He began his scientific career in 1972 as a teacher at the Department of General History of the Kirov Kazakh State University. Since then, the scientist has been working within the walls of his native university, having passed all the stages of professional growth from assistant to professor, dean of the faculty, head of the department, academician. In 1997, Kalkaman Tursinovich successfully defended his doctoral dissertation on the topic "The main problems of the development of Ancient German society before the Great Migration of Peoples", which was the result of his many years of research on the history of the Early Middle Ages.
