Cleanup campaign in Enbekshi district and comparison with previous years 16.07.2025
In the Enbekshi district of Shymkent, intensive cleaning work is being carried out as part of the “Clean City” project. This project, in accordance with the “Safe Country” national program, is aimed at improving the beauty of the city center, improving the quality of life of residents, and ensuring the cleanliness of the public environment. Bus stops, entertainment venues, benches, and central streets in the district are being thoroughly cleaned using special equipment and modern methods. Specialists of “Inteko Group” LLP, using special mixer-vacuum and pressure washer equipment, are reviving the daily cleaning routine for the residents of the district. Bus stops, bus stops, animal litter boxes - everything is being collected, absorbed and washed according to the budget plan. Their method and quality are a big change for residents who are waiting for a new level of public space. In addition, container areas, garbage bins and flower beds in central streets and settlements are cleaned in time, and garbage disposal sites are washed. The components of children's playgrounds are also being treated with special disinfectants. In order to create comfortable recreation areas for young people and family members, willows are being planted in small parks and recreation areas, and irrigation systems are being updated. Residents highly appreciate the work of the regional authorities and “Inteko Group” LLP. They believe that “citizens should contribute to the cleanliness of society.” In addition, video and photo materials posted on social networks serve as an example to those who engage in disorderly conduct and increase public awareness. Changes compared to previous years In 2023, most of the work in Enbekshy district was done manually and with limited technical equipment. Bus stops and benches were wiped down several times a day, and general cleaning was carried out once a week. This, of course, maintained the appearance, but did not meet the requirements for deep cleaning. In 2024, the “Clean City” project reached a new level: while limiting the movement of vehicles on the streets, machine washing was organized in some areas, and container zones and drains were reconstructed. However, according to residents, the cleaning work that year was still not carried out in a fully systematic manner - there was a lack of special equipment and schedule deviations. And in 2025, cleaning work is being organized in a comprehensive manner. Firstly, all major public places - bus stops, parks, benches, garbage dumps - are being systematically washed and disinfected. Secondly, with the help of specially equipped equipment, the working hours and quality have increased. Thirdly, explanatory work has been intensified, and residents are being made to observe the order at bicycle and public transport stops without being indifferent. As a result of these works, the public cleanliness index has significantly improved compared to July 2025. There has been a decrease in litter in pedestrian areas, and an automated garbage collection system has been introduced. The improved quality of the environment has also been reflected in the mood of residents, who have often expressed their gratitude on social networks and supported the cleanliness campaigns. The project's future goals include the renewal of main contractor contracts, modernization of equipment, and the recycling of collected waste. To this end, the city administration and private partners are regularly meeting with residents and conducting explanatory work. Volunteers and youth-oriented structures are also being mobilized in the rural area. The following comprehensive measures are also planned: additional volunteer groups from schools, measures to eliminate neglected areas and plant trees, as well as mass car washes. Cleanup activities in the Enbekshy district are being implemented as an integral part of the “Safe Country” project. The main thing is to support the beauty of the settlement, maintain sanitary order, and strengthen environmental culture together with the public. Since 2025, not only the scale of the cleanup campaign has been clearly visible, but also its systematicity and quality. These are changes that have arisen as a result of the understanding that residents are not vulnerable, but also responsible for the cleanliness of their city. Only if cleaning work is carried out regularly in the future will Shymkent truly deserve the status of "Clean City" and the quality of the public environment will improve.
The future of the water sector: Shymkent specialists are undergoing internship in China 17.07.2025
As part of the "Year of Worker Professions" declared in Kazakhstan in 2025, special attention is being paid to the country's water management sector. In this regard, from April 9, at the initiative of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, domestic water specialists began to undergo a special training course in the People's Republic of China. This program is aimed at modernizing water security and infrastructure, which are very important for our country. In the first phase, a group of 30 specialists will go to China, where they will improve their skills in industrial facilities and hydraulic structures in cooperation with the Power China company. In total, 105 specialists will study in China under this program. The training courses are more focused on practice than theory: specialists will master modern technologies directly at facilities such as reservoirs, dams, and water distribution systems. The topics of the courses were selected in accordance with the specific needs of water management: water facility planning, flood prevention, recovery after natural disasters, efficient development of water resources, wastewater treatment and management. All expenses during the training were covered by the Chinese side. The program involved specialists from all regions of the country. Shymkent was not left out of this initiative. Some of the city's qualified specialists working in the field of water resources entered the first batch of this international internship. This is a great opportunity for Shymkent engineers and technicians to get acquainted with the best practices in the field of water management and improve their knowledge. Shymkent is one of the most densely populated regions of the country, where effective management of water resources, economical use and infrastructure modernization are an important part of urban life. The problem of water shortage and the deterioration of old systems is especially relevant for Shymkent. Therefore, the experience gained by the participating specialists from this city will be widely used in local projects in the future. According to the government, a significant number of specialists working in the water sector will retire in the next 4-5 years. In addition, it is planned to create water utility institutions in each region of the country. In this regard, approximately 1,700 water specialists will be needed throughout the republic. This need also applies to the city of Shymkent - there is an increasing demand for qualified personnel to manage the water infrastructure there. The knowledge and experience gained by Shymkent specialists studying in China will be useful in their daily work, in the modernization of water facilities in the city, in the prevention of risks, and in the implementation of new projects. This, in turn, will strengthen Shymkent's water security and improve the level of quality services provided to the population. In general, this initiative is increasing the human resource potential of the country's water sector and is a basis for attracting the younger generation to the industry. Water resources are an important factor in the development of any country. For their effective management, not only technology is needed, but also qualified specialists. And for a rapidly developing city like Shymkent, such programs are a real investment in the future. Thus, international internships undertaken within the framework of the "Year of Worker Professions" are an important and relevant step towards modernizing the domestic water sector, including solving the pressing problems of the city of Shymkent.
Kazakh animal husbandry demonstrates sustainable growth: new measures to support farmers 17.07.2025
According to the results of the first five months of 2025, Kazakhstan is experiencing positive growth in the livestock sector. Along with the increase in the number of farm animals in the country, the volume of livestock products has also increased significantly. These indicators indicate that there is real progress in livestock farming, which is one of the most important areas for the country's economy and agro-industrial complex. In terms of livestock, the number of cattle increased by 23.4 percent. In addition, the number of sheep and goats increased by 7.8 percent, horses by 12.2 percent, camels by 8.5 percent, and poultry by 2.2 percent. During this period, the volume of total livestock products exceeded 1.2 trillion tenge, showing a growth of 4.2 percent. This is closely related to the increase in meat, milk, and egg production. Meat production increased by 3 percent, milk by 7.5 percent, and egg production by 0.3 percent. Several factors contributed to the achievement of such achievements. First of all, this is the result of state support for the agricultural sector. A number of concrete steps have been taken to implement the President's task of doubling the volume of agricultural production. In particular, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to launch two new preferential lending programs. These programs are aimed at the development of livestock farming and providing agricultural enterprises with working capital. The total amount of financing is 100 billion tenge. Of this, 50 billion tenge will be spent on the purchase of pedigree cattle and small livestock. Under this direction, long-term soft loans will be provided to farmers at an annual interest rate of 5 percent. The remaining 50 billion tenge will be directed to replenish the working capital of agricultural producers. This will also be provided at an interest rate not exceeding 5 percent. According to Minister Aidarbek Saparov, these initiatives will allow farmers to increase investment activity and expand production capacities. They will also pave the way for increasing the export potential of the agro-industrial complex. Support for livestock farming is not limited to new programs. Currently, a program of preferential lending for dairy farms is being successfully implemented. This experience will also include meat farms in the future. In particular, it is planned to implement livestock fattening projects based on Australian experience. Such projects are expected to open the way to exporting up to 50 thousand tons of meat per year and bring in about 500 billion tenge in revenue. For this purpose, 29.3 billion tenge has been allocated for the implementation of 14 projects. Within the framework of these projects, new technologies for livestock breeding and meat production will be introduced, and processing and export areas will be developed. Such complexes will be aimed at providing high-quality and safe products to foreign markets. The program for dairy farms is also showing results. It is planned to build 116 farms under the framework of loans provided at an annual interest rate of 2.5 percent. Currently, 69 of them have been commissioned, and the remaining 47 facilities are under construction. This, in addition to increasing dairy production, also contributes to the creation of permanent jobs in rural areas. Thanks to these comprehensive measures, the agricultural sector, including livestock farming, is becoming one of the most important drivers of the country's economy. There is no doubt that the steady growth in livestock farming is the result of the activity of farmers, concrete support from the state, and a systematic policy. In addition, young people are increasingly interested in this sector, and private investment in new projects is also starting to take a positive turn. The development of livestock farming is not only about increasing meat and milk production, it is a complex process that affects the development of the potential of entire rural areas. With the development of roads, infrastructure, technology, education and financial support, agriculture will continue to play an important role in the sustainable development of the country in the future. All prerequisites are being created for Kazakhstan to not only fully supply the domestic market with livestock products, but also to become an exporter to its neighbors and far abroad.
