An effective measure against heat: Shymkent has introduced a water cooling system 21.07.2025
In the hot July of 2025, the Turansky district of Shymkent began to actively use the method of irrigating the air with upward-directed jets of water. The work is carried out by the ShymkentSpetsKompleks public utility service on behalf of the city Department for the Development of a Comfortable Urban Environment. The main goal of this initiative is to reduce the air temperature on the streets and make the stay of city residents in public places more comfortable. This practice is not new for megacities, where summer heat becomes a challenge for both people and ecosystems. But in Shymkent, such events have become systemic relatively recently. The method is based on the principle of spraying water upwards using special nozzles installed on municipal equipment. The smallest drops of water are sprayed into the air, absorbing heat and evaporating. This leads to a decrease in the ambient temperature by 2-3 degrees near the spray zone, and also helps combat dry air and dust settling. Irrigation is carried out mainly in the morning and afternoon hours in the busiest areas - along roads, at bus stops, near parks and other public spaces. Such measures have a complex effect. First of all, it is a decrease in the outside temperature during periods of extreme heat. The difference is especially noticeable in areas with dense development, where the "heat island" heats the air faster. In addition, fine water spray cleans the air from dust and fine particles, which has a positive effect on the health of city residents, especially children and the elderly. This measure is especially relevant in Shymkent, where the dry climate and high density of vehicles contribute to the accumulation of dust in the air. An additional benefit is the moistening of green areas along roads. Spraying water helps plants survive the heat, preventing them from drying out. This increases the resistance of urban flora, reducing the need for frequent manual watering of lawns and trees. Just a few years ago, air cooling measures were limited to periodic watering of roads and sidewalks. This was done mainly to reduce dust. However, such efforts were not enough to significantly affect the city's microclimate. In 2023–2024, the first experiments with spraying water upwards were conducted, but without the required regularity. Starting in 2025, the city authorities switched to a systematic approach: a schedule for equipment visits was developed in the Turansky District, priority streets were identified, and additional equipment was purchased. In addition, information work with the population has begun in parallel with technical measures. Residents are explained the benefits of water spraying, warned about the operation of municipal equipment and called upon to take care of green spaces and the cleanliness of the city. Ecological significance Spraying water in the city has a beneficial effect on its ecosystem: Reducing air pollution - helps reduce the risk of respiratory diseases. Support for urban vegetation - trees and lawns receive additional moisture in drought conditions. Microclimate stabilization – prevents overheating of asphalt pavement and building walls, which slows down the overall increase in temperature in the city. It is important to note that the water used is technical water, not intended for drinking, which makes the project ecologically and economically sustainable. Shymkent residents have already noted an improvement in their well-being in public spaces. This is especially true for the elderly, parents with children, and workers who are outside during the day. A cooler and fresher atmosphere helps increase activity, reduce fatigue, and reduce overheating. In addition, the aesthetic effect of water mist adds an element of coziness and modernity to street areas, creating the appearance of a well-maintained and caring city. The water spray air cooling system is not just a way to combat heat, but an element of the city's modern environmental policy. Shymkent is an example of how, with relatively small investments, it is possible to increase the level of comfort for city residents, maintain public health, and take care of the urban environment. Compared to previous years, when activities were limited to manual watering of lawns, today the city is moving towards smart and sustainable climate management in the context of urbanization.
Daily care for cleanliness and ecology: how public utilities work in the Turansky district of Shymkent 21.07.2025
In Shymkent, one of the fastest growing cities in Kazakhstan, the Turan district is becoming an example of a systematic approach to maintaining urban cleanliness and environmental well-being. Every day, employees of the ShymkentSpetsKompleks municipal service work here, implementing a comprehensive program of cleaning, landscaping and improvement. These works are carried out regardless of the season, weather or holidays, because the cleanliness of the city is not a one-time action, but a constant need. The work covers both main streets and highways, as well as park areas, bus stops, sidewalks, and courtyards. Specialized equipment regularly goes out onto the streets for mechanized washing of the roadway. This allows not only to remove dust and dirt, but also to refresh the asphalt surface in hot weather, creating a more comfortable environment for all road users. Additionally, during the hottest hours, modern equipment is used to spray cooling water upwards to lower the air temperature. This practice helps combat overheating of urban spaces and improves the microclimate. Sidewalks, pedestrian paths, and bus stops are also not left without attention. They are cleaned manually, employees collect garbage, sweep dust, wash surfaces, and disinfect. It is especially important to maintain cleanliness in places where the greatest concentration of people occurs - this is not only a matter of aesthetics, but also of sanitary safety. Much attention is paid to green areas. The grass is mown, lawns are carefully trimmed, and sanitary pruning of trees is carried out. Excess dry or overhanging branches are removed to prevent them from falling and to ensure healthy plant growth. Flower beds and trees are regularly watered, and the soil around them is loosened - this is necessary to saturate the roots with oxygen and moisture. These activities directly contribute to improving the environmental situation in the area. Reducing the amount of dust in the air, the presence of greenery, cleaned roads and sidewalks - all this affects the health of city residents, reduces the level of pollution, and contributes to a favorable atmosphere. If we compare the current situation with previous years, we can note significant improvements. Previously, such work was carried out mainly during seasonal clean-up days or in preparation for state holidays. Often, the cleaning was superficial and covered only the central streets. Today, the Turansky District has a permanent cleaning schedule that covers all residential and public areas, including peripheral streets and new microdistricts. This systematic approach began in 2023, when the city administration decided to strengthen control over the sanitary condition of the districts. New units of equipment were purchased, the staff was increased, and modern quality control standards were introduced. For example, the introduction of GPS monitoring of cleaning equipment routes made it possible to reduce duplication of sites and increase efficiency. In 2024, pilot programs for daily greening and watering proved their effectiveness, and by the summer of 2025, these measures became a regular part of the work of public utilities. As a result, there was a noticeable decrease in complaints from citizens, an increase in satisfaction with living conditions, and an improvement in the visual appearance of the area. It is especially worth noting that such actions are important not only for improvement, but also for the formation of a culture of cleanliness among the population. When people see the result of daily care for the city, they begin to treat their area more consciously: do not litter, protect green spaces, maintain order. Thus, the daily work of the municipal services of the Turansky district is not just cleaning and watering. This is a strategic contribution to the sustainable development of the urban environment, preserving the environment and improving the quality of life. Shymkent is confidently moving towards the status of a truly comfortable and clean city in which one wants to live and develop.
