8 kg are regularly admitted. The largest number of patients with similar diseases are women aged 40 to 55 years. Bolatbekova also recalls that cervical cancer remains the second most common cancer among women both in Almaty and around the world. More than 200 new cases have been identified in Almaty since the beginning of the year alone."Modern methods of diagnosis and treatment increase overall survival, but it is important to understand that cervical cancer can be completely prevented," Bolatbekova notes. It is for this purpose that vaccination of girls aged 11-13 against the human papillomavirus, which causes cervical cancer, has begun in Kazakhstan. This step is the basis for the complete eradication of the disease in the future.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/dsm/press/news/details/873102
STROKE PREVENTION: HOW TO RECOGNIZE THE DISEASE IN TIME AND PREVENT IT 16.11.2024
World Stroke Day is celebrated annually on October 29. The story of this event begins in 2004, when the World Health Organization declared stroke a global epidemic.Stroke occupies one of the leading places in the world in terms of morbidity, mortality and disability. It is difficult to overestimate the scale of the problem for Kazakhstan: every year more than 40 thousand people suffer a stroke, and in 2023 this figure increased to 45 thousand.More than half of those who have suffered a stroke become disabled, and almost all of them need outside help. In order to reduce the risk of stroke, the population must know and understand the risk factors, as well as prevention methods. The main causes of stroke include high blood pressure, diabetes mellitus, high cholesterol, low physical activity, obesity, smoking, atrial fibrillation and other diseases. It is very important to recognize the first signs of a stroke and remember that specific medical care is most effective in the so—called "therapeutic window" - the first 4.5 hours after the onset of symptoms. How to recognize the first signs of a stroke and call an ambulance in a timely manner?Face – a face that falls or slides to one side (numbness). A person cannot smile.Arms – weakness in one arm (the appearance of muscle weakness), the arm falls like a whip.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/dsm/press/news/details/873283
KAZAKHSTANIS CAN GET INNOVATIVE PSORIASIS TREATMENT FOR FREE 16.11.2024
On the initiative of the International Federation of Psoriasis Associations (IFPA), World Psoriasis Day is celebrated on October 29. It aims to support patients suffering from psoriasis and aims to raise public awareness of the disease.According to regional dermatovenerological services, 6925 patients with a diagnosis of psoriasis are officially registered in Kazakhstan today. About 30% of them have moderate to moderate forms of the disease.According to dermatologists, psoriasis can occur at any age, including in children. Both women and men are equally affected by it. One of the causes of the disease is a genetic predisposition. It is impossible to completely cure psoriasis, but timely and well-chosen therapy allows you to take it under control and achieve stable remission.Since 2018, psoriasis treatment in Kazakhstan has been included in the list of free outpatient medication and is funded under compulsory medical insurance. Patients receive effective genetically engineered biological therapy for free. With this therapy, you can remove all the unpleasant symptoms of the disease, cleanse the skin and prevent joint damage. One of the innovative breakthroughs against psoriasis was the method of phototherapy. Today, lamps and cabins for the phototherapy of psoriasis appeared in Almaty, Astana, Karaganda, Shymkent, semi-cabins - in Aktau, Almaty, Shymkent, local devices are installed in Astana, Atyrau, Karaganda, Kyzylorda, Uralsk, Shymkent. Since the beginning of the year, 800 Kazakhstanis have used this method of treatment, which is 300 more than in the previous year. Thanks to therapeutic care – corneotherapy, dermatologists have learned to neutralize the side effects of phototherapy and hormone therapy in the treatment of psoriasis. Patients get rid of inflammation, redness, and peeling of the skin.It should be noted that people suffering from manifestations of psoriasis, in addition to specialized treatment, often need social adaptation. Skin rashes cause physical and emotional discomfort and negatively affect the psychological well-being of patients.Stigmatization in society often creates obstacles for patients to receive accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment. This can lead to a delay in the start of treatment and an increase in the symptoms of the disease. For reference:Psoriasis is a chronic non–infectious inflammatory skin disease in which areas of the body (head, back, skin folds, elbows and knees) are covered with plaques and scales. As the disease progresses, it can even affect joints and eventually lead to disability. In the world, the estimated number of people suffering from psoriasis exceeds several million.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/dsm/press/news/details/873346

The Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan conducted a unique fire extinguishing exercise in a high-rise building using aviation 16.11.2024
Today in Astana, under the leadership of the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Genghis Arinov, unique fire and tactical exercises were held to extinguish a fire in a multi-storey residential complex using helicopters and ground forces. The exercises held in Astana focused on the rapid extinguishing of a fire in a high-rise building, as well as on the evacuation of citizens from the upper floors using Kazaviaspas aircraft. During the exercises, a strategy was worked out to combat a fire that engulfed several floors of an apartment building, as well as coordination between various emergency response services.According to the scenario, the fire started on the 10th floor of a 22-storey apartment building as a result of a short circuit, quickly spreading upwards. Due to heavy smoke and high temperatures, residents of the upper floors were blocked. In urban conditions, standard fire extinguishing and evacuation equipment could not reach the scene of the accident, which required the intervention of aviation.About 80 rescuers and about 20 emergency vehicles were involved in extinguishing the simulated fire. While ground forces were fighting the fire on the ground floors, Kazaviaspas aircraft played a key role in evacuating people from the roof of the building and the upper floors. The Eurocopter helicopter used a unique landing technique, landing neatly on the edge of the building to evacuate the victim. At the same time, the Mi-8 helicopter with a cargo winch provided rapid lifting of people from a height."The exercises demonstrated not only the high efficiency of interaction between air and ground forces, but also the importance of timely coordination in extinguishing fires in high-rise buildings. This is especially important for modern urban conditions, where inaccessibility and high number of floors create additional difficulties for rescuers," said Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan Genghis Arinov.Special attention in the exercises was paid to the organization of rescue operations and coordination of actions in a limited time. All operations, including fire extinguishing and evacuation of citizens, were monitored online through the new Command Center of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This made it possible to quickly adjust actions and improve the effectiveness of rescue operations."These exercises have become an important stage in the preparation of our forces and means for possible emergencies in cities with high-rise buildings. We will continue to develop and improve cooperation between various departments to improve the safety of citizens," the minister added.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/emer/press/news/details/884525