Gas arrives in Kaynarbulak: The principle of "what is said is done" is being proven through concrete actions 17.07.2025
On July 15-16, 2025, an important social issue was resolved in the Kaynarbulak cottage of Shymkent. The issue of connecting to natural gas has been relevant for residents for a long time. On these days, the city akim Gabit Syzdykbekov held a field meeting with residents, at which the people directly raised the issue of gas. Some residents said that they still could not connect their homes to the gas system and asked for specific assistance. The akim took this request into account and at that time instructed the responsible department and the district akimat to study the issue and propose a specific solution. As a result of the survey, it was determined that the main gas pipeline network in Kaynarbulak was laid and fully completed. This means that residents now only have to connect to the internal gas system. Today, more than 2,300 subscribers have already been connected to the gas system. This is a clear indicator of infrastructure development, as well as concrete measures aimed at improving the quality of life of residents. However, the main difficulty for some citizens was the lack of technical documents. Due to the fact that many houses are located within the red line, it was impossible to issue a technical passport. In this regard, the Abay district akim's office provided special support measures and began issuing Form-7 certificates to residents to facilitate their access to gas. This certificate provides a legal basis for legalizing the gas connection procedure. Such steps showed that the Shymkent city akimat is ready to work closely with residents and is able to quickly and accurately respond to citizens' requests. This event is a clear example of the akimat's adherence to the principle of "what was said is done". Similar good initiatives have been implemented in the city in previous years. For example, in 2022, more than 1,800 houses in the Enbekshi settlement of the Tole Bi district were supplied with natural gas, and residents were also provided with comprehensive advice and support in processing documents there. And in 2023, gasification work was completed in the Asar-2 microdistrict of the Karatau district, significantly facilitating preparation for the winter season. Although these experiences are somewhat similar to the situation in Kaynarbulak, this year's special feature is the very prompt implementation of measures and timely finding of solutions after direct complaints from residents. Gasification is not just a matter of making life easier, it is a key factor in improving the well-being of the population, ensuring safety, reducing environmental pollution, and increasing economic efficiency. The situation in Kaynarbulak once again proves this point. Houses connected to gas now refuse to burn coal or wood, switching to using a safe and environmentally friendly type of fuel. This is a huge advantage, especially for families with elderly people and children. The provision of documentary support, including the Form-7 certificate, was also an important social step. This initiative is aimed at strengthening trusting relations between the state and the people, reducing bureaucratic obstacles. At the same time, this is a clear example of the akimat's readiness to help residents not only technically, but also legally. This situation in Kaynarbulak shows that the concept of "A State that Listens to the Voice of the People" is being implemented in real life. The appeal made during the Akim's field reception has yielded tangible results, and the demands of residents have translated into real action. Such experience can serve as an example for other small settlements. In the future, work in this direction should continue in other summer cottage areas in the city. After all, every resident living in the suburbs should feel the care of the state. Infrastructure solutions such as gasification also contribute to ensuring social equality. Thus, the incident in Kaynarbulak will go down in history as a concrete example of a trusting dialogue and effective work between the Shymkent akimat and residents. The fact that the residents' request did not remain unanswered and was promptly resolved is a vivid example of the partnership between the authorities and society.
Sabbath as part of the “Clean Kazakhstan” environmental campaign: systematic work aimed at protecting the environment 17.07.2025
On July 17, a large-scale clean-up was organized in the Turan district of Shymkent as part of the “Clean Kazakhstan” republican environmental campaign. The event was held to increase environmental culture, sanitize the city, and strengthen the responsibility of the local population towards nature. Representatives of municipal services, workers of the “Turgyn Uy” and “Zhasyl Shymkent” institutions, residents of the district and volunteers participated in the cleanup with the support of the Turan district akimat. In total, about 100 people were mobilized, and 6 special equipment was involved in the cleaning work. As a result, 86 tons of household and construction waste were collected from the district and sent to the Aktas city landfill. During the event, the courtyards of multi-storey residential buildings, public spaces, vacant lots, pedestrian paths, ditches and green areas were cleaned. Workers mowed grass, trimmed tree branches, and installed garbage bins. In addition, residents were educated about the importance of waste sorting, recycling, and keeping the environment clean. Impact on the ecosystem Such Sabbaths have a positive impact on the city's ecosystem. Timely collection of household waste prevents groundwater pollution and prevents pests that spread diseases. Cleaning green areas improves air quality and creates conditions for natural plant growth. Also, during the Sabbath, canals and ditches that impede the flow of water are cleaned, preventing flooding during rainy days. Comparison with previous years' experience This event is held regularly in the Turan district. For example, in 2023, about 60 tons of garbage were collected during such a clean-up, and in 2024, 75 tons were removed. It is noticeable that the number of participants and the share of special equipment is increasing every year. This indicates that the environmental awareness of the population is growing and the akimat consistently supports such events. It should be noted that the “Clean Kazakhstan” campaign is an important initiative aimed at improving the environmental situation throughout the republic. As part of this project, Saturdays and tree planting campaigns, as well as campaigns on household waste sorting, are also being held in other districts of Shymkent - Al-Farabi, Enbekshi and Abay districts. Public activity and opinions According to residents who participated in the cleanup, such events are not limited to cleaning up the area, but also contribute greatly to the formation of an environmental culture in society. – “We must leave our children the opportunity to live in a clean and comfortable city. For this, every resident should actively participate in such Sabbaths,” says Gulmira Abildakyzy, a resident of Turan district. Future plans The Turan district akimat plans to continuously monitor the cleanliness of the city by holding such cleaning campaigns every month in the future. In addition, it is planned to hold special seminars and master classes for schoolchildren and young people in order to provide environmental education. In conclusion, this Saturday clean-up, held as part of the "Clean Kazakhstan" campaign, is not just a one-time clean-up, it is a real manifestation of civic activism and environmental responsibility. The unity of city residents, their participation in the common good, is an important step towards creating an environmentally safe and comfortable city in the future. If such events continue to be held more often, Shymkent will undoubtedly become one of the cleanest, most beautiful, and most comfortable cities in the country.