Clean environment is a common cause: a large-scale clean-up day was held in the Kazygurt microdistrict 11.07.2025
On July 11, 2025, in the Kazygurt microdistrict of Shymkent, as part of the nationwide environmental campaign "Taza Kazakhstan", another clean-up day was held, uniting the efforts of public utilities, activists and local residents. The campaign was aimed at improving the sanitary condition of the district and forming an environmental culture among the population. About 100 people took part in the event. 8 units of specialized equipment were used for the cleanup. As a result, several blocks were cleared, a significant amount of construction waste, sand, stones, and household waste was removed. The total volume of collected waste amounted to tens of tons, which were subsequently delivered to the official city landfill. Particular attention was paid to spontaneous dumps and places where residents illegally stored building materials and unnecessary items. During the cleanup, cases of violation of sanitary standards were recorded, after which the violators were given verbal warnings and protocols were drawn up. Such measures are intended not only to restore order, but also to prevent repeated cases of littering. Such events not only help to maintain cleanliness, but also have a positive effect on the urban ecology. Removal of construction waste reduces the risk of soil and groundwater pollution, and clean public spaces help improve air quality. In addition, green areas cleared of garbage again become a comfortable place for city residents to relax. Compared to similar events in previous years, significant progress can be noted. For example, in 2023, the cleanup in this area was more localized, with fewer equipment and participants. In 2024, activity increased, but the events were not yet accompanied by such control measures and accountability as this year. In 2025, the approach became more systematic: not only public utilities were involved, but also local police officers and environmental services, which made it possible to cover a larger area and improve discipline among residents. The clean-up day in Kazygurt became a clear example of how the joint efforts of society and the state give real results. Thanks to the coordinated work, it was possible not only to improve the sanitary condition of the area, but also to remind residents of the importance of personal responsibility for the cleanliness of the environment. Local authorities plan to continue holding regular environmental campaigns and develop the practice of clean-up days with broad involvement of city residents. After all, cleanliness begins with every yard, and a conscious attitude to the environment - with every person.
Shymkent has become cleaner: an environmental cleanup was held in the Turkestan region as part of the “Taza Kazakhstan” campaign 17.07.2025
On July 17, 2025, a large-scale environmental cleanup took place in Shymkent, in the Turan district. It became part of the republican campaign "Clean Kazakhstan", aimed at improving the sanitary condition of cities and forming a responsible attitude towards the environment among citizens. The event was organized by the district administration with the support of public utilities and the participation of local residents. About 100 people took part in the cleanup, 6 units of special equipment were used. As a result of the cleanup, 86 tons of various garbage were collected and taken to the city landfill in Aktaste, including household waste, branches, grass mass and construction waste. The work covered the courtyards of apartment buildings, alleys, pedestrian paths, spontaneous dumps and green areas. Participants actively cleaned irrigation ditches, trimmed bushes and mowed grass. Utility workers installed additional waste containers, and volunteers distributed leaflets to residents with information on waste sorting, proper disposal and environmental initiatives. Such events play an important role in maintaining the ecological balance of the city. Timely garbage collection reduces the risk of spreading diseases, prevents soil and groundwater pollution, and helps preserve flora and fauna within the city. Cleanliness in public places improves the quality of life and the overall appearance of Shymkent. Compared to similar events of previous years, we can note a steady positive trend. For example, in 2023, about 60 tons of garbage were collected as part of a similar campaign in the Turansky District, and in 2024 - already 75 tons. This indicates both an increased coverage of the territory and an increase in the number of participants. The population is becoming more responsive to environmental initiatives, and participation in clean-up days is becoming a habitual practice for many residents. It is also worth noting that the "Taza Kazakhstan" campaign has been held throughout the country for several years now. In Shymkent, it includes not only cleaning up the territories, but also planting trees, renewing green spaces, landscaping work, and information and awareness campaigns. Last year, several pilot projects were launched in the city to install eco-containers and sort waste, which received a positive response from city residents. Residents of the district highly appreciated the organization of the event. According to the participants, such clean-up days not only help to restore order, but also unite people, creating an atmosphere of cooperation and mutual assistance. — "I am happy to take part in such events. When you see how your yard becomes cleaner, you feel proud of your city and want to keep this order for a long time," shared local resident Ainura Ermekova. The district administration intends to continue holding such environmental campaigns on a regular basis. The plans include organizing monthly cleanups and expanding the participation of schoolchildren, students and business representatives. Thus, the last clean-up day became another important step towards a cleaner, safer and more comfortable Shymkent. If such practices are supported in the future, the city can become an example of sustainable environmental development and civic responsibility.
Regular maintenance work continues on city fountains in the Turansky district of Shymkent 20.07.2025
In the Turansky district of Shymkent, special attention is paid to maintaining city fountains in good condition. These objects play not only a decorative role, decorating the appearance of the metropolis, but also contribute to improving the microclimate, creating comfortable conditions in the hot summer months. Today, there are several fountains operating in the district, located in public places - parks, squares and plazas. Thanks to these water architectural elements, the streets become more attractive, and the citizens' rest - more pleasant. In addition, the working fountains help to humidify the air, reduce dust and locally reduce the temperature, which is especially important for the southern region of the country. According to the district administration, maintenance work, system flushing, cleaning from debris and equipment inspection are carried out regularly. Specialized services perform water quality control and ensure uninterrupted operation of pumps and lighting. If necessary, the cladding is restored, fountain elements are painted and modernized. Special attention is paid to safety. To avoid accidents, warning signs are installed in fountain areas, and preventive work is carried out with children and teenagers. Public works services, together with police patrols, monitor order in crowded areas. Fountains are not only pleasing to the eye, but also become part of the urban ecosystem. The constant movement of water attracts birds, reduces the concentration of harmful substances in the air and improves the overall perception of the urban environment. In densely built-up areas, such objects act as natural "coolers" and help combat overheating of asphalt and buildings. Compared to previous years, it is worth noting significant progress in systematizing the care of city fountains. For example, 5-7 years ago, there were often cases in the city when fountains did not work for weeks due to breakdowns or lack of funding. However, in recent years, thanks to the efforts of local authorities and the implementation of the Comfortable City program, the infrastructure of water bodies has improved. Today, fountains are launched on time in the spring and summer and are serviced on a scheduled basis. Previously, similar events were held in other areas of Shymkent, but in a disjointed form. Today, the approach has become more systematic. Employees of the improvement department, together with contractors, develop fountain maintenance schedules, monitor service deadlines and keep records. This helps avoid unscheduled downtime and ensure the stable functioning of the entire water architecture of the city. The work in the Turansky district is part of a broader program aimed at improving the urban environment and developing green infrastructure. In the future, it is planned to introduce intelligent fountain control systems that will regulate operation depending on weather conditions and time of day, which will further save resources and increase operational efficiency. Thus, caring for city fountains is not only a matter of aesthetics, but also an important element of environmental sustainability, sanitary safety and the creation of a comfortable urban environment for residents and guests of Shymkent.
