Contribution of Women with Disabilities in Central Asia to the Implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals and the UN Conventions Discussed at the Kazakh Foreign Ministry 11.09.2025
Astana, September 10, 2025 – An international conference entitled “Making the SDGs Count for Central Asia Women with Disabilities” was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This event marks the final stage of the project of the Central Asian Network of Women with Disabilities, supported by the “Kynnys” Association (Finland).The event was organized by the “Shyrak” Association of Women with Disabilities, the Central Asian Network of Women with Disabilities, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, the National Commission on Women’s Affairs and Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the “Kynnys” Association, and the OSCE Programme Office in Astana.During the conference, along with thematic analyses and recommendations for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals in the context of ensuring the rights of women and girls with disabilities the experience of organizations of women with disabilities in Central Asia was presented.“Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals is a universal agenda aimed at the future. However, their implementation is impossible without considering the interests of vulnerable groups. Women and girls with disabilities are millions of citizens worldwide who must have equal access to education, healthcare, employment, and public life. Therefore, it is our common duty to ensure that no one is left behind or excluded from opportunities,” noted Olga Perepechina, Deputy Chairperson of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.“Advancing the principles of inclusion and the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals remain key priorities for Kazakhstan. We are convinced that by joining the efforts of states, international organizations, and civil society, it is possible to build an inclusive society in which women and girls with disabilities have equal opportunities for self-realization and active participation in all spheres of life. Kazakhstan stands ready to continue contributing to this common cause, remaining open to cooperation and the exchange of best practices,” resumed Alua Nadirkulova, Ambassador-at-Large of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan.The conference makes a significant contribution to fulfilling the international commitments of Central Asian countries related to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals, the provisions of the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, and the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women. Supporting this event also demonstrates the OSCE’s contribution to promoting human rights, gender equality, and inclusion, as enshrined in the resolutions of the OSCE Ministerial Council and in the Organization’s strategic documents, such as the Helsinki Final Act and the 2004 OSCE Action Plan for the Promotion of Gender Equality.For 20 years (2005-2025), the Central Asian Network of Women with Disabilities, together with its partners, has been working to advance equality, rights, and opportunities for women with disabilities.The Network’s achievements include projects on advocacy of the rights of women with disabilities at national and international levels, the realization of reproductive rights by women with disabilities, running Independent Living Schools for girls with disabilities, removing negative stereotypes against women with disabilities, protection from violence, and the development of leadership educational programs. Astana, December 30, 2025 – A telephone conversation took place between Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yermek Kosherbayev and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Saidov.During the conversation, the foreign ministers summed up the results of the outgoing year, noting the steady strengthening of Kazakh-Uzbek strategic partnership and allied relations, and discussed prospects for the further development of bilateral cooperation. Вице-министр национальной экономики Ерлан Сагнаев, выступая на сессии по политическому диалогу, подчеркнул, что именно в Казахстане 12 лет назад было объявлено о запуске этой глобальной инициативы, которая сегодня стала ключевым фактором международного сотрудничества.«За это время Казахстан и Китай подняли двусторонние отношения на новый уровень, придав мощный импульс инвестиционному сотрудничеству на пространстве Нового шёлкового пути. Стороны обсудили перспективы торгово-экономического взаимодействия, включая новые инициативы в сопряжении с «Один пояс, один путь».По словам вице-министра, Казахстан демонстрирует стабильный экономический рост: по итогам первого полугодия ВВП увеличился на 6,2%, а инвестиции в основной капитал – на 19,3%. Эти результаты подтверждают, что Казахстан остаётся привлекательным для инвесторов и надёжным партнёром в регионе.Китай является одним из крупнейших внешнеторговых партнёров Казахстана. В 2024 году двусторонний товарооборот превысил 43 млрд долларов, а за первое полугодие 2025 года составил 21,8 млрд долларов. A seminar was held on the topic “Public Speaking, Mass Media, Social Networks, and Corruption Prevention” 11.09.2025
On September 10, 2025, the Ministry’s Ethics Commissioner, together with the Legal Department, held a seminar on the topic: “Public Speaking, Mass Media, Social Networks, and Anti-Corruption Prevention.”The event was aimed at strengthening the legal and ethical culture of civil servants and enhancing their responsibility when interacting with citizens, the media, and in the digital space.During the seminar, special attention was given to the following issues:Ethics of public speaking and digital culture. Participants were advised to maintain a respectful tone in online discussions, official speeches, and social media publications, as this is a key component of digital ethics.Combating gambling addiction. The inadmissibility of civil servants’ participation in gambling activities and visits to gambling establishments was emphasized.Prevention of discrimination. Attention was drawn to the strict prohibition of any forms of discrimination against women, as well as the need to treat all citizens with respect regardless of their gender, social status, or other characteristics.Freedom of conscience and religion. One-click Ambulance: Digital technologies increase transparency of Kostanay's emergency services 11.09.2025