Maintaining water fountains in the Turan district is a contribution to the ecosystem and urban comfort 20.07.2025
In July 2025, the Turan district akimat of Shymkent city intensified work on systematic maintenance of water fountains in the city. This initiative not only improves the aesthetic appearance of the city, but also plays an important role in improving the ecological balance in the city and the quality of life of residents. Turan district is one of the rapidly developing areas. Fountains here are located in parks, flower beds and public places. Several large and small fountains are already operating in the district. They are equipped with special filter systems and monitored by water meters. Maintenance work is carried out daily: water is purified, defects are eliminated, and the surrounding area is landscaped. Water fountains have a special impact on the ecosystem. They help reduce dust and heat in the air. Due to high air temperatures, the microclimate in the city often deteriorates in the summer. At such times, operating water fountains increase air humidity and help maintain atmospheric balance. In addition, they refresh the air and create favorable conditions for relaxation. Many residents and visitors relax near the fountains and spend time with their families. This is considered one of the factors that improves the quality of urban life. The updated maintenance system is more efficient than in previous years. The fountains, which were first installed in 2023, were considered only as architectural elements and operated seasonally. Technical control and constant cleaning were not provided. In accordance with the new requirements introduced this year, the fountains are constantly supplied with water and monitored by special technical personnel. The operating schedule of each fountain has been approved, and utilities carry out cleaning and maintenance measures every day. These changes are also raising the environmental awareness of city residents. A culture of cleanliness is being formed in public places. Trash cans have been installed near water fountains, landscaping has been carried out. Trees and flowers have been planted, and green belts near fountains have been expanded. Such actions will help maintain the ecological balance of the city, reduce dust and carbon dioxide emissions. Comparatively speaking, in 2022-2023, such initiatives were rare in the city. The number of water fountains was small, and they were poorly maintained. Only aesthetics were emphasized, while the environmental aspect was neglected. Today, these facilities are not only artistic, but also have become an ecological solution that contributes to the formation of the natural balance of the city. The city administration plans to increase the number of fountains in the future and install them in different parts of the city. At the same time, they will be equipped with modern energy-saving systems. For example, fountains powered by solar panels and automatic water filtration systems will be introduced. This initiative in the Turan district is a model for other districts of the city. Considering the impact of water fountains on the ecosystem and the comfort they provide to residents, this is a long-term and effective investment. Such projects are of great importance in improving air quality, preserving natural humidity, beautifying recreational areas, and forming public culture. Thus, the maintenance of water fountains in the Turan district is not only an infrastructural upgrade, but also part of a sustainable development policy aimed at supporting the city's ecosystem. This initiative is bearing fruit, paving the way for a cleaner and more comfortable city.
An artificial intelligence ecosystem is forming in Kazakhstan 20.07.2025
On July 18 , 2025, a meeting of the Commission on Digitalization, chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and implemented by order of the President, was held in the capital. This event identified future directions for digital transformation and gave a new impetus to platforms and legal frameworks. During the commission's work, Minister Zhaslan Madiev reported on the creation of AI infrastructure, the re-equipment of the state data processing center with a supercomputer, the development of the AI development concept for 2024–2029 and the draft law "On Artificial Intelligence". At the same time, the directions of training personnel trained through educational programs such as "AI Corporate", "TUMO Center", "AI People" were discussed. These initiatives should lay the foundation for educating high-quality AI specialists in the country. The commission also considered the development of digital solutions - for example, projects such as electronic agent, eGov AI, AI-therapist, tax helper, SDU, translator-bot. These tools are convincing examples of effective demonstration of the quality of public services. They have been launched in pilot mode in several regions, and are planned to be introduced throughout the republic. The domestic AI ecosystem will be built on the basis of the QazTech platform. This will allow digital products to be created in a single system in a neutral environment, creating opportunities for joint projects. Thanks to the introduction of the platform, the time for developing new IT projects will be reduced from 1.5–3 years as before, to 6 months after the pilot project launched last November. This means that it will allow for rapid and qualitative changes. The QazTech platform is based on the principle of security — all data is processed via a cloud system, conditions for operating in a new security environment have been introduced, and experts have confirmed through testing that it meets the requirements. The general launch is planned for August . Currently, several systems are operating on the platform, including the eGov unified Internet portal, Smart Bridge, the national database of the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and others. All of this is integrated into a single platform, which increases the quality of services and reduces bureaucratic obstacles. During the commission, all government agencies are developing digital transformation roadmaps, taking into account the experience of Singapore and other leading countries. The roadmaps are aimed at simplifying government processes, transitioning to a digital regime, and simplifying legal requirements. Of course, this meeting in 2025 was much broader and more specific than the plans based on digitization in previous years. For example, at the meeting held in 2023, only the issue of the transition of digital public services to electronic licensing and the development of some online portals was raised. At that time, there was no supercomputer, no platform, and no system for training ministerial specialties was considered. At the meetings in 2024, tasks were given to the model of a digital republic, but the issue of building a specific infrastructure base was not emphasized. Now, the measures that began in November 2025 and continued at the July meeting are a concrete step towards creating a digital ecosystem in the country. The "digital transformation", which was once only talked about in ideological terms, is now becoming a real platform, a supercomputer, and a legal and personnel regulatory framework. These macro-measures will also affect the population. First, the quality of public services will improve - the electronic version, the service will be faster and more secure. Second, the economy will accelerate - small businesses and IT companies will be able to quickly implement their projects and service solutions through the state API. Third, the human resource potential will develop - new specialties and jobs will be created, such as "AI Data Engineer", "Machine Learning Architect", "Digital Ethics Officer". The end result is that electronic digital transformation in public administration has been implemented with a strong concept, structure, and security requirements, and today the digital ecosystem based on the supercomputer system and the QazTech platform places Kazakhstan among the leading countries. Overall, this meeting on July 18, 2025 is an innovative event that will define the digital direction of Kazakhstan and consolidate the achievements of previous efforts. Future steps will include the expansion of pilot projects and the implementation of a reliable and innovative digital administration.