Kazakhstan Launches New Era of Artificial Intelligence 20.07.2025
On July 18, 2025, an extended meeting of the Commission on Digitalization was held in Astana under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. The central topic was the development of the artificial intelligence (AI) ecosystem in Kazakhstan in the context of the launch of the national supercomputer and the QazTech platform. Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev reported on the completion of the conversion of the government data center to the needs of a supercomputer. This powerful computing cluster will become the basis for the introduction of AI in public administration, healthcare, education and other key sectors. During the meeting, a plan for creating a full-fledged AI infrastructure was presented. The Concept for the Development of Artificial Intelligence for 2024–2029 was approved, as well as the draft law “On Artificial Intelligence”. The need for a regulatory framework for regulating the use of AI and protecting citizens' data was emphasized. In parallel, educational programs for training specialists in the field of AI are being implemented: AI Corporate, TUMO Center, AI People and others. This will provide the public and private sectors with qualified personnel capable of developing and implementing AI solutions in Kazakhstan. Particular attention at the meeting was paid to the QazTech platform, a new national digital environment designed for accelerated development of IT products. Thanks to the principles of modularity, security and cloud architecture, the implementation period for new solutions is reduced to 6 months, which previously took up to three years. The platform has already been tested for compliance with information security requirements, and its full launch is scheduled for August 2025. On the basis of QazTech, such solutions as a single Internet portal of government agencies, the Smart Bridge integration platform, the National Environmental Database and others are already functioning. Also in development are new generation digital assistants: e-agent, egov AI, AI therapist, tax helper, voice translator and AI service for supporting entrepreneurs. An important part of the agenda was the discussion of the creation of "Digital Transformation Maps" for all government agencies. The maps are being developed based on international practices, including the experience of Singapore, and are designed to simplify bureaucratic procedures, speed up the provision of services to the population and improve the efficiency of public administration. The new supercomputer installed in the Alem.cloud data center has become the largest in Central Asia. Its capacity enables the execution of complex analytical and computational tasks, including processing large amounts of data, process modeling, and machine learning. This technological achievement creates a solid foundation for scientific research, commercial projects, and optimization of the public sector. Compared to similar events of previous years, one can note a radical turn in the state's approach. In 2023–2024, digitalization in Kazakhstan was carried out mainly through individual electronic services and local automation. At that time, AI was considered more as a promising direction, but not as a priority. There was no infrastructure, no personnel base, no coordinating center. With the beginning of 2025, the country entered a new phase. In January, strategic seminars on AI and digitalization were held, but they were more theoretical. Only with the launch of the supercomputer in July and the start of QazTech's operation, Kazakhstan took a step from concept to real implementation. Today's level of technological maturity allows us to talk about the formation of a full-fledged artificial intelligence ecosystem. This affects not only the efficiency of public services, but also opens up new horizons for business, science, and education. The state has declared its readiness not just to follow trends, but to shape them - especially in the Central Asian region. Thus, July 18, 2025 can be considered a key date - the day when the digital infrastructure of the future was laid. The created platform and supercomputer will allow Kazakhstan to take a leading position in the IT industry of the region, as well as improve the quality of life of citizens through intelligent and fast solutions.
Shymkent residents come out to clean up the banks of Koshkar-Ata: how city residents help nature 10.07.2025
On July 10, 2025, another environmental cleanup took place in Shymkent as part of the national project "Taza Kazakhstan". The initiators were the office of the Akim of the Al-Farabi district and the local branch of the "AMANAT" party. The next cleanup took place on the bank of the Koshkar-Ata River - one of the main natural symbols of the city. More than 50 people took part in the event: Akimat employees, party members, representatives of public utilities and active citizens. Four units of special equipment were used to carry out the work. Together, the participants collected and removed almost 2 tons of garbage, cleared the riverbed of algae, and the banks of dead wood and household waste. Pedestrian areas and paths along the river were also treated, weeds were mown and excess tree branches were trimmed. The cleanup was not just a sanitary event, but also part of a broad environmental program aimed at improving the urban environment. According to the organizers, "Taza Kazakhstan" is not a one-time event, but consistent work to improve the level of environmental culture and preserve water resources. Participants note that the organization of such events has improved compared to previous years. For example, if in 2023–2024 such cleanups were more often timed to coincide with official holidays, now they have become regular and larger-scale. In the past, as a rule, they covered only the coastal zone, but now the work also affects the condition of the river itself, including the bottom and aquatic vegetation. Such events have a real impact on the environment: according to experts, water quality has improved, pollution levels have decreased, and some species of plants and aquatic organisms sensitive to pollution have returned. It should be noted that Koshkar-Ata is an important ecosystem fed by underground springs, and its condition affects the climate and biological diversity of the entire central part of the city. In addition, eco-cleaning days allow residents to be involved in caring for nature. People not only clean up, but also receive environmental education. The organizers plan to further expand such initiatives: holding lectures, involving schoolchildren and students in projects, installing additional containers for separate waste collection. Shymkent is one of the fastest growing megacities in the country, and the issue of environmental sustainability is especially acute here. In the conditions of dense development and increasing pressure on water and green areas, caring for natural objects such as Koshkar-Ata is not just an initiative, but an urgent need. The clean-up on July 10 became part of a general series of events supporting the course towards cleanliness and order in the city. Comparatively recently, two years ago, the clean-up on Koshkar-Ata attracted fewer participants and did not affect the technical condition of the riverbed. Now, thanks to the support of the party, the akimat and concerned residents, the environmental situation here is gradually improving. The results of the campaign clearly show that only through joint efforts is it possible to preserve nature in the conditions of modern urbanization. Shymkent residents have proven that they care about the appearance of their hometown and its ecological future.
