Dialogue between Kazakhstan–China: Steps Toward Effective Customs Administration 29.05.2025
On May 21, 2025, a bilateral meeting of the heads of the customs authorities of Kazakhstan and China took place in Almaty under the chairmanship of Mr. Zh. Zh. Duisembiyev, Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event served as a continuation of regional dialogue aimed at developing coordinated solutions to enhance cross-border trade and effective customs administration. During the comprehensive meeting, the parties discussed pressing issues related to the digitalization of customs procedures, harmonization of requirements, information exchange, and the elimination of administrative barriers in order to improve the efficiency of logistics chains and increase throughput capacity. Special attention was given to ensuring stable and predictable clearance of goods through adjacent checkpoints along the Kazakhstan-China border. In the context of steadily growing trade volumes and transit shipments, a key topic was the synchronization of throughput capacity limits on both sides of the border. The Kazakh side emphasized that the Republic of Kazakhstan’s checkpoints are operating as normal and have the necessary capacity to handle the increasing flow of goods. In April of this year, during a joint inspection of the “Nur Zholy” (RK) – “Khorgos” (PRC) checkpoints, representatives of the customs services of Kazakhstan and China identified bottlenecks and challenges affecting throughput capacity on the Chinese side. In this regard, the Chairman of the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of Kazakhstan highlighted the importance of developing joint solutions for synchronizing work schedules, improving infrastructure, and further advancing digital platforms for automated data exchange. During the negotiations, the parties reached key agreements to simplify goods clearance procedures and increase throughput capacity between Kazakhstan and China. At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their interest in continuing dialogue in a multilateral format and agreed to step up efforts to implement joint initiatives aimed at simplifying cross-border procedures, accelerating the movement of goods, and strengthening regional cooperation. Fraudsters in messengers: how to protect your loved ones 28.05.2025
Modern messengers have become not only a means of communication but also a popular platform for online fraudsters. They use WhatsApp, Telegram and other applications to gain an access to accounts, extort money or personal information under false pretences. Most often, criminals disguise themselves as employees of banks, government agencies, relatives and acquaintances. Attackers send phishing links, offer “profitable” part-time jobs for watching videos, send malicious files and create fake chats to extort confidential data.Schoolchildren, students and the elderly are most at risk. That is why it is important to be vigilant and warn your loved ones about the risks. What is important to know?never send money as a “deposit” for part-time jobs, goods or services on the Internet;do not follow suspicious links, even if they came from a "friend" because his account could have been hacked;check the list of devices connected to the messenger, and regularly log out of unnecessary sessions, as well as from your accounts on third-party devices, for example, in an Internet cafe;use two-factor authentication and complex passwords;do not share codes from SMS and passwords with strangers, even if they introduce themselves as employees of a bank or government agency;explain to your relatives, especially the elderly, that representatives of government agencies will not call via messenger asking to transfer money or "confirm identity", and do not give any instructions and do not require them to be followed. If you or your loved ones have nevertheless become a victim of intruders, immediately contact the police. Timely response can stop the fraudsters and save your money. External Communications Directoratepress@finreg.kz Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/ardfm/press/news/details/1001936?lang=kk

Rescue Dogs of Zhetisu Emergency Department: Reliable Partners in Saving Lives 28.05.2025
In Taldykorgan, at the base of the Zhetisu Emergency Department’s operational rescue unit, certified trials for canine teams were recently held. These trials are a mandatory assessment to determine the readiness of service dogs and their handlers for real-life emergency situations. The certification process included three stages: obeying commands and overcoming obstacles, searching for victims in forested and bushy areas, and conducting search operations in collapsed or damaged structures. All teams successfully passed the tests and received official authorization to participate in search and rescue missions in both natural and man-made environments. In the civil protection system, service dogs are far more than assistants. Their heightened sense of smell, endurance, and ability to react quickly in high-stress environments make them indispensable in locating people lost in forests, buried under rubble, or trapped after technological disasters. Training a canine team requires months of intensive preparation and strong trust between the dog and its handler. For everyday citizens, this is a reminder of how every element in the emergency response system matters. When every minute counts, it is often these specially trained dogs who are the first to locate victims and help save lives. Behind each successful rescue is a well-coordinated team effort — and the four-legged rescuer plays a vital role in that mission.
