Today, international criminal groups are actively using digital technologies, social networks and internet platforms to recruit people under the guise of job opportunities. Under the pretext of highly paid vacancies, people are misled, deprived of their freedom and forced to participate in illegal activities.This form of exploitation is becoming one of the fastest-spreading threats of transnational organized crime. People of different ages, professions and levels of education become victims of human trafficking.Modern human trafficking is not only about sexual exploitation or forced labor. Increasingly, people are forced to participate in fraud, cybercrime, illegal migration, drug trafficking, theft and other crimes.That is why prevention remains one of the most effective tools in combating this type of crime.In support of international efforts to combat human trafficking, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan is conducting the republican information campaign “Human Trafficking Is a Serious Crime!” from July 24 to 30, 2026.The main goal of the campaign is to draw public attention to this dangerous form of organized crime, increase the level of legal awareness among the population, provide information about modern methods of recruiting people and measures of state protection for victims.State and local executive bodies, police units, international and non-governmental organizations will participate in the campaign.