Environmental care in action: Shymkent hosts event for Fisherman's Day 13.07.2025
On the eve of Fisherman's Day, which is celebrated in Kazakhstan annually on July 13, an environmental campaign to clean up the city's territory was held in Shymkent. The initiator was the city branch of the AMANAT party together with Zhastar Ruhy volunteers, representatives of public utilities and activists of district and city branches of the party. The next event within the framework of the traditional Clean Thursday initiative took place on the bank of the Koshkar-Ata River. More than 50 participants gathered to contribute to the common cause of environmental protection. They cleared the riverbed and banks of garbage, uprooted weeds, and carried out sanitary pruning of trees. The goal was not only to improve the appearance of the city's natural corner, but also to draw the attention of city residents to the importance of environmental culture and personal responsibility for the cleanliness of their native land. Since the beginning of 2025, 26 events have been organized within the framework of the Clean Thursday initiative. Together, about 2,500 people collected and removed almost 24 tons of garbage, and planted more than 200 trees. This initiative is part of the national project Clean Kazakhstan, implemented on the instructions of the President of the country Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The project is aimed at increasing environmental awareness, forming a caring attitude towards nature and improving the quality of life in cities. A distinctive feature of the action in Shymkent was its timing to the Fisherman's Day, which gave the event additional symbolism. Fishing is closely connected with water resources, and on this day the organizers decided to remind about the importance of protecting rivers and lakes from pollution. Thus, ecosenbilik became not only a labor, but also an educational initiative. Such events have been held regularly in Shymkent for several years. For example, in 2023, on the eve of World Environment Day, a similar cleanup was held on the territory of the Badam reservoir, where more than 3 tons of garbage were collected. In 2022, eco-cleaning was carried out along the Zhideli canal, where volunteers, students and city service employees also took part. The main difference of the current initiative is sustainability and regularity. Thanks to systematic work, "Clean Thursday" in Shymkent has acquired the status of a permanent city tradition, and participation in it is a sign of social maturity. The organizers emphasize that such events foster a caring attitude towards nature not only among young people, but also among all categories of the population. It is in such actions that a real culture of responsibility for the environment is formed - not only in words, but also in actions. Maintaining cleanliness and improving natural areas within the city is not just an environmental issue, but also a guarantee of health, comfort and tourist attractiveness of Shymkent. The AMANAT party emphasized that work in this direction will be continued. The plans include holding similar events in other areas of the city, including on the outskirts and in places of spontaneous dumps. In addition, it is planned to more actively involve schoolchildren and students in order to form environmental responsibility from an early age. In the context of climate change and increasing pressure on the urban environment, such actions acquire special significance. Garbage collection, tree planting, and educational work among the population are a contribution to the common cause of nature conservation and sustainable development. And, as the practice of Shymkent shows, even small steps, if they are taken regularly and in a coordinated manner, give a noticeable result.
New wave of professionals: specialists from Shymkent adopt experience in the field of water management in China 17.07.2025
Kazakhstan continues to implement an important initiative to train water sector specialists within the framework of 2025, which has been declared the Year of Working Professions. Since the beginning of April, a group of Kazakhstani water management specialists, which included representatives from Shymkent, began training at production facilities in China. The project was organized by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in cooperation with the Chinese corporation Power China. A total of 105 specialists from different regions of the country will undergo training. The first group of 30 people has already begun advanced training at water infrastructure facilities in China. Among them are employees of municipal and water management organizations in the city of Shymkent, where water supply and resource management issues have long required an integrated approach. The course program is aimed at practical mastery of modern technologies and methods in water resources management. Topics cover the design of water management facilities, flood prevention, disaster management, wastewater treatment and digitalization of water flow management. Training takes place directly at operating hydraulic structures - dams, canals, pumping stations - which allows participants to gain real experience working with modern technology and equipment. The financial costs for training and accommodation are fully covered by the Chinese side, which became possible thanks to the signed bilateral memorandum. This format of international interaction not only strengthens ties between the countries, but also provides access for Kazakhstani specialists to advanced knowledge and technologies. Participation in the program is of particular importance for Shymkent. As one of the most densely populated and rapidly developing cities in the country, it faces increasing pressure on its water supply and sewerage systems. Many utility networks require modernization, and there is a shortage of qualified specialists in this area. The participation of Shymkent residents in Chinese courses is an investment in the city's human resources, which is necessary for sustainable development and improving the quality of public services. The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation notes that in the coming years, more than 1,700 specialists will be needed across the country, given the planned creation of new public utilities and the expected mass retirement of current personnel. Shymkent is also among the priority cities where the renewal of engineering personnel is required. In addition, the region plans to implement a number of large water management projects - both to provide water to new residential areas and to improve the efficiency of agricultural water use. The knowledge and skills acquired in China will allow specialists to implement modern approaches and solutions in the near future. Thus, the participation of Shymkent specialists in the international training program in China is not just a business trip abroad, but a strategic step to update and strengthen the city's water sector. The experience gained will directly contribute to improving the level of personnel training, modernizing the infrastructure and, ultimately, improving the quality of life of the population.
Kazakhstan's livestock sector demonstrates steady growth: new measures to support farmers 17.07.2025
According to the results of the first five months of 2025, the livestock industry of Kazakhstan demonstrates positive dynamics. According to data published in the Ukimet Telegram channel, there is an increase in the number of farm animals, as well as an increase in the volume of gross livestock output. Compared to the same period last year, the number of cattle increased by 23.4%, small cattle - by 7.8%. Significant growth was also recorded in horse breeding (by 12.2%), camel breeding (by 8.5%) and poultry farming (by 2.2%). The total volume of gross output amounted to over 1.2 trillion tenge, which is 4.2% more than last year. Growth is observed in the main areas: meat production increased by 3%, milk - by 7.5%, eggs - by 0.3%. Such growth, according to experts, is largely due to government support measures and the set goals to double the gross output of the agricultural sector, outlined by the Head of State. In this regard, the Ministry of Agriculture of Kazakhstan is preparing to launch two new preferential lending programs aimed at further development of the industry. The total funding for the two programs will be 100 billion tenge. The first program provides for the allocation of 50 billion tenge for the purchase of breeding stock of large and small cattle. These funds will be provided to farmers in the form of "long" loans at 5% per annum. The second part of the funds - another 50 billion tenge - will be used to replenish the working capital of enterprises, also at a rate of no more than 5%. Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov noted that these measures will not only strengthen the position of livestock farming in the country, but also create conditions for increasing exports. In particular, in the near future, it is planned to expand the current program for preferential lending to dairy farms to the sphere of meat livestock farming. It is expected that in this part the emphasis will be placed on the introduction of Australian experience in fattening beef cattle, which in the future will allow exporting up to 50 thousand tons of meat annually with an estimated revenue of about 500 billion tenge. Financing in the amount of 29.3 billion tenge has already been provided for the implementation of 14 projects in this area. This will allow farmers to introduce modern technologies in beef cattle breeding, increase productivity and enter new export markets. It is worth recalling that the program of preferential lending to dairy farms operates at 2.5% per annum. Within the framework of this initiative, the construction of 116 new farms is envisaged. Today, 69 of them are already functioning, another 47 are at the stage of active implementation. The growth of livestock indicators also indicates the growing interest of entrepreneurs and farmers in modernizing agriculture. Infrastructure development, access to credit resources and availability of sales markets are becoming key conditions for sustainable growth. Thus, the agricultural sector of Kazakhstan receives a new impetus for development. Increased funding, modernization of farms and systematic support of farmers from the state in the coming years can turn Kazakhstan into one of the leading producers and exporters of meat and dairy products in the region.
