n the Bastaushi Rural District, a solemn gathering titled "No One is Forgotten, Nothing is Forgotten" was held on May 9 at the Veterans’ Memorial to commemorate the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory. During the commemorative event, participants paid tribute to the souls of the fallen heroes who sacrificed their lives for the Motherland and honored the extraordinary bravery of frontline soldiers and home front workers. Attendees laid floral tributes at the foot of the monument and observed a minute of silence.The primary objective of the event was to instill a sense of patriotism in the younger generation, revive historical memory, and emphasize the profound value of a peaceful life. Темпы роста экономики ускоряются четвертый месяц.По предварительным данным БНС, рост ВВП Казахстана в январе-апреле 2026 года составил 3,6% к аналогичному периоду прошлого года. По сравнению с итогами первого квартала, динамика экономического роста заметно улучшилась (3% роста ВВП за январь-март 2026 г.)Промышленное производство по итогам четырех месяцев вышло в положительную зону – индекс физического объема составил 102,1%, тогда как по итогам первого квартала фиксировалось снижение до 99,9%.Ключевым фактором восстановления промышленности стало ускорение обрабатывающего сектора, где объем производства увеличился на 9,9% против 8,5% в январе-марте.Высокие темпы роста сохраняются в машиностроении (рост на 23,3%) за счет увеличения объемов выпуска транспортных средств, сельскохозяйственной и железнодорожной техники, электротоваров и оборудований.Также отмечается значительный рост в производстве продукции легкой промышленности – рост в 2,3 раза, мебели – на 41,7%, фармацевтической продукции – на 35,2%, строительных материалов – на 27,7%, химической промышленности – на 18,4%, продуктов питания - на 14,4%,В горнодобывающей промышленности спад сохраняется (92,7%), однако его глубина существенно сократилась по сравнению с первым кварталом (88,6%), что указывает на постепенное восстановление добычи и снижение отрицательного вклада нефтяного сектора в общую экономическую динамику.В целом положительная динамика экономики за первые четыре месяца года обеспечена устойчивым ростом в базовых секторах. Наиболее высокие темпы роста зафиксированы в отраслях:строительство – 114,5%;транспорт и складирование – 112%;обработка - 109,9%;торговля – 105,1%;сельское хозяйство – 103,6%.Таким образом, текущая структура реального роста ВВП характеризуется усилением роли несырьевых секторов, в частности строительства, транспорта, торговли и обрабатывающей промышленности. Ceremony for the Deposit of Ratification Instruments to the Chicago Convention Held at ICAO 11.05.2026
8 May 2026, Montreal, ICAO Headquarters. An official ceremony for the deposit by the Republic of Kazakhstan of the instruments of ratification to the Protocol relating to an amendment to Article 50 a) of the Convention on International Civil Aviation and to the Protocol relating to an amendment to Article 56 of the Convention was held at the Headquarters of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).The ceremony was attended by Mr. Timur Tlegenov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ICAO, Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar, Secretary General of ICAO, Mr. Michael Gill, Director of the ICAO Legal and External Bureau, as well as staff members of the Permanent Representation of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ICAO and the Secretariat of the Organization.During the ceremony, the ICAO Secretary General received the instruments of ratification and presented an official letter confirming their receipt by the Depositary.In his welcoming remarks, ICAO Secretary General Mr. Juan Carlos Salazar congratulated the Kazakh Side on the ratification of the above-mentioned Protocols and expressed appreciation to Kazakhstan for its active participation in advancing ICAO’s strategic objectives. It was noted that the Republic of Kazakhstan is an active and constructive member of the Organization.For his part, Mr. Timur Tlegenov, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Kazakhstan to ICAO, expressed gratitude to the ICAO leadership for its continued support and attention to the development of cooperation.With the deposit of the instruments of ratification, Kazakhstan became the 124th State to complete the relevant domestic procedures with respect to the aforementioned amendments. A Cultural Bridge between Europe and Central Asia: Musical and Literary Evening Held in Prague 11.05.2026
A musical and literary evening entitled “Poetry and Music of the West and the East – from Central Europe to Central Asia” took place at the historic Lobkowicz Palace in Prague. The event was organised by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in the Czech Republic in cooperation with Aiken Aitbay, Executive Director of the non-profit organisation Kulturbrücke Eurasia. Dedicated to fostering cultural dialogue between Europe and Central Asia, the evening was held with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Czech Republic and the local Kazakh community.The programme brought together music, literature and visual art through works by Kazakhstani-German artist Alexander Dik. The musical programme showcased works by prominent figures of the Kazakh musical tradition, including Kurmangazy, Dauletkerey and Dina Nurpeisova, as well as compositions by Akhmet Zhubanov, Yevgeny Brusilovsky and Kuat Shildebayev. The pieces were performed by violinist Aiken Aitbay, accompanied by French pianist François Lambert, as well as by a dombra ensemble composed of Kazakhstani students currently studying in the Czech Republic.The evening also included works of European classical music, including compositions by Ludwig van Beethoven, Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Claude Debussy. Poetry recitations from the works of Abai Kunanbayev, Magzhan Zhumabayev, Rakhmet Utesinov and Kyrgyz poet Alykul Osmonov were warmly received by the audience. The programme also included works by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, bringing together Kazakh, Kyrgyz and European literary traditions within a single event.The evening was attended by representatives of the diplomatic corps, government institutions, business circles and civil society from the Czech Republic, Germany, Kazakhstan and other countries. Guests expressed particular appreciation to H.E. Kazakhstan’s approach in ensuring water and energy security in the digital era presented in Geneva 11.05.2026
