The delegation of the Green Climate Fund visited Karaganda region 29.05.2025
The delegation of the GCF (Green Climate Fund), headed by Executive Director Mafalda Duarte, visited the Karaganda region. The International Financial Institute, in partnership with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, has invested in a program for the development of renewable energy sources in Kazakhstan. One of the largest projects is the Sarani solar power plant with a capacity of 100 MW, which has been successfully operating since 2019.The head of GCF, together with the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerlan Nysanbayev, Akim of the Karaganda region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev and representatives of the EBRD visited the facility and assessed the work of the solar station. The area of the solar park is 160 hectares, where more than 300,000 photovoltaic modules are installed. The main substation and energy storage facility are also located here. This entire complex is serviced by a team of 11 people, mostly local residents.According to the company's management, the average annual electricity generation is 120 million kilowatt-hours.According to the contract with the financial settlement center for renewable energy support, the capacity is fully realized and distributed in the KEGOC network.Evgeny Grebennikov, General Director of SES Saran LLP, reported on the history of the project, its present and prospects. He noted the role of the state and local executive bodies.– The Law on the Green Economy has become the basic document regarding the investment decision. At the start of the project, we worked closely with local executive authorities. In real time, according to the principle of an open window, we received support for all our initiatives related to the allocation of this land plot, the development of a feasibility study, and the receipt of all necessary materials," the head of the enterprise emphasized. He added that the contract with the financial settlement center is strict and is not subject to change, which gives the investor guarantees. The Saran Solar Power Plant is a successful example of introducing clean technologies and attracting international investment in sustainable energy. It has an environmental impact, helping to reduce carbon dioxide emissions – CO2.– This is my first visit to Kazakhstan. We are here because we have invested large sums together with the EBRD in pilot projects such as this station. I came to visit the facilities and see their development. I would like to discuss with the Government of Kazakhstan what priorities to set in future projects. This is the main purpose of my visit," said Ms. Mafalda Duarte. – This station is of great importance: in particular, this project accounts for 40% of the entire program. It is encouraging to see that the station is working, and we have achieved our goal. The delegation also visited the Karaganda Technical University named after A. Saginov. An exhibition of scientific projects in various fields, including those related to green energy, was presented here.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/karaganda/press/news/details/1002344?lang=kk

Modern wind turbines will provide the Karaganda region with green energy 28.05.2025
The second stage of construction of the first 150 MW wind farm in the Karaganda region is underway in Osakarov district. The project is scheduled to be completed this year. 20 new jobs will be created at the facility.Seven of the 21 wind turbines have already been installed in the area between the settlements of Osakarovka, Saryozek and Telman. The height of each mast with blades is more than 200 meters. Certified turbines with a capacity of 7.7 MW are among the newest and most powerful in the CIS today. One such wind turbine can provide energy to an entire village. The Osakarov district was chosen for construction for a reason: according to multi-month measurements, the average annual wind speed here is 8.5 m/s.— A year of measurements has confirmed that there are good conditions here — strong and stable winds, open hilly terrain. Specialists from China, Germany, and France came to us, and they all noted the potential of the location and the height of the installed generators," says Dmitry Silantyev, technical director of the "Hyperborea" contractor. —The energy generated here will be supplied to the general network of Kazakhstan – KEGOC, and then distributed across the regions.Currently, about 150 specialists are employed in the construction of the facility, and after commissioning, only 20 people will provide maintenance of the automated station.Management and monitoring are completely centralized: all processes are controlled from the substation through special software. This project in Osakarovka is not the only one. A memorandum on the construction of 65 500 MW wind turbines has already been signed in the region. In addition, two more large projects are under development — 500 MW in Temirtau and 200 MW in Karkaraly district.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/karaganda/press/news/details/1001552?lang=kk

An operational task force for locust pest control conducted a field visit in the Zharkainsky District. 28.05.2025
Planned activities are being carried out in the Akmola region to protect agricultural lands from locust insects. This year, chemical treatments will cover an area of 226.5 thousand hectares, including 89.0 thousand hectares funded by the republican budget and 137.5 thousand hectares funded by the regional budget.Recently, an operational field task force on locust pest control convened in the Zharkainsky District. The event was attended by Murat Balpan, Deputy Akim of Akmola Region; Zhasulan Kozhabekov, Head of the Akmola Regional Territorial Inspection of the Committee of State Inspection in the Agro-Industrial Complex of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan; Nurbek Sadykov, Head of the Akmola Branch of the Republican Methodological Center for Phytosanitary Diagnostics and Forecasts; as well as local agricultural producers.During the event, specialized sprayers for treating agricultural lands, vehicles for monitoring locust pest outbreaks, and unmanned aerial systems (drones) for surveying large areas were demonstrated. All equipment was shown in operation — drones were flying in real time, and specialists presented monitoring and treatment protocols."The majority of chemical treatments are concentrated in the Zharkainsky District, which poses a serious threat to agricultural crops. Specialists have previously identified locust pest hotspots. Today, these areas were shown to the members of the operational task force. Currently, the pests are in the larval stage, so chemical treatments will be carried out in these territories in the near future," noted Nurbek Sadykov, Head of the Regional Branch of Phytosanitary Diagnostics and Forecasting. This year, unmanned aerial systems of the Republican State Enterprise on the Right of Economic Management "Phytosanitary" are being used for the first time in the Zharkainsky District to treat agricultural lands covering 5,000 hectares. The capacity of one drone is up to 50 hectares per day.To date, 3,800 hectares in the district have been treated with funding from the republican budget. Due to the complex terrain, treatments were conducted using hang gliders: 2,310 hectares in the Prigorodnoye village area and 1,490 hectares in the Valikhanov rural district.Murat Balpan, Deputy Akim of Akmola Region, emphasized the importance of promptness and responsibility in implementing anti-locust measures.“We have a clear task not to allow the spread of the pest. This requires coordinated work of all services, the use of modern technologies, and constant monitoring of the situation. We must protect the harvest and ensure the region’s food security,” Deputy Akim Murat Balpan stated.Following the meeting, he instructed to ensure coordinated, timely, and high-quality work of all involved services during the chemical treatment period.