The issue of gasification is being resolved in Kainarbulak 17.07.2025
In mid-July 2025, residents of the Kainarbulak dacha community in Shymkent witnessed real changes. After a meeting with the city's akim, Gabit Syzdykbekov, on July 15-16, the gasification issue, which had worried the population for many years, began to be resolved in practice. At the reception in the format of an off-site meeting, city residents filed a complaint: despite the gas main that had been installed, many still cannot connect to the system and are forced to use alternative, less convenient energy sources. The Akim, having listened to the residents' appeals, gave instructions to the relevant services and the Abay Akimat to conduct a full study of the situation and develop effective measures. As a result of the analysis, it was established that there is a technical possibility for connection - the main gas pipeline has already been installed and the work on its installation has been completed. Now the opportunity to connect in-house networks is open to residents. To date, more than 2,300 households in Kainarbulak have been connected to natural gas. This has become an important step towards improving the living conditions of the population, especially in anticipation of the winter season. However, one of the main obstacles to connection remained the problem with documentation. Some houses were outside the so-called "red line", which made it impossible to obtain a technical passport for housing. To help such residents, a mechanism for issuing a special form-7 was introduced in the Abay district - a certificate that temporarily replaces the technical passport and allows for the legalization of gas connection. This decision became a salvation for dozens of families who previously could not access basic infrastructure due to paperwork. This case in Kainarbulak is not an isolated one in the history of Shymkent. In previous years, similar initiatives were implemented in other areas of the city. Thus, in 2022, about 1,800 houses were connected in the Yenbekshinsky district as part of the gasification program, and in 2023, Asar-2 became one of the first new microdistricts where all gas supply work was completed. In both cases, as now, local authorities provided support to residents in matters of paperwork and installation work. However, the situation in Kainarbulak is different in that the problem was noticed immediately after citizens appealed, and the response followed without delay. The rapid response of the authorities and the organization of the work of the responsible structures became an important indicator of the effectiveness of the city administration. The issue, which had remained unresolved for years, was moved from a dead point within a few days. Gasification has not only household but also social significance. It is an increase in safety, savings on fuel, improvement of sanitary and environmental conditions, especially in suburban areas. People refuse to use coal, firewood or gas in cylinders, which entails a decrease in the number of fires, poisoning and air pollution. In addition, the presence of natural gas is comfort and stability, especially for families with children and the elderly. Solving problems with documentation through the introduction of a simplified certificate demonstrates the willingness of local authorities to find flexible but legal solutions. This also increases public trust in the authorities and reduces social tension in areas where connection issues previously seemed insurmountable. The story of Kainarbulak is an example of how effective interaction between the authorities and residents can lead to real results. People expressed their problem — the authorities heard, responded and took measures. This approach should become the norm, not the exception. When the dialogue is established and requests are responded to with action, society feels participation, attention and support. This is how a safe and developed urban environment is built, where every resident feels part of a big common cause.
Shymkent continues large-scale cleanup as part of the Clean City project 16.07.2025
In the Yenbekshinsky district of Shymkent, the environmental initiative "Clean City" is being actively implemented. Since July 15, 2025, comprehensive sanitary measures have been carried out in the district aimed at improving the appearance of the urban environment, increasing the level of comfort for residents and visitors of the city, as well as creating a favorable sanitary and environmental atmosphere. These works are organized in accordance with the objectives of the national project "Safe Country", which also covers aspects of improvement and prevention of environmental pollution. Specialists of the Inteko Group company clean bus stops, benches, garbage containers, curbs and pedestrian areas daily. For this purpose, special washing machines and high-pressure equipment are used, which allows not only to remove visual pollution, but also to ensure sanitary treatment of public spaces. The work covers not only central streets, but also remote residential areas. Particular attention is paid to bus stops, where dust and garbage accumulate daily. Cleaning of urns, small architectural forms and playgrounds is also carried out. All elements of public space are treated with disinfectants, which is especially important in the summer, when the risk of spreading infections increases. According to representatives of the district akimat, cleaning activities are carried out according to schedule and under constant control. Residents of the district note that since the beginning of the project, the situation with cleanliness in public areas has noticeably improved: the unpleasant smell near the container sites has disappeared, there is less garbage in the areas around the houses. If we compare the current activities with how similar work was carried out in previous years, it is obvious that the approach has become more comprehensive and systematic. For example, in 2023, cleaning was carried out mainly manually, as part of seasonal clean-up days and in limited areas. Disinfection was practically not carried out, and mechanized equipment was used sporadically. In 2024, city authorities began to more actively implement cleaning mechanization, but the coverage of territories remained uneven. There were complaints about irregular garbage collection and poor coordination between utilities. However, it was in that year that they began to introduce elements of public control, when residents could report sanitary violations through a mobile application. In 2025, compared to previous years, we can note a sharp progress: the work is carried out more quickly, in an organized manner and with the use of modern equipment. In addition, the events are accompanied by an information and awareness campaign. Through leaflets and social networks, residents are called upon to maintain order, not to throw garbage in the wrong places and to participate in the cleanup on a voluntary basis. Local volunteer associations and youth organizations have also joined the initiative, especially in private sector areas. In some courtyards, residents have independently organized the installation of urns and planting of trees. This demonstrates the growth of civic activity and the increase in environmental culture among city residents. The next step, as reported by representatives of the akimat, will be the expansion of the project's geography to other areas of Shymkent, as well as the installation of additional containers for separate waste collection. It is planned that by the end of the year, all central streets and adjacent areas will be covered by regular washing and sanitization. The Clean City initiative not only makes Shymkent more visually attractive, but also contributes to the creation of a comfortable, safe and modern urban environment. Residents express hope that the efforts that have been initiated will not remain a temporary action, but will become a sustainable part of city life.
Disinsection in Shymkent: systematic pest control in the midst of the summer season 15.07.2025
In July 2025, Shymkent continues to actively treat urban areas against mosquitoes and other insects. These activities are carried out strictly according to the approved schedule and cover key public spaces: parks, squares, canals and adjacent areas. The work is aimed at preventing the spread of diseases transmitted through insect bites, as well as improving the sanitary condition of the urban environment. According to information from city services, disinfestation is carried out using certified means that are safe for people and animals, provided that all instructions are followed. However, residents are strongly advised to exercise caution: do not allow children to approach treated areas, avoid contact with treated surfaces, and ensure that pets are not in disinfestation zones. Particular attention is paid to work in areas with high humidity and accumulation of stagnant water, where pests reproduce especially quickly. The list of priority zones includes the outskirts of the city and the private sector, where, as practice shows, mosquitoes most often find favorable conditions for reproduction. The authorities call on city residents not only to comply with sanitary standards, but also to show initiative - to treat their own plots and adjacent territories at their own expense. In parallel with practical work, an information and educational campaign is also being conducted. Through social networks, announcements, leaflets and the media, residents learn about the disinfestation schedule, necessary precautions and the possibility of contacting sanitary services. This approach has already proven its effectiveness in previous years. If we recall previous seasons, for example 2023 and 2024, then disinfestation works were also carried out on a large scale, especially during periods of prolonged rains. Then, outbreaks of insects were recorded in the city, especially near water bodies, and additional stages of treatment were urgently carried out. In 2024, for example, the total area of treatment exceeded 12 thousand hectares - a third more than the year before. This made it possible to reduce the number of complaints from residents and avoid an increase in cases of diseases transmitted through bites. In 2025, the city's sanitary services use more modern methods: drones are used to monitor the territory, digital maps of infested areas are created, and the effectiveness of each stage of treatment is monitored. These innovations allow for streamlining the process and provide greater precision in the fight against insects. Representatives of sanitary services emphasize that spraying alone is not enough - assistance from the population is necessary. It is important to eliminate sources of stagnant water, clear areas of garbage, and prevent littering of yards and premises. Such simple measures significantly reduce the likelihood of reappearance of insects. It is also worth noting that this year local housing cooperatives and housing associations are actively involved in the work, not only informing residents, but also conducting preventive talks, monitoring the cleanliness of adjacent areas and interacting with contractors carrying out pest control. Overall, the current campaign in Shymkent demonstrates the coordinated work of all links — from sanitary services to ordinary citizens. Timely measures, constant monitoring and high involvement of the population create all the conditions for a successful fight against seasonal pests. And although it is impossible to completely eliminate the appearance of mosquitoes, the city does everything possible to minimize their number and provide a comfortable, safe environment for life.