Residents of Kostanay will now be able to track the movement of ambulances on their call on the map in real time. This solution was implemented by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan jointly with the Akimat of Kostanay region and in cooperation with Yandex Qazaqstan. It will be possible to observe the movement of the brigade on the map in the browser. The solution should significantly reduce the burden on dispatchers. This was stated by the Head of Yandex Qazaqstan Timur Shalekenov during a meeting with Akim of Kostanay region Kumar Aksakalov and Vice Minister of Digital Development Dmitry Moon at the QostanAI Investment Forum. It will be possible to monitor the movement of the ambulance team on the map in the browser, and in the future — in the Yandex Go application. As expected, this solution can significantly reduce the burden on dispatchers. After calling an ambulance, the system will automatically send an SMS with a link to a map where the movement of the brigade will be displayed in real time. The solution is implemented using the JavaScript API from Yandex Maps. The new solution is aimed at increasing the transparency of the work of emergency services, reducing the burden on dispatchers and improving the quality of interaction with the public. В Министерстве национальной экономики под председательством заместителя Премьер-Министра – министра Серика Жумангарина состоялось совещание, посвящённое реализации Послания Президента Касым-Жомарта Токаева народу Казахстана «Казахстан в эпоху искусственного интеллекта: актуальные задачи и их решения через цифровую трансформацию» от 8 сентября 2025 года.Совещание прошло в развитие поручений Премьер-Министра Олжаса Бектенова, данных на заседании Правительства.Серик Жумангарин подчеркнул важность поддержания устойчивого экономического роста. Для сдерживания темпов инфляции и цен на регулируемые услуги Комитету по регулированию естественных монополий поручено в недельный срок представить предложения по пересмотру тарифов. Также будет обновлен комплекс мер по контролю и снижению уровня инфляции.Ключевым направлением определён запуск нового инвестиционного цикла. Министерство национальной экономики совместно с Министерством иностранных дел подготовит план действий по модернизации системы привлечения инвестиций. Холдинг «Байтерек» займётся анализом и структурированием перспективных проектов с участием отечественного и иностранного капитала.Особое внимание уделено развитию города Алатау как нового центра деловой активности и инноваций. Для снижения административной нагрузки Министерство национальной экономики продолжит работу по устранению барьеров для бизнеса и актуализации Реестра обязательных требований. Kazakhstan and Pakistan are ready to increase mutual trade to 1 billion US dollars and expand supplies of 40 types of goods 10.09.2025
On September 8, 2025, a meeting was held in Islamabad between the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliyev and the Federal Minister of Commerce of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Jam Kamal Khan.During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and prospects for the development of trade and economic cooperation between Kazakhstan and Pakistan, as well as preparations for the upcoming official visit of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Islamabad in November this year.According to the results of 7 months of 2025, the volume of mutual trade between Kazakhstan and Pakistan amounted to $ 89.6 million, which is 2.5 times higher than the same period last year (US $ 36.3 million). Kazakhstan's exports increased by 7.2 times, to $ 55.5 million, imports - by 19.3%, to $ 34.1 million.The main export commodities from Kazakhstan to Pakistan include crude oil, dried legumes, cereals, and machinery and equipment. Imports from Pakistan to Kazakhstan are represented mainly by food products (potatoes (27.1% share), citrus fruits (18.8% share), clothing and knitwear (25% share), and medicines (11.3% share).Minister Arman Shakkaliyev emphasized that Kazakhstan and Pakistan have set an ambitious goal of increasing the volume of mutual trade to $1 billion, and expressed readiness to increase supplies in 40 commodity items, including in the petrochemical, metallurgical, mechanical engineering and pharmaceutical industries.Special attention was paid to the implementation of the Roadmap for Trade and Economic Cooperation for 2025–2027, signed in April of this year. The Kazakh side called on partners to actively participate in the practical implementation of the document's activities. By decision of the Specialized Interdistrict Administrative Court of Konaev, an administrative fine in the amount of 1,533,480 tenge was imposed on LLP "PLANK." In addition, the court suspended the laboratory’s accreditation certificate for a period of six months.The basis for administrative liability was the results of unscheduled inspections regarding vehicle testing conducted in violation of the requirements of the Customs Union Technical Regulation “On the Safety of Wheeled Vehicles” (TR CU 018/2011).Specifically, violations in testing procedures were identified. In particular, the laboratory failed to conduct actual testing of emergency call systems and was proven to have used an inapplicable brake stand for testing a specific vehicle.The laboratory is required to operate within the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and comply with the requirements of regulatory documents for which it has been accredited. Its activities must be strictly limited to the established scope of accreditation.Based on the identified violations, the Department of the Committee for Technical Regulation and Metrology of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan initiated administrative proceedings and issued orders to eliminate the violations.As of today, the laboratory has fully complied with the orders: the unlawfully issued vehicle safety certificates have been revoked, and technical training for staff on compliance with legislation has been conducted.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mti/press/news/details/1064486?lang=kk
"A clean country is a strong region": "Taza Kazakhstan" in the Kostanay region 09.09.2025
A large-scale environmental campaign was held in the Kostanay region to coincide with the international initiative "World Cleanup Day." On this day, thousands of residents of the region came out to clean their areas, demonstrating unity and active civic engagement in environmental protection. The main work took place from the turnoff from the Fyodorovskaya Highway to the Severny solid waste landfill.The campaign became truly massive. Similar events were held in all cities and districts of the region. Residents of Kostanay, Rudny, Lisakovsk, Arkalyk, and rural communities came out to clean streets, courtyards, coastal areas, and parks. This unified initiative covered virtually the entire region, highlighting the shared commitment of Kostanay residents to caring for the environment and their willingness to unite for a common goal—to make their region cleaner and more comfortable.6,980 people took part in the event, including 2,560 government employees, 520 volunteers, and 3,900 regional residents. Through their combined efforts, 755 tons of waste were collected. Some of the waste was recycled: 0.5 tons of glass, 0.8 tons of plastic, 0.6 tons of rubber, and 0.3 tons of paper. The total area cleared was 150 hectares.Kostanay Region has traditionally actively supported this initiative. Regional events demonstrate that caring for cleanliness and improvement is becoming a shared responsibility, involving government officials, volunteers, and ordinary residents. This approach not only improves the local environmental situation but also fosters a responsible attitude toward nature among the population.The event was part of the state program "Taza Kazakhstan," aimed at raising environmental awareness and improving the environment.