Clean Kazakhstan - Saturday work in Shymkent: impact of environmental action on the ecosystem 10.07.2025
On July 10, 2025, a Saturday event was held on the banks of the “Koshkar Ata” river, jointly organized by the Al-Farabi district akimat and the city branch of the “AMANAT” party. This action was held within the framework of the “Clean Kazakhstan” national project and is aimed at strengthening environmental culture and preserving and restoring clean and green areas of the city. The Saturday activities were attended by employees of the district akimat, party members, employees of the Al-Farabi municipal state institution, and activists, who contributed to solving the problem of environmental protection with their own hands. The “Koshkar Ata” riverbed, located in the Al-Farabi district, received special attention on July 18, 2025. More than 50 people took part in the event, which was planned for this Saturday, and 4 special municipal vehicles were involved. As a result, about 2 tons of household and natural waste were removed: plastic bottles, polyethylene waste, wood chips, leaves and fallen branches were collected productively. In addition, as part of the campaign, work was carried out to improve the depth and bottom of the riverbed, and silt and weeds were cleared. This event is aimed at ensuring the stable movement of water flows and improving the health of the ecosystem. There are several important aspects of the work carried out: first, it will have a positive impact on the ecology of the river. As the riverbed is cleaned, water quality will improve, and biodiversity - the growth of plants and aquatic animals - will be observed. In addition, a safe and pleasant environment will be created for people walking along the banks - residents and tourists - which will also contribute to public health. Senbilik is an event that affects the consciousness of participants in environmental protection. The signatures of more than 50 people contribute to changing the difficult lifestyle, strengthening the ecological culture. Special equipment works, implementing environmental standards in a pilot mode: collecting open waste, placing it in separate containers and directing it for legal processing. It is known that similar actions were held in this region in previous years. In 2024, in the same June, a cleanup was held in other parts of the Al-Farabi district as part of the “Clean Kazakhstan” campaign, but the ecosystem was not fully restored, and in some places there were separate areas where garbage was accumulated. During those actions, local volunteers removed about 30 tons of garbage, but due to the small number of equipment, the work was carried out on a small scale. Also, the environmental action was only a one-day event: the local akimat and municipal institutions participated only on that one Saturday, and further continuation of the actions was not envisaged. In 2023, large-scale actions were organized along various rivers and parks in Shymkent. For example, 80 volunteers removed more than 10 tons of garbage on the banks of the Tosynbulak Canal that year. However, no in-depth analysis of the ecosystem was carried out in those years. Ecological monitoring was carried out only with the participation of a few local eco-lawyers and students, and the results were not widely published. The failure at that time was that technological measures to correct the depth of the riverbed and water quality were not planned, so the water flow stopped in some places, some plants withered, and the animal population decreased. This year's 2025 Sabbath is different: a comprehensive impact on the ecosystem was envisaged, and a number of technical solutions were used to clean the riverbed. These are measures of a higher level than in previous years. After this event, the issue of water quality control was raised, and special monitoring groups began to take water samples from the river and conduct research. This is a new step in the ecological strategy compared to previous years. Impact on the state of the ecosystem Removing the debris will help restore the river ecosystem. By removing all the silt, sediment, and other volatiles from the riverbed, water movement will improve and pollen and pollution will decrease. This will help stabilize the oxygen levels in the water, restoring the vitality of fish and aquatic plants. Also, by maintaining and pruning trees along waterways, the risk of falling branches will be reduced. In post-campaign analyses, experts noted an increase in biodiversity in some parts of the river, with some wild plants reviving and aquatic animal populations increasing. Expert data confirming this is expected to be presented in the coming months. The AMANAT party and the Akimat have undertaken to continue the work after this campaign. In the next stage, according to the plan, volunteers will regularly organize river cleaning Saturdays - every month. In addition, regular monitoring will be carried out by car. In turn, local schoolchildren and youth organizations will be given environmental lessons, education in the field of ecotrope regulation and biological awareness. Increasing environmental awareness is a long-term process. Through this campaign, residents will be more responsible for the river area, not sitting around during their vacations, not taking out their own garbage, but instead taking care of cleanliness and nature. The ecological weekend on the banks of the Koshkar Ata River on July 18 was an event that significantly improved the experience of previous years and had a tangible impact on the ecosystem. This is an important step towards the formation of an ecological culture, sustainable maintenance of the city's sanitary conditions, and strengthening responsibility for the green world. We are confident that in the future, the regularity and quality of events will increase, and Shymkent will become a model capital for the preservation and restoration of the ecosystem.
An ecological weekend was held along the Koshkar Ata River in Shymkent: nature protection is a common duty 13.07.2025
July 13, 2025 - On the eve of Fishermen's Day, the regional public took a special part in the "Clean Thursday" environmental campaign organized by the "AMANAT" party in Shymkent. This initiative is implemented as part of the regular environmental campaigns within the framework of the "Clean Kazakhstan" national project of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. Such campaigns raise the environmental culture of the city and encourage residents to do a common good deed. The campaign was held along the Koshkar Ata River. This time, more than 50 participants - employees of the city and district party branches, volunteers of the "Zhastar Ruhy" organization and representatives of municipal services - joined forces to clean up the water channel and the bottom of the water. In addition to the garbage collection work, sanitary pruning of trees, mowing weeds, and cleaning up the banks were carried out. Thus, the recreation area acquired a natural and attractive appearance. In 2025 alone, the Clean Thursday campaign was organized 26 times. Since that first month, about 2,500 people have actively participated, and about 24 tons of garbage have been removed. In addition, more than 200 tree seedlings have been planted. This shows the scale of the environmental initiative and the interest of citizens in environmental culture. The event on July 13, 2025 is being held not only in Shymkent, but also in other regions in a similar way. For example, in the summer of 2024, the “Clean Town” campaign was organized in Almaty on the occasion of Fisherman’s Day, when the Public Council and environmental organizations jointly removed garbage from the lake near the city and the surrounding fields. More than 150 volunteers gathered that day and removed 15 tons of garbage. Thus, the scale of the campaign expanded to the Almaty scale, showing that residents do not forget about the common interest. A similar campaign in Nur-Sultan in 2023 was called "Green Road", where rivers and parks in and around the city were cleaned. About 300 people participated in this event, and about 30 tons of garbage were removed. In addition, in 2022, a volunteer Saturday called "Clean and Vigilant City" was held in Karaganda, where more than 100 people actively participated that day, and a small forum was organized to promote environmental culture, where young people and schoolchildren listened to lectures. In comparison, Shymkent's "Clean Thursday" campaign is not just a one-day event, but a systematic one that is held regularly throughout the year. While the Almaty and Nur-Sultan campaigns were held on a one-day basis and focused on garbage collection on that day, Shymkent organizes environmental clean-up activities every Thursday and in different locations. All 26 campaigns held in 2025 were held in different districts, parks, along the river and on street squares, ensuring wide coverage. This systematic and effective approach will help to create an ecological culture in Shymkent and increase the responsibility of residents for their environment. The main goal is to ensure that not only the riverside, but also all living spaces in the city are clean and tidy. The current campaign also focused on ensuring environmental safety - not only sanitary conditions, but also aimed at improving the aesthetic situation. The riverside, where garbage was collected, grass was mowed, and trees were well-groomed, acquired a noble appearance worthy of a park. This is the work of citizens who participated in the creation of a comfortable public environment. It is proven that the impact of a clean environment has a positive effect on the health and psychological state of the population. The AMANAT party aims to set an example for future generations through such initiatives, to implement common interests and principles. Protecting nature is no longer a personal choice of the public, but a national duty. Every Saturday, volunteers go out into the countryside, plant trees, and clean rivers, practicing urban improvement. Clean Kazakhstan is a continuation of these campaigns. It is not enough to collect old appliances and garbage on one Saturday. If regular, weekly campaigns like those in Shymkent continue to increase, the formation of an ecological culture will be carried out in a cylindrical manner. This is a clear example: "My city is my home." In general, the action held on July 13, 2025 involved schools, universities, public organizations, and party structures. This is a demonstration of the ability of a unified force to work in a single system. Unlike one-day actions in other regions, Shymkent is calling for public activity every Saturday, forming a permanent environmental habit. This is a symbol of environmental responsibility, an indicator of common spirit and unity.