Geneva, 7-8 May 2026. The delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan took part in the Swiss OSCE Chairpersonship Conference dedicated to Anticipating technologies – for a safe and humane future that held in Geneva.The event was opened by the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office, Swiss Federal Councillor Ignazio Cassis and OSCE Secretary General Feridun Sinirlioğlu. The conference brought together approximately 200 representatives from OSCE participating States, Partners for Co-operation, international organizations, academia, the private sector and civil society.Speaking at the panel session “Anticipating Water and Energy Security in the Digital Age”, the representative of Kazakhstan pointed out that water and energy security issues are of strategic importance to the country, directly impacting sustainable development, food security, and regional stability.It was emphasized that given the limited water resources, high dependence on transboundary rivers, the impacts of climate change and growing demand, Kazakhstan is shifting from a reactive water management model to a predictive one based on data, digital platforms and artificial intelligence.As part of the digitalization of the water sector, Kazakhstan intends to implement a National Digital Water Resources System by the end of 2026. It is expected to improve the accuracy of monitoring, forecasting and water resource allocation as well as ensure greater transparency in water use.Particular attention was paid to the role of artificial intelligence in improving water use efficiency. In this regard, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's position that artificial intelligence is becoming the foundation of the new global economy and that big data is a critical resource was noted. Kazakhstan considers the development of artificial intelligence as a key strategic priority and aims to widely implement it in the economy, including industry, energy, agriculture and logistics.Furthermore, Kazakhstan’s approaches presented to the development of nuclear energy. It was noted that the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Atomic Energy has been established to ensure the systematic and sustainable development of the industry and a national nuclear cluster is being formed, uniting industry, science and education. As part of the strategy approved by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kazakhstan is planning to build at least three nuclear power plants by 2060.In conclusion, the Kazakh delegation emphasized that water and energy security should be considered comprehensively and it requires the implementation of modern technologies, the strengthening of institutions and the expansion of international cooperation. The initiative of schoolchildren has received support: a new playground will be improved in Kostanay 11.05.2026
An important project aimed at supporting youth civic engagement and public initiatives will be implemented in the city of Kostanay. A project for the improvement of one of the children's playgrounds, proposed by schoolchildren, became the winner within the framework of the "Participatory Budgeting" program.The initiative includes the improvement of a children's playground.The proposed project successfully passed the expert selection at the akimat (local administration) and was admitted to the voting stage among residents. As a result, the initiative received 322 votes and took first place among the participants.According to the press service of the Nazarbayev Intellectual School, the initiative, which received public support, is aimed at creating a safe and comfortable environment for children and residents of the courtyard. This is a vivid example of how the younger generation actively participates in public life and makes a real contribution to the development of their hometown.The practical implementation phase of the project will begin soon. It is expected that this initiative will contribute to the improvement of urban infrastructure, increasing the accessibility and comfort of public spaces. Kazakh Soldiers Honored in Serbia 10.05.2026
On the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the Great Victory, a solemn wreath-laying ceremony was held in the Serbian capital at the “Liberators of Belgrade” Memorial.The Embassy of Kazakhstan in Serbia honored the memory of fallen Kazakhstani soldiers with a minute of silence.The ceremony took place at the memorial complex dedicated to the soldiers of the Soviet Army and the fighters of the Yugoslav People’s Liberation Army who fell during the liberation of Belgrade. In tribute to the fallen heroes, the National Anthem of the Republic of Kazakhstan was played, and the honor guard paid respect to their memory.On this commemorative day, Kazakh diplomats also took part in official wreath-laying ceremonies at monuments to Soviet liberator soldiers in the cities of Subotica and Zrenjanin. Kazakhstan’s participation in the liberation of Yugoslavia carries special historical significance: the 73rd Guards Rifle Division, formed on the territory of Kazakhstan, fought heroically in the battles for Belgrade. To date, the names of around 200 Kazakhstan soldiers who were killed or went missing in battles on the territory of the former Yugoslavia have been identified.
