Foreign Ministers of Kazakhstan and Brazil Met in Rio de Janeiro 06.07.2025
Rio de Janeiro, 5 July 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu, who arrived in Rio de Janeiro to participate in the BRICS Summit, held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Brazil Mauro Vieira.The parties reviewed key aspects of bilateral cooperation across political, economic, investment, energy, and cultural-humanitarian areas and identified potential areas of engagement within international organizations.Minister Nurtleu emphasized that Kazakhstan views Brazil as a key partner and reliable friend in Latin America. “This year marks 32 years since the establishment of diplomatic relations between our countries. These ties are characterized by a steady political dialogue, deepening economic exchanges, and active collaboration on the international stage,” he stated.Interlocutors stressed the importance of maintaining consistent dialogue and stepping up high-level exchanges as an effective tool for advancing mutual ties. In this regard, the Kazakh Foreign Minister invited his Brazilian counterpart to visit Astana.Special emphasis was placed on boosting economic interaction. Despite geographical distance, Brazil is Kazakhstan’s top trade partner in South America. In 2024, bilateral trade exceeded 257 million US dollars, and in the first quarter of 2025 alone, the turnover rose by 88%, reaching 104.2 million US dollars.The sides confirmed their shared interest in expanding joint efforts in priority sectors. “We are ready to strengthen our engagement in such areas as agriculture, manufacturing, transport, and logistics. They discussed improving the methodology for assessing the investment climate, reflecting regional specificities, and the impact of non-tariff barriers on business activity. The Business Ready program, launched in 2024 as a replacement for Doing Business, includes Kazakhstan in its review starting in 2025. Since the beginning of 2024, a grant financing program for social entrepreneurship entities has been successfully implemented in Kostanay region. As part of this initiative, entrepreneurs can receive up to 5 million tenge for the development of projects aimed at solving social problems. Financing is provided exclusively on a competitive basis, which ensures transparency and efficiency of selection. Special conditions for participation in the program are provided for entrepreneurs who are finalists of the "One Village, One Product" program. The participants of this initiative are engaged in the production of unique products exclusively from local raw materials, which contributes to the development of regional brands and rural entrepreneurship. One of the winners of the 2024 grant competition was the Unique School of Speed Reading and Intelligence Development LLP. This business project deservedly attracted the attention of the jury, because it is aimed at supporting one of the most vulnerable groups — children with autism spectrum disorders aged 1-4 years. The project was based on the introduction of the Denver Model of Early Intervention, a scientifically based approach that has proven effective in working with children with special needs. The goal of the program is to alleviate the symptoms of autism and accelerate the child's development in all key areas of life: social, emotional, speech and behavioral. Work with children is conducted in a playful way, which contributes to better adaptation, the formation of basic skills of self-service and interaction with the outside world. In addition, the center is actively working with parents.: They receive expert advice from specialists, training in effective strategies for interacting with their child, as well as constant feedback and support at all stages. Thanks to the grant, the entrepreneur was able to equip the center with modern equipment, purchase specialized toys and textbooks for working with children with special needs. Today, 45 children are taking classes at the Unikum Center, of which 15 are on the Denver model. A team of 12 specialists is working on the implementation of the program: speech pathologists, physical therapy coach, primary school teachers and others. In the near future, in accordance with the terms of the grant, it is planned to create additional jobs, which makes the project not only socially significant, but also economically useful for the region. Astana, July 1, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova Mihai Popșoi, who arrived in Astana on his first official visit.During the meeting, the parties discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to Kazakhstan-Moldova relations. In particular, they reviewed priority areas of political dialogue, trade and economic cooperation, as well as cultural and humanitarian interaction. The sides also exchanged views on the calendar of joint events planned for the current year.Both parties reaffirmed their mutual commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties based on the principles of friendship and mutually beneficial cooperation. The decision by Chișinău to open the Embassy of Moldova in Kazakhstan was welcomed as a tangible confirmation of the shared intent to advance bilateral relations. Astana, July 1, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held a meeting with Almaz Alsenov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Harvest Group.The parties discussed the implementation of an investment project in the agricultural sector aimed at the gradual transfer of 300 thousand hectares of pasture and fallow lands into irrigated agricultural lands using groundwater and modern water-saving technologies. The project covers the Zhambyl, Almaty, Zhetysu, Aktobe, Pavlodar, Kyzylorda, and East Kazakhstan regions, with a total investment of 500 million US dollars in the first phase.Minister Nurtleu emphasized the importance of further promoting the project and expressed his readiness to provide government support. В эти дни во всех вузах проходят торжественные церемонии вручения дипломов — для тысяч выпускников это важная веха на пути к самостоятельной профессиональной жизни. Не стал исключением и Костанайский региональный университет имени Ахмета Байтұрсынұлы, где сегодня прошла церемония вручения дипломов выпускникам.Это событие стало завершающим аккордом недельных торжеств, посвящённых окончанию учебного года. В 2024–2025 учебном году 2392 студента получили дипломы о высшем образовании. С момента основания вуз подготовил более 190 тысяч специалистов, внесших весомый вклад в развитие различных сфер экономики, образования, права и государственного управления. Выпускников, завершивших обучение, поздравил заместитель акима Костанайской области Бакытжан Нарымбетов.