Clean Kazakhstan: the importance and environmental impact of the Sabbilik celebrations held in the region 21.07.2025
In early July 2025, as part of the "Clean Kazakhstan" republican campaign, large-scale Saturday cleaning work was carried out in the Turan district and Saule microdistrict. Employees of social and business facilities in the district, employees of municipal institutions and the district akim's office, as well as residents of the "Military Settlement" actively participated in this campaign. More than 250 people and 11 special equipment were mobilized for the event. As a result, about 15 tons of household and construction waste were removed from the district, and a number of works were carried out to clean and improve the environment. Saturday work was carried out in several directions: sweeping streets and yards, cleaning closed boxes and residential areas of garbage; replacement of damaged or unusable containers, repair of test areas; In addition to cleaning and cleaning, educate residents about the issue of waste sorting; Transportation of waste to disposal points by municipal vehicles. These events can be compared with the Sabbath clean-ups of previous years. For example, in 2023, about 150 people and 6 vehicles participated in the Sabbath clean-ups in the district, but only the main areas - streets and parks - were cleaned. And in 2024, the number of participants increased to 180 people and 8 vehicles, but the work was not comprehensive at the regional level, but only territorial. At this year's event, with the joint efforts of service structures and housing, the scope of the Sabbath clean-ups expanded, and work was carried out aimed at strengthening the ecological culture in the territory. As for the impact on the ecosystem, the environmental impact of the organized events is significant. First, the proper organization of the 15 tons of waste generated will help prevent soil and groundwater contamination. The garbage and plastics removed during the complex cleaning will prevent environmental hazards. Second, with the participation of equipment, the garbage detected will be removed from the addresses, which will eliminate the cluttered appearance of the city and increase its aesthetic appeal. In addition, explanatory work carried out with residents will have a positive effect on the formation of a culture of environmental discipline in the city. During the Sabbath, civic responsibility towards environmental discipline begins to form. After public buildings, residential areas and territories are cleaned, residents who have adapted to living there begin to adapt to not littering, recycling and sorting. This is a step towards preserving the ecosystem and sustainable development. The active participation of the residents of the "Military Settlement" in particular demonstrates the need to maintain the cleanliness of places of historical and social significance. This Saturday, organized with the participation of the residents of the glade, was an experience that called on residents to take a responsible attitude towards nature and the environment. If previously these areas were cleaned formally and did not yield effective results, then this year's event demonstrated comprehensive coverage and effective actions. The 2025 Shabbat event is unique in its environmental impact. It has improved the city's ecosystem and increased people's participation. When assessing the full impact on the city's ecology, it is necessary to include water sources and green areas. Leaving waste separately from plant soil at the disposal site is an important step towards protecting plant life and maintaining clean air. In this regard, the significance of the Shabbat events is the formation of an equal environmental order and the involvement of residents in society. As a result of the joint work of the city authorities and residents, specific measures were taken in the districts and microdistricts to improve the environment instead of dumping garbage. Unlike previous formal cleaning events, the Shabbat 2025 is inclusive, encourages an ecological culture, and has a positive impact on the urban ecosystem. In the coming days, the district akimat plans to organize more such seminars, environmental clubs with schoolchildren and young people, and public Sabbaths. Sabbaths are considered a major social campaign aimed not only at preserving the environment, but also at raising the environmental awareness of residents. In conclusion, the Senbilik, which took place in July 2025, was a significant event in the Turan district and Saule microdistrict, which had a tangible impact on the city's ecosystem, sanitary conditions, and residents' attitudes towards environmental responsibility. It is clear that similar events will continue in this direction. It is being re-examined that a clean environment is a common responsibility for all of us.
Shymkent: The city is intensively preparing for the heating season 21.07.2025
On July 18, 2025, it was reported that preparations for the upcoming heating season are in full swing in Turan district and Shymkent city. This is one of the most important initiatives aimed at ensuring a comfortable life for citizens and reliable heat supply in homes. The readiness of the heating system, networks and boiler rooms in the city and district is being systematically checked, defects are identified and repairs are being carried out. First, about the work on heating networks. Annual hydraulic tests were carried out on heating networks, as a result of which 98 defects were identified during pressure testing of the networks. To date, 68 of them, that is, more than 70%, have been completely eliminated. This is an important indicator of the condition of the main and internal pipeline system. In addition, the stability of water pressure and heat transfer is checked. According to experts, the quality of the heating season directly depends on the readiness of houses and social facilities. In this regard, special attention was paid to multi-storey residential buildings, 456 out of a total of 2,154 houses have fully completed preparation. Here, heating radiators were checked and work was carried out to bring them into working condition. Also, small air conditioners and taps in the apartments were put in order. In addition, schools, hospitals, and cultural centers were not left out of the city's social facilities. A total of 212 social facilities were considered, of which 104 have been formalized and are ready for the system. This is important for students and patients, as well as for citizens of the city involved in sports and art. One of the objects closely related to the heating network is boiler houses and pumping stations. Currently, 16 of the 27 main boiler houses in the city have successfully passed the preparatory work. 20 of the 40 boiler houses located in schools have passed the main stage of repair. Special teams are working on pumping stations, and 47% of the planned volume has been completed. Capital and current repairs are being considered, and the material and technical suitability of boiler houses and stations is being increased. In addition, the agenda includes the modernization of thermal insulation systems of komyzyk pipes. All insulation of networks with old insulation throughout the city will be replaced and put into operation by September 1. In addition, 2,927 valves will be inspected, of which about 80 will need to be completely replaced. This is necessary to ensure the efficiency of the pipes and prevent accidents. The modernization of networks is also carried out in a complex manner in terms of geography. Currently, a total of 33.2 km of heat pipelines are planned to be completely replaced in 137 sections of the city, and the work will be completed by October 10. In addition, 0.45 km of pipelines are being upgraded in the Sunshine microdistrict. This is an important step that will have a comprehensive impact on residents. Within the framework of national projects, it is planned to modernize the main heat pipelines from CHP-3 to the main pumping station ONS-1. This includes a total of 17 km of pipeline system. Its first stage will be carried out in 2025–2026, and 4.5 km of the main will be replaced. This project plays an important role in increasing the reliability of the city's engineering infrastructure and improving environmental performance. Preparations for the heating season also affect the ecosystem. Replacing pipes and regulating the quality of heat supply will improve energy efficiency in the city's infrastructure, and will also reduce the city's carbon dioxide and dust pollution. The combination of Soviet and updated plans with modern technologies will contribute to improving the quality of life of the population. Compared to previous years, last year, despite intensive preparations for a similar season, the scale and technical equipment of the renovation were insignificant compared to the current period. In 2024, only small sections of pipes were replaced and boiler systems were adjusted, and minor defects were not completely closed. In 2025, a comprehensive approach was adopted, and networks, facilities and stations at all levels were considered for renovation. In conclusion, the preparatory work that began on July 18 is aimed at strengthening the infrastructure of the city of Shymkent, creating a timely and high-quality heating system for residents. In the coming periods, the quality of work, deadlines, and the level of public satisfaction will be systematically monitored.