Veterinary Worker Day in Shymkent: Prevention, Education and Dialogue with Farmers 15.07.2025
On July 10, 2025, an informal and meaningful event dedicated to the Day of Veterinary Worker was held in Shymkent. On behalf of the Vice Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, on this day, specialists of the veterinary service, as well as employees of the Department of Agriculture and the territorial inspection, visited farms. The purpose of the visit was not only to congratulate colleagues and partners on their professional holiday, but also to organize a large-scale information and explanatory campaign among owners of farm animals. Particular attention was paid to current issues: prevention of infectious diseases, veterinary and sanitary standards, as well as the correct registration of livestock through the individual identification system. Veterinarians explained how well-coordinated registration helps control the movement of animals, quickly respond to outbreaks of diseases and improve the quality of products. The service representatives explained that timely vaccination, isolation of sick individuals and compliance with hygiene standards are not only legal requirements, but also a guarantee of the economic sustainability of farms. In addition, measures were discussed to strengthen veterinary control in private farmsteads, where compliance with sanitary standards often remains low. Farmers were able to ask questions of interest, receive individual recommendations and hear about changes in legislation related to the veterinary sphere. This is especially relevant in the context of digital transformation: by 2025, Kazakhstan has intensified the transition to electronic traceability of livestock and livestock products, which requires new knowledge and skills from farmers. One of the topics of discussion was the need to strengthen the material and technical base of the veterinary service. Participants in the event emphasized the importance of accessibility of vaccines, equipment and mobile laboratories, especially in remote rural areas. Proposals to strengthen the training of young specialists and expand the network of training courses at the local level were also considered. A distinctive feature of the event was its practical content. If in previous years the Veterinarian's Day in Shymkent was celebrated mainly by ceremonial meetings, awards and cultural programs, then this time the emphasis was placed on direct contact with the population and work "in the field". This approach has already proven its effectiveness: in previous years, preventive work was fragmentary, while the current campaign covered several districts of the city and suburbs at once. The format of the field work was positively received by both the specialists themselves and agricultural producers. Both parties noted that interaction in an informal setting contributes to a better understanding of problems and a joint search for solutions. Plans for the modernization of veterinary infrastructure and the launch of pilot projects for digital livestock accounting were also discussed. At the end of the day, an informal meeting was held, where letters of gratitude and certificates were presented to the best employees of the veterinary service of Shymkent. This became a symbolic recognition of their contribution to the safety of the region's food system and animal health. Thus, Veterinary Worker Day in 2025 in Shymkent became not just a date on the calendar, but a real opportunity to strengthen the connection between services and the population, update the approach to disease prevention and increase the level of trust in industry specialists. This format of celebration gives hope that the veterinary system of Kazakhstan will develop towards openness, sustainability and technological efficiency.
Veterinary Worker Day celebrated in Shymkent 15.07.2025
On July 10, 2025, Shymkent hosted large-scale events dedicated to Veterinary Worker Day. Unlike the usual celebrations, this day was dedicated not only to congratulations, but also to practical work on the ground - the city's veterinary specialists conducted explanatory visits to farms. The main emphasis was on raising awareness among rural residents in matters of veterinary safety and prevention of animal diseases. The initiative was implemented in accordance with the instructions of the Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Representatives of the territorial inspection of Shymkent, specialists of the department of agriculture and veterinary science, as well as employees of the State Enterprise "Veterinary Service" took part in the action. One of the key objectives of the visits was to inform animal owners about the need to comply with sanitary requirements, timely vaccination, and registration of farm animals through the individual identification system. Specialists emphasized that systematic livestock accounting directly affects the effectiveness of disease control, as well as the quality and safety of livestock products. During the meetings, veterinarians explained in detail how to properly organize the prevention of infectious diseases, what to do at the first signs of disease, and why isolation and treatment of livestock premises are crucial. In addition, it was noted that only with full digital traceability is it possible to build a modern veterinary surveillance system that meets international standards. An important part of the events was the demonstration of new approaches to veterinary infrastructure. Plans were discussed to build additional diagnostic points, improve the equipment of existing facilities and expand access to mobile veterinary teams. Representatives of the city authorities confirmed their readiness to provide support in strengthening the material and technical base of the service, especially in rural areas. The meeting participants paid special attention to the personnel issue. Experienced doctors held mentoring conversations with young specialists, told them about the specifics of the profession, and shared stories from practice. This approach allowed not only to transfer knowledge, but also to strengthen continuity within the professional community. Compared to previous years, the format of the festival has changed significantly. For example, back in 2022, the main focus was on festive gatherings, and meetings with farmers were held sporadically. This year, the emphasis was on building a direct dialogue between veterinary services and rural residents, which is especially relevant in the context of growing epizootic risks and the need to modernize animal movement control. Veterinary Worker's Day in Shymkent became an example of how a professional holiday can become an opportunity to improve the real state of affairs in the industry. It was a day filled with practice, knowledge and responsibility - high-quality interaction between specialists and farmers gave impetus to a more conscious attitude towards animal health. This format of the event increases trust in the veterinary system, raises the prestige of the profession and promotes the development of sustainable agriculture. A veterinarian is not just a specialist in treating animals, but a guardian of public health and safety. That is why attention to his work is an investment in the health of the entire nation.