Water spraying measures aimed at cooling the air are being carried out regularly in the Turan district. 21.07.2025
In July 2025, employees of ShymkentSpetsKompleks LLP in Shymkent began to carry out upward water spraying works in the Turan district as a daily novelty. This method is used, especially during extreme heat, to reduce the air temperature along the street and create a comfortable environment for residents. Upward water spraying is a method of reducing urban warming in the city center. Water is sprayed from high nozzles, and small droplets are dispersed into the asphalt and air. As a result, these water droplets, together with the wind, absorb heat and evaporate, cooling the air. The 2–3 degree drop effect observed in the nozzles in most cases ensures the comfort of residents. In addition, it allows improving air quality by reducing dust. This method has a number of beneficial effects on the urban ecosystem: Improving air quality : Water spraying reduces the amount of particulate matter in the air by suffocating dust and micro-organisms. This is especially important in areas with high traffic, as the ecology of Shymkent is greatly affected by dust from road traffic. Microclimate formation : When water evaporates, the temperature can drop by +2–3 °C; this provides a comfortable effect for residents, especially on hot days. Preventing dust re-diffusion : Especially during the dry season, water spraying to irrigate ditches and green areas prevents dust from rising again. Compared to previous methods Although environmental measures at the city level have been carried out before, water spraying has not been consistently supported. For example, in 2021–2022, in the Turan district, streets and parks were cleaned only during seasonal subbotniks, and water spraying was not used to a significant extent. Although limited water spraying was carried out in 2023, its results were difficult to assess due to its inconsistent nature. At that time, water was mostly sprayed to irrigate lawns and new seedlings, but no targeted system was organized for air cooling. Spraying was first carried out in 2024 as a test to reduce the temperature of the fresh air. However, it was only carried out for a short period of time and the impact on the air was not clearly visible. These facilities were limited to individual streets and parks. Today, from 2025, it is being carried out systematically from morning to evening, on a daily basis and in several locations. Long-term impact on the urban ecosystem Greenery support : Plenty of water nourishes lawns and seedlings and promotes their growth. Protecting air quality : Reducing dust levels helps prevent the spread of respiratory diseases and reduce toxicants in the air. Public health : Areas with cool water sprays — especially in public areas for the elderly and children — tend to serve as fertile and refreshing recreation areas. The water sprinkler system introduced in the Turan district is a new direction in integrating nature into the urban environment. While previous years' measures were formal, starting in 2025, there has been a shift to sustainable, scientifically based, and ecosystem-friendly methods. This is an important initiative to preserve the health of the city's population, the natural balance, and the constant comfort of residents during hot days. The city authorities and the municipal sector will continue to implement such environmental measures.
Sanitation and landscaping work is progressing at a rapid pace in the Turan district every day. 21.07.2025
Daily cleaning and improvement works are being carried out systematically in the Turan district of Shymkent. Employees of ShymkentSpetsKompleks LLP are responsible for these works. In order to maintain the cleanliness of the city and create a comfortable environment for residents, the specialists of this institution perform a number of tasks every day from morning to evening. The work of municipal workers is carried out in several main directions. First of all, mechanical road washing is being carried out on city streets and central roads. Special equipment is used to spray water on the streets and clean the road surface from dust. In addition, in order to refresh the city air during the hot summer, high-pressure water sprayers are used to spray water into the air. On the one hand, this helps to suppress the dust in the city, and on the other hand, it provides comfort to residents on hot summer days. In addition to road washing equipment, manual cleaning is also carried out continuously. Employees sweep pedestrian lanes, bus stops, sidewalks in public places and streets, and collect garbage. Garbage is collected with special equipment and transported to landfills. In addition, bus stops are washed and disinfected daily. This is an important part of ensuring the sanitary safety of residents traveling by public transport. The green belt is an important part of the city's ecosystem. Therefore, mowing and trimming the lawn, as well as watering and loosening the soil of trees and flower beds, are carried out systematically. Sanitary pruning is carried out on trees and excess branches are removed. This contributes to the proper growth of trees, as well as to increased safety and attractiveness. Previously, various measures were taken in the direction of sanitary cleaning and landscaping in the Turan district. However, in recent years, it is noticeable that these works have begun to be carried out with a new pace, systematically and comprehensively. Previously, these works were only seasonal, but today they have become part of the daily routine. This, in turn, has a positive impact on changing the appearance of the city and improving the quality of life of residents. For example, during the spring improvement month of 2022, only the main streets were cleaned in the district. In 2023, landscaping work was limited to the central part of the city. Starting in 2024, the district akimat will pay special attention to the regular maintenance of cleanliness and improvement of all streets and courtyards. Thanks to such systematic work, the cleanliness of the streets and courtyards of the Turan district has significantly improved. There are also positive comments from residents, and the formation of a culture of waste disposal is being observed. In addition, landscaping works are improving the microclimate of the district and contributing to an increase in air quality. Green flags are not only an aesthetic element, but also play an important role in maintaining the ecological balance of the environment. These daily municipal works carried out in the Turan district directly contribute to improving the city's ecosystem. Reducing dust, cooling the air, maintaining greenery - all of them are important for the ecology and the health of residents. The constant implementation of such good initiatives is one of the concrete steps in implementing the principle of "Clean city - comfortable life". Cleanliness is not only the task of municipal services, but also the common responsibility of every resident. The active participation of the public in this direction will contribute to the further improvement of the Turan district and the city of Shymkent as a whole.
"Clean Kazakhstan" campaign: Sabbath in the Kazygurt microdistrict and its impact on the ecosystem 11.07.2025
On July 11, 2025, a large-scale clean-up was organized in the Kazygurt microdistrict of the Turan district as part of the "Clean Kazakhstan" republican campaign. The campaign was held with the joint efforts of residents and employees of municipal institutions. Activists, volunteers and residents of the district actively participated in it, and sanitary cleaning measures were carried out, paying special attention to the rural nature. On Saturday, a total of about 100 people participated and 8 technical service vehicles were mobilized. The event, which covered a large area of the territory, collected not only household waste, but also heavy materials such as randomly dumped construction materials - sand, stone, clay - and removed them to the appropriate places. At the same time, special attention was paid to the improvement of flower beds and roadside areas. The station part of the campaign is to issue warnings and take legal measures against citizens who illegally dump garbage. Special employees filled out warning protocols for violators and explained to them the requirements of common culture. This information-psychological approach was aimed at forming a mentality of environmental protection among society. From an ecosystem perspective, the Sabbath has had a significant impact. First, the accumulation of construction waste and household waste prevents the contamination of soil and groundwater. This supports the habitat of essential components of the natural ecosystem (plants, insects). Second, the cleaning of environmental areas reduces dust and contributes to improving air quality. Third, green areas, flower beds and parks are provided with sanitary conditions, which strengthens the connection of residents with nature and has a positive effect on public health. In comparison, in 2023, a similar cleanup in the area involved about 60 people and 4 vehicles. While not only was waste collected, but residents were interviewed, construction materials were not given much attention. In 2024, the number of vehicles increased by 6, and 70 tons of waste were removed, but legal measures were taken less frequently. The 2025 campaign is a more systematic and systematic event with special attention to construction waste. These results indicate the growing environmental responsibility of society - the awareness of residents and the intensive work of the akimat. In the future, the district akimat intends to hold a monthly Sabbath and form a mentality of keeping public places, yards and the environment clean. In addition, environmental lessons for schoolchildren and students, regular monitoring and public formal work will be carried out. Thus, the Sembilik in the Kazygurt microdistrict is an important initiative aimed at raising the environmental culture and legal responsibility of residents, as well as protecting the city's ecosystem and strengthening green infrastructure. Compared to previous years' events, this Sembilik has expanded in terms of strength and organization, and has acquired a public significance. This is a tangible result that will serve to form a society with a high environmental culture and a healthy ecosystem in the future.
Ecology is a common good: about the landscaping and sanitation work carried out in the Abay district on July 14 14.07.2025
On July 14, 2025, large-scale landscaping and sanitation works were organized in the Abay district of Shymkent. These works were carried out with the aim of improving the ecological situation of the city, increasing the level of landscaping and creating comfortable living conditions for residents. The event was jointly organized by the Shymkent City Department of Natural Resources and Nature Use Regulation and the Department of Comfortable Environment Development. Abay district is one of the most densely populated districts of Shymkent. In addition to multi-storey residential buildings, there is a large concentration of private sectors, schools, kindergartens and retail outlets. Therefore, landscaping and cleanliness are constantly in focus in this district. The work carried out on July 14 was one of those systematic events. The following work was carried out in the district on this day: 450 ornamental and shade trees have been planted. The trees include species adapted to the local climate, such as elm, maple, spruce, and beech. 2,500 square meters of lawn were laid. These lawns were mainly placed in recreation areas and areas near schools. 1,800 flowering plants were planted. The flowers included roses, chrysanthemums, petunias, and tulips. 18 tons of garbage and construction waste were removed using special equipment. Streets and yards were cleaned of dust and dirt , dead bushes along the sidewalks were cut , and painting and decorating was carried out. More than 300 residents, district administration and administration employees, volunteers, and students participated in the event. In addition, 12 units of special equipment were mobilized - dump trucks, water trucks, garbage tractors, and lawn mowers. The residents of the district warmly welcomed the event and actively participated in the landscaping work. Some residents even planted additional flowers in front of their houses, contributing to the cleanliness. This is a clear demonstration of the partnership between society and the authorities. This time, the landscaping and cleaning work is closely related to similar events in previous years. For example, in the fall of 2023 , 300 trees were planted in the Abay district as part of the “Green Abay” program. At that time, mainly the territories of schools and hospitals were landscaped. In the spring of 2024, 1,000 square meters of lawn grass were laid in the old part of the district, and the empty areas between residential buildings were landscaped. The work carried out on July 14, 2025 was organized in a much broader and more comprehensive manner. Previously, only the planting of greenery was planned, but this time additional activities were included, such as sanitary cleaning, lighting, painting, and removal of construction waste. In addition, fertilizers and organic additives were used in accordance with environmental safety standards. As an innovation, this time informational QR-boards were installed next to the planted trees and flowers . Residents can receive information about the name, origin, and care methods of each plant via their mobile phones. This will increase interest in nature, especially among children and students, and contribute to the formation of environmental literacy. At the end of the event, representatives of the district administration and the board announced that landscaping and cleaning work will continue in the future. In the fall, deciduous tree planting, short preparatory work, and several more environmental campaigns are planned before the end of the year. In short, the landscaping and sanitation work carried out in the Abay district on July 14 is not just a seasonal campaign, it is part of a comprehensive plan aimed at improving the quality of life of residents. The continuity with the experience of previous years, its scale and innovation allow us to see the results of these works in the long term. Such steps play an important role in transforming Shymkent into a green and clean city.
3,000 square meters of lawn laid in Shymkent 11.07.2025
On July 11, 2025, large-scale landscaping work was carried out in the Turan district of Shymkent, organized by the Nature Department. This event is one of the next stages within the framework of the “Green Shymkent” city program. The main goal of the event is to improve the ecological situation of the city, clean the air, create a comfortable environment for residents, and reduce the negative impact of urbanization by increasing green areas. Turan district is a new and rapidly developing part of Shymkent. As this district has been filled with housing construction and infrastructure projects in recent years, the demand for greenery has also increased. With this in mind, most of the landscaping work on July 11 was concentrated in this area. During the event: 350 ornamental trees (spruce, maple, birch) 1200 perennial flowers (lilac, lavender, rose, chrysanthemum) 3,000 square meters of lawn were laid. All landscaping elements were selected from heat-resistant and easy-to-care-for plants adapted to the city's climatic features. Trees and flowers were planted around schools, hospitals, apartment buildings, parks and playgrounds. In addition, vacant lots and the edge of the pedestrian path along the central Turan Avenue were landscaped. About 200 volunteers, specialists from the Department of Nature, city residents and students participated in this event and worked together. Special equipment was used for the work - water trucks, soil-cultivating tractors and lawn mowers. A drip irrigation system was installed in the landscaped areas, creating conditions for the long-term preservation of greenery. Another important element of the landscaping was soil improvement work . Specialists used special fertilizers and fertile soil mixtures to accelerate the growth and development of the planted plants. At the end of the event, the head of the Nature Department made a speech and said that landscaping work will continue throughout the year. It was said that there is a plan to plant deciduous and fruit trees, especially in the fall. Residents were also advised to independently plant greenery in their yards, and it was announced that a campaign to distribute free seedlings is being considered for them. This event is interconnected with previous planting works and is their logical continuation. For example, in the spring of 2023 , 200 fruit trees were planted in the same Turan district. Even then, residents and young people were active. In addition, in May 2024 , 5,000 trees were planted in the outskirts of the city as part of the "Green Belt" project. These works were mainly aimed at developing ecological buffer zones outside the city. The advantage of the landscaping work in July 2025 is that it will be focused on the inner space of the Turan district, where the population is concentrated and active construction is underway. This landscaping is designed not only to preserve nature, but also to create an environment that directly affects the daily lives of residents. The newly planted greenery will make it possible to make areas for children to play, the elderly to walk, and the youth to relax shady, cool, and environmentally friendly. In addition, this year's special feature is the installation of QR-boards . That is, special information signs are placed next to the planted trees, through which anyone can get information about the type of tree, the date of planting, and the rules for care. This approach also contributes to increasing the environmental awareness of children and young people. In short, the landscaping work carried out in the Turan district on July 11 is a valuable investment in the city's nature. This work is not just a one-time event, but a long-term program that continues throughout the year and is based on a systematic plan. Compared to previous experiences, this year's event has reached a new level both in terms of scale and methods used. Now, if residents and authorities work together to properly care for and preserve these plants, the future of Shymkent will be truly green and comfortable.
City cleanliness is the key to a clean future: a review of the work and past experiences on July 16 16.07.2025
On July 16, 2025, another city sanitation work was carried out in Shymkent at the initiative of the Zhayly Environmental Department. This time, the main focus was on watering and mechanical cleaning of the central and peripheral streets of the city. Such activities are carried out in order to improve the quality of life of city residents, ensure health and comfort, as well as maintain environmental sustainability. Cleaning work began at 6:00 in the morning and continued until the evening. During this period, special water trucks sprayed water on the city streets to remove dust and dirt. In addition, debris, soil, small stones and accumulated sand on the roadsides were mechanically cleaned. More than 100 employees of city sanitation agencies and about 20 special equipment were involved in these works. The event covered major streets of Al-Farabi, Abay, Enbekshi and Karatau districts. Particular attention was paid to areas with heavy traffic and pedestrian traffic - central avenues and near markets, near bus stops. Considering that dust accumulated in these areas negatively affects the breathing of city residents, the goal was to reduce airborne particles by spraying water. Such mechanical cleaning operations directly affect the ecological condition of the city. The concentration of fine dust particles in the air not only harms the respiratory system, but also causes an increase in allergic diseases and lung diseases. Therefore, dust suppression is not just an external cleaning, it is an important measure aimed at protecting health. Shymkent is one of the largest megacities in the country. Along with the growth of the population, the flow of traffic is also increasing. This, in turn, leads to an increase in air pollution and dust. Currently, the city pays special attention to environmental issues. In recent years, the Department of Environmental Protection and the Department of Ecology have been jointly monitoring the cleanliness and environmental situation. The event held on July 16 is just one of the stages of this systematic work. It should be noted that such cleaning operations have been organized in Shymkent before. In July 2023, similar events were held. At that time, the dust level was reduced by spraying water on the city streets, and hundreds of tons of waste were removed using special road cleaning equipment. And during the weekend organized in the spring of 2024, along with the streets, sidewalks and bus stops were completely washed, renewing the beauty of the city. This year's special feature is the integrated implementation of these works. That is, spraying, mechanical cleaning and subsequent garbage collection were carried out simultaneously. In addition, special control groups were formed in the cleaned areas and began to monitor the cleanliness for several days. This is a concrete step towards improving the quality of work compared to previous years. City residents have been positively assessing the event and expressing their gratitude on social media. The cleaning of public places, especially those frequented by the elderly and children, has a direct impact on the daily lives of city residents. The city administration has announced that these works will be carried out regularly, not seasonally. Representatives of the Department of Environmental Protection also announced plans to expand the scope of work in this direction in the future. For example, if the weather permits, the main streets will be sprayed with water every week, and comprehensive cleaning will be carried out at least once a month. In addition, it is planned to purchase special small equipment for pedestrian walkways, which will allow improving the quality of cleaning in densely populated areas. In conclusion, the water spraying and mechanical cleaning carried out on July 16 are one of the important stages in improving the sanitary cleanliness of Shymkent and the quality of life of its residents. This is not just a one-day campaign, but part of a long-term strategy aimed at creating a sustainable environmental culture. Compared to previous experiences, this year's work is distinguished by its scale and level of organization. The goal now is to continue this process and encourage every resident to contribute to maintaining cleanliness. Let's not forget that cleanliness is the common responsibility of every citizen, not just the akimat.