Digital Transformation of Livestock Farming in Kazakhstan: Prime Minister Instructs to Ensure End-to-End Product Traceability 15.07.2025
On July 8, 2024, a Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov was held, at which the key issue was the digitalization of livestock farming and strengthening of veterinary control. This initiative is aimed at creating a transparent and effective system for tracking all livestock products - from the birth of an animal to its processing and sale. The Minister of Agriculture Aidarbek Saparov and the Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry Zhaslan Madiyev delivered reports. The ministers reported on the progress of implementing digital solutions that should radically change the entire chain of livestock production management. Central to these initiatives is the end-to-end traceability system - a tool that allows tracking the path of products from the moment an animal is born to its processing, transportation and reaching store shelves. The Prime Minister noted that veterinary safety directly affects the country's export potential. Without proper control and transparency, Kazakhstan will not be able to compete in international markets. Therefore, the task has been set to ensure full vaccination coverage of all farm animals, including livestock in private farms. At the same time, each region must be provided with high-quality, affordable veterinary drugs. The emphasis is also on the need to develop domestic production of vaccines and related veterinary products. The farm animal database must be verified by November 1, 2024, to eliminate discrepancies, duplicates and outdated records. And by the end of this year, three ministries - agriculture, digital development and the aeronautical industry - must complete the full digitalization of processes related to the movement of animals and products. In addition, all existing databases will be combined into a single digital platform integrated with the results of the National Agricultural Census. The end-to-end traceability system should not just be a digital tool, but a full-fledged ecosystem that includes registration of the birth of an animal, its vaccination, movement, slaughter, processing and sale of products. This is important for the state, farmers and consumers. The state receives reliable information to manage the industry and prevent disease outbreaks. Farmers — simplified access to subsidies, the ability to confirm the origin of products. Consumers — confidence in the safety and quality of products. Attempts to digitalize the industry have been made before. For example, in 2018, the VetIS system was launched, within which animal registration and product accounting began. However, it was implemented only in pilot regions and faced a number of problems: a shortage of personnel, poor technical equipment, and a lack of coordination between departments. In 2021, online registration of animals and their movements was proposed, but again everything was limited to individual regions, and the systems' data were not integrated with each other. This time, the situation is different. First, there are clear deadlines and objectives. Second, several ministries are involved, which increases the chances of comprehensive implementation. Third, digitalization is part of a broader sustainable rural development strategy for 2023–2027. This demonstrates the political will to change and the willingness to invest in long-term reforms. If all stages are completed on time, Kazakhstan will become one of the first countries in the region with a fully digitalized livestock control system. This will open up new opportunities in foreign markets, strengthen confidence in products in the domestic market, and also increase the level of veterinary safety in the country. Thus, the meeting on July 9, 2024 was not just a discussion of sectoral reform, but a turning point in the development of the agro-industrial complex of Kazakhstan. Unlike previous initiatives, this time there is a systematic approach, a clear distribution of responsibility and an understanding of the ultimate goal - sustainable, transparent and competitive livestock farming.
Disinsection work in Shymkent: systematic pest control 10.07.2025
In July 2025, large-scale disinfection (disinsection) measures against mosquitoes and other harmful insects continue in Shymkent. These works are being carried out in stages in accordance with the approved schedule of the city administration and sanitary safety requirements. Currently, disinfection is actively carried out in parks, flower beds, along ditches and canals, and near residential buildings. Disinsection measures have been intensified in particular in the Tassai, Karatau, Al-Farabi districts and settlements on the outskirts of the city. The main goal of these works is to protect the health of the population and prevent infectious diseases transmitted by mosquitoes and other insects. In particular, ARVI, malaria, dengue fever and other vector-borne diseases are now more common due to climate change and increased rainfall. In this regard, the city administration and sanitary and epidemiological services have taken systematic disinsection measures to identify pest outbreaks early. The substances used in disinfection are specially certified and safe for humans and animals, but residents in the treated areas are required to take precautions. For example, specialists ask not to allow children to play in the treated areas, not to let pets into the area, and to ensure that household items do not come into contact with the disinfected area. In addition, each citizen can keep his yard clean and, if necessary, carry out disinfestation at his own expense. This increases the responsibility of residents to prevent the spread of pests. As experts note, for the work to be qualitative and effective, residents need their own activity and understanding. This is because harmful insects, especially mosquitoes, often breed in stagnant, swampy, and neglected areas. And such areas can also be found in residents' own yards. In this regard, eliminating stagnant water in their yards, turning empty containers upside down, and draining basements are important daily precautions. It should be noted that such disinfection measures are carried out annually in Shymkent. For example, in 2023, large-scale disinsection was carried out twice in the city in the spring and summer. Even then, chemical treatments were carried out against the reproduction of mosquitoes and midges, covering more than 10 thousand hectares. And in 2024, due to the prolonged rainy season and a sharp increase in the number of mosquitoes and flies, the akimat provided additional funding for the treatment work and increased it to three stages. As the experience of these years shows, the work of state institutions alone is not enough - the activity of residents and business entities is also needed. The sanitary condition of the city depends not only on local authorities, but on every city resident. To this end, in 2025, informational memos for residents will be distributed, and warning messages will be sent via television, radio, and social networks. Another innovation of the current disinfection campaign is geolocation monitoring. With the help of special mobile applications and drones, contaminated areas are precisely marked and effective treatment algorithms are applied. This technological innovation ensures that treatment is not repeated, saves time, and does not overuse toxic substances. In conclusion, the ongoing pest control work in Shymkent is not just a seasonal measure, but an important preventive measure that directly affects the quality of life of residents. Taking into account the experience of previous years, the innovations implemented this year and the activity of residents will undoubtedly contribute to the effectiveness of this work. The most important thing is that city residents should contribute to maintaining sanitary cleanliness and preventing danger.
Veterinary Workers' Day celebrated with professional propaganda in Shymkent 15.07.2025
On July 10, 2025, an important event dedicated to the Day of Veterinary Workers was held in Shymkent. This time, the holiday was not limited to traditional congratulations, but was supplemented with specific practical work. As part of this event, organized in accordance with the instructions of the Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, veterinary specialists specially visited farms in the suburbs of the city and conducted extensive explanatory work on animal health, disease prevention, identification systems, and compliance with veterinary and sanitary requirements. The event was attended by specialists from the territorial inspection of Shymkent, representatives of the Department of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, as well as the director and leading specialists of the State Municipal Enterprise "Veterinary Service". Using their experience and knowledge, these specialists directly intervened in the daily work of farms and conducted an open dialogue with livestock owners. The main goal of the meetings is to explain the importance of proper registration of farm animals and tracking their movements. Experts noted that registration through an animal identification system is not only a state requirement, but also a tool that directly affects the preservation of animal health and improving product quality. In addition, this system plays an important role in the production of quality products not only domestically, but also for the international market. The issue of preventing infectious diseases of animals was also not ignored. In particular, detailed information was provided on measures to prevent dangerous infections such as foot-and-mouth disease, rubella, and anthrax, as well as vaccination procedures, quarantine, and disinfection. These measures are aimed at strengthening veterinary safety. In addition, the experts also touched upon the issue of veterinary infrastructure. It was noted that currently one of the main tasks is to strengthen the material and technical base of veterinary stations in cities and villages, provide them with mobile laboratories, and ensure that there is a sufficient supply of necessary medicines and equipment. It was also noted that the local akimat is providing support in these areas. The peculiarity of this event is its focus on working directly with a specific target audience. In previous years, Veterinary Day was often limited to official gatherings and awards. For example, in 2022 and 2023, this holiday was held in Shymkent with conferences, round tables and events to honor veteran veterinarians. However, this time the professional holiday was used as a platform to address the current issues of the industry. Events of this format help to strengthen the relationship between society and veterinary services, as well as to raise the status of specialists. Young specialists also actively participated in this event and received training from experienced colleagues. In some districts, veteran veterinarians organized master classes for the younger generation. This, in turn, was an important step towards maintaining continuity in the field and training qualified specialists. As a result of the festive day, specialists who have shown excellent results in the veterinary field of Shymkent were awarded and their honest work was noted. In addition, a number of new proposals were made, such as further development of livestock farming in the city, strengthening veterinary control, continuing the digitalization process, and increasing the responsibility of livestock owners. In conclusion, the Veterinary Workers' Day, which took place on July 10, 2025 in Shymkent, was an event of great importance for the industry. It was not just a celebration of a professional holiday, but a concrete step towards drawing attention to the specific problems of the entire veterinary system and its development. Such meaningful events will undoubtedly continue in the future and give a new impetus to the development of the agricultural and veterinary sectors of our country.
The professional holiday of veterinary specialists is an important event that raises the prestige of the industry 10.07.2025
On July 10, 2025, a special event dedicated to the Day of Veterinary Workers was held in Shymkent. This was not only a festive gathering, but also a large-scale campaign of a practical and informational nature. The main goal of this day, organized in accordance with the instructions of the Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is to promote the functioning of the veterinary sector in accordance with modern requirements and strengthen the public's attitude towards the industry. The event was attended by specialists from the territorial inspection of Shymkent, employees of the city's Department of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine, as well as the director and leading specialists of the Veterinary Service MCC. They visited farms in the suburbs and conducted detailed explanatory work on the procedures for keeping, registering, and pre-vaccinating farm animals. During the meetings, livestock owners were extensively informed about the importance of the animal identification system. In particular, the need for accurate registration and digitalization of data, its positive impact on product quality control and livestock movement tracking were highlighted. This system is becoming a key tool in increasing the export potential of agricultural products. During the event, there was also a wide discussion about compliance with veterinary and sanitary safety requirements. Specialists explained to the population measures to prevent infectious diseases, the role of vaccination, the procedure for isolating and disinfecting livestock. In addition, the public was informed that the availability of veterinary services in any settlement is a guarantee of national food security. On this day, the issues of planning the construction of new veterinary stations in Shymkent and the modernization of existing infrastructure were also discussed. Currently, the material and technical base in this area requires significant modernization. The lack of veterinary clinics and mobile diagnostic complexes can be an obstacle to the development of livestock farming. Therefore, representatives of the akimat noted that the necessary support will be provided by local authorities. Such explanatory and informational events have been undertaken in this area before, but in 2025 they are being implemented with renewed vigor. For example, while in 2023 the professional holiday of veterinary services was limited to traditional awards and small gatherings, this year's event included an analysis of specific problems and close contact with rural areas. In comparison, the 2022 veterinary event in Shymkent was limited to a conference, where mainly scientific topics were raised. This year's event was organized in a practical manner and focused on working with real farms. This change is a sign that the state veterinary policy is focused on concrete results. During the holiday, experienced veterinarians shared their knowledge and skills and held master classes for young professionals. This is a way to maintain continuity within the industry and draw attention to the problem of a shortage of specialists. Overall, the event, which took place on July 10, was aimed at increasing the role and responsibility of the veterinary sector to society. Animal health is not just a problem for one household, it is part of the entire country's economy and public health system. In conclusion, the 2025 Veterinary Day in Shymkent was a successful step towards developing the internal potential of the industry, establishing an open dialogue with society, and implementing state policy. Such events can not only raise the status of veterinary specialists, but also serve as a basis for the sustainable development of agriculture.
Digital transformation in livestock farming – full product traceability 15.07.2025
On July 8, 2025, at a government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov, the issues of digitalization of livestock farming were considered. Ministers Zhaslan Madiev and Aidarbek Saparov reported on the ongoing reforms in the sector. This event was a very important step to strengthen veterinary control, increase the effectiveness of vaccination, and ensure the export of livestock products. Currently, the livestock population in Kazakhstan has increased to 9.6 million heads, and the area of land sown with fodder is 3.3 million hectares. In this regard, the government aims to accelerate development by allocating 160 billion tenge from the budget. The main result is the creation of a comprehensive (circular) traceability of products. All information on livestock movements, veterinary services, vaccinations, exports and imports will be entered into a single digital platform. The Prime Minister ordered all regions to fully update their data and verify the database by November 1. According to Zhaslan Madiev and Trend.az, the digital system is implementing AI technologies to monitor livestock, prevent diseases, and monitor livestock with drones. This means that the global trend called "precision livestock farming" is being implemented in Kazakhstan. In 2023–2024, reforms were also carried out in livestock farming. Agrarian councils, veterinary campaigns, subsidies, and infrastructure were built. State support during this period amounted to 120 billion - 140 billion tenge. However, productivity and export potential have not yet been fully revealed. The reforms of 2025 are aimed at digitally improving these reforms, that is, they seek to modernize previous practices on a digital basis and more effectively. For example, in 2022-2023, pilot projects based on AI were launched in three regions, but remained out of scale. Last week's decisions required the implementation of a 100% digital system. This means plans to move to a national-scale system that includes the state level, rather than the previously scattered one. If the government's tasks are fully implemented, Kazakhstan will be one of the first countries in Central Asia to introduce a fully digitalized control system in the livestock sector starting in 2025. This will not only strengthen veterinary safety, but will also increase exports abroad, as well as strengthen consumer confidence in the product. In addition, the introduction of an end-to-end traceability system is likely to provide opportunities for rural youth to work in the IT sector and accelerate the digital transformation of the rural economy. The Government meeting held on July 9, 2025 is of historical significance as the beginning of a digital transformation in the livestock sector. Previous reforms - subsidies, infrastructure, advice - are being built on a digital basis, increasing efficiency and export potential. This will bring Kazakhstan's agro-industrial complex to a new level, paving the way for the development of rural regions and technological innovation. This event is a clear manifestation of the harmonious development of the agrarian economy and the digital era.