Greening and cleaning work in Abai district: New impetus and continuity of previous initiatives 18.07.2025
On July 18, 2025, large-scale landscaping, irrigation and sanitation works were organized in the Abay district of Shymkent. This event is a continuation of the city administration's ongoing initiatives to protect nature and improve the ecological situation. Carrying out such works in the Abay district, one of the largest districts of the city, is important not only for improving the appearance, but also for improving the quality of life of residents and maintaining ecological balance. According to the district akimat, the cleaning and landscaping work began at 8:00 in the morning and continued until the evening. In addition to utility workers, volunteers, residents and students from local schools were involved in the event. The main streets, public places, courtyards, recreation areas and vacant land in the district were cleaned and covered with greenery. In particular, more than 200 trees and shrubs were planted, and water was poured into existing greenery. 5 water-carrying vehicles and 3 tractors were used for irrigation. This work was not limited to planting trees, but also included the collection of household waste, sorting and separating garbage, mowing grass, and cleaning gutter systems according to a special schedule. In order to maintain sanitary cleanliness, more than 30 tons of garbage were transported to special landfills. In addition, advertising waste and illegal stickers along the roads were removed and put in order with special signs. Local authorities noted that the main goal of this event is to form an ecological culture and increase environmental responsibility among residents. This is because currently, the reduction of green areas in cities, worsening air quality, and increasing household waste are becoming a worrying problem. Through such large-scale events, the city's population is encouraged to be involved in nature conservation and to show compassion for their native land. Such planting and cleaning work is not the first time that Abay district has organized such a project. For example, in the spring of 2023, more than 3 thousand seedlings were planted in this very district as part of the “Green Belt” project. Even then, public organizations and educational institutions were active, and a Saturday was organized with the participation of residents. And in the fall of 2024, old trees in the district were cut down for sanitary purposes, and new, dust-absorbing willows and poplars were planted in their place. Similarly, in 2022, at the initiative of the city administration, mass cleaning work was carried out as part of a special project called "Clean Abay". That time, 17 streets and 11 public areas of the district were completely cleaned, and the drainage systems were repaired. As a result of these works, it was noted that support from the residents of the district increased and a culture of constant cleanliness began to form. The cleaning and planting event, which took place on July 18, 2025, is a legitimate continuation of those previous initiatives. This year's special feature is the voluntary participation of residents and the activity of young people. Volunteers from the Youth Resource Center explained to residents the importance of planting seedlings and taught them how to sort garbage. This work was carried out in an accessible manner using specially prepared leaflets and visual materials. Also, this year, for the first time, an environmental monitoring group was created and tasked with systematically maintaining the planted greenery. This group will conduct monthly monitoring, monitoring the watering, care, and growth dynamics of the trees. This approach has not been practiced in previous years, so this innovation is attracting the attention of residents. At the end of the event, which was attended by representatives of the city maslikhat and the deputy akim of the district, letters of gratitude were presented to active citizens of the district. In addition, a small environmental competition was announced under the slogan "Clean district - healthy society", encouraging residents to improve their yards. In conclusion, the landscaping and cleaning work that took place in the Abay district on July 18 was an important initiative that deepened the ecological culture and mobilized the city's residents to work together. This work should not be limited to a one-day event, but should continue in the future. As the experience of previous years has shown, only systematic and community-wide measures will bring real results. If residents become more active and their attitude towards environmental protection changes, this will benefit not only the city, but also future generations.
Shymkent's Shabbat: 15 tons of garbage removed 21.07.2025
On July 21, 2025, a large-scale cleanup was held in Shymkent. This event was an important social initiative aimed not only at improving the cleanliness of the city, but also at raising the environmental awareness of residents. During the event, more than 15 tons of household and street waste were collected and delivered to special landfills. This is not just statistical data, but also an indicator of the responsibility of city residents for a common cause. More than 250 city residents and volunteers took part in the Saturday clean-up. Among them were school teachers, students, retirees, and employees of various institutions. A planned cleaning campaign was organized in each district of the city, and 11 special vehicles were deployed. The cleaned areas included courtyards, parks, roadsides, and vacant lots. Such comprehensive work significantly contributed to improving the overall appearance of the city. The main goal of the Sabbath is to increase the responsibility of residents towards the environment. The issue of ecology is closely related not only to the state level, but also to the lifestyle of an individual. In this regard, this Sabbath, held in Shymkent, is an exemplary event that has managed to mobilize the public for the common good. This Saturday, held as part of the "Clean Kazakhstan" environmental campaign, was part of a systematic effort to improve the city's sanitary conditions. According to representatives of the city administration, such events will continue regularly in the future. They called on residents to be active and expressed gratitude to those who contributed to cleanliness. Continuity with previous experience Shymkent has previously held such large-scale cleanups. For example, in September 2023, about 300 volunteers participated in the cleanup as part of the "Green Country" program, and more than 18 tons of garbage were removed. Even then, city residents showed their activeness and contributed to improving the ecological situation of the city. The Saturday as part of the gardening season in the spring of 2024 was also memorable. Not only was garbage collected, but tree planting was also carried out. More than 5 thousand seedlings were planted. Such comprehensive measures will contribute to the systematic improvement of the city's ecology. This year's Sabbat is characterized by a wide coverage of territories and more active participation of residents than ever before. In addition, it was widely promoted on social networks, and young people's interest in environmental culture increased. Another significance of such Sabbaths is the strengthening of unity between people. Neighbors living in the same yard working together, employees of each institution working together on a common task - this is not only a waste collection, but also a factor that increases people's communication. During the Sabbath, citizens of different ages working shoulder to shoulder is a positive manifestation that demonstrates the potential of society. The city administration noted that such collective events have a great educational value. Setting an example through concrete actions is an effective way to explain the importance of environmental protection, especially to the younger generation. Future plans The Shymkent city administration and environmental organizations will continue to organize Saturdays in the future. In addition, various trainings and flash mobs will be held to introduce a culture of waste sorting and increase environmental literacy among residents. These initiatives will allow achieving long-term results. The Sembilik, which took place on July 21, 2025, is one of the important steps towards the development of ecological culture in the city of Shymkent. It is worth noting that compared to similar events held in previous years, the activity of the participants of this year's Sembilik, the scale of the territory covered, and the level of organization were higher. This Sembilik was not only a manifestation of cleanliness, but also a manifestation of social responsibility and unity. It is important that other cities, using this example, also take measures aimed at improving public spaces, because ecology is one of the main factors determining the quality of life of each person.
