Berlin, April 9, 2025 – The 21st meeting of the bilateral Intergovernmental Commission (IGC) on Ethnic Germans in the Republic of Kazakhstan discussed the issues of supporting ethnic Germans, strengthening cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and Germany.Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko and Germany’s Federal Government Commissioner for Matters Related to Ethnic German Resettlers and National Minorities, Member of the Bundestag Natalie Pawlik co-chaired the annual session in the German capital.The agenda of the IGC covered issues of cooperation in education, culture, science, youth policies, the studying of German language, archival work, facilitating business contacts and liberalization of the visa regime, focusing on implementation of the joint projects to support the national identity of Germans in Kazakhstan.The participants welcomed the opening of the Centre for German Language and Culture at the Eurasian National University and the branch of the Anhalt University of Applied Sciences at the Almaty University of Power Engineering and Telecommunications in 2024, noting also the important contribution of the Kazakh-German Center in Astana, the Kazakh-German University in Almaty, the Kazakh-German Institute of Sustainable Engineering in Aktau, the National Academic German Drama Theatre and other institutions in strengthening the bilateral interaction.“Just as the Kazakh land has traditionally connected the West and the East, so the ethnic Germans in Kazakhstan and former citizens of our country in Germany have today created a “living bridge” between Kazakhstan and Germany and are key to perspective development of Kazakh-German relations,” said Vassilenko.He noted that ensuring favourable conditions for coexistence of various people in a common socio-cultural space remains one of the key objectives of the Government of Kazakhstan. On September 4, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov visited the Kegen–Kyrkara road crossing point. Thevisitwasrelated to the implementation of the agreements reached by the Presidents of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on December 25, 2017 in Astana, as well as investigating the feasibility of year-round, rather than seasonal, operation of the crossing point.The crossing point is equipped with modern technology in compliance with regulatory requirements, ensuring control and security at the border. The crossing point was crossed by 27,000 people between June and August.There are a total of eightcrossing points on the Kazakh-Kyrgyz state border, according to the Agreement between the Governments of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan on border crossing pointsdated December 25, 2003.The agreement of the Heads of State to change the status of the Aukhatty-Ken Bulun and Sartobe-Tokmokcrossing points from bilateral to multilateral was implemented on August 17, 2018 during the seventh meeting of the Kazakh-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Council. This will decrease the burden on other crossing points, and will be more convenient for foreign tourists visiting Issyk-KulLake. The promotion of regional tourist routes is one of the priorities of both governments. BLED (SLOVENIA), September 10, 2018 - Kazakhstan and Slovenia intend to strengthen their comprehensive cooperation and partnership, with an emphasis on economic diplomacy and global interaction. This is the main message of the Kazakh-Slovenian political consultations that took place today.The Kazakh delegation was headed by Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Roman Vassilenko, while the Slovenian delegation was led by the State Secretary of the Slovenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Andrej Logar.The diplomats discussed in detail a wide range of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian interactions, reiterating their mutual commitment to expanding their partnership. An agreement was reached to intensify interaction between the foreign ministries within the economic diplomacy (bilateral trade turnover in 2017 was over €100 million). Astana, April 8, 2025 – Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Murat Nurtleu held a meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Timothy Musa Kabba, who arrived in Astana for his first official visit.During the conversation, the ministers discussed a wide range of issues, including political, economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation with a focus on expanding bilateral contacts.In this context, the sides confirmed their readiness to intensify efforts to improve the legal framework and to advance the practice of mutual visits at various levels.“Despite the geographical distance, we are interested in developing cooperation based on trust and equality. On June 19, Kazakh Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov held a meeting with a head of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs (Minister) of Switzerland Didier Burkhalter.K. Abdrakhmanov noted a high level of political and economic partnership between the two countries and stressed that Switzerland is one of the major trade and investment partners of Kazakhstan, bilateral trade turnover accounted for 2.8 billion USD in 2016.In the context of interaction within the UN, K. Minister of labor and social protection of the population of RK Berdibek Saparbayev during a working trip to Akmola region got acquainted with the work of the machine-building plant of JSC "Tynys", on the basis of which for the first time in the country it is planned to establish the production of wheelchairs with electric drive for persons with disabilities.The relevant agreement was previously concluded between the Ministry and the enterprise in order to improve the quality of rehabilitation services and meet the needs of persons with disabilities.Berdibek Saparbayev stressed that at the enlarged meeting of the government, the President of the country instructed to provide citizens with disabilities with all the necessary technical means and rehabilitation services, to increase the share of Kazakhstan content."Our duty is to provide people with disabilities with the necessary means and rehabilitation services. On Monday, June 24, Minister of labor and social protection of population of Kazakhstan Berdibek Saparbayev spoke about measures on promoting productive employment, which is one of the priority directions of the department activity."Providing employment directly affects the income of citizens and improving the quality of life of the unemployed and unproductive workers. Strengthening this work will help to reduce the number of low-income families and citizens who will find jobs and provide for themselves and their families on their own. For this purpose, we are implementing the State program "Enbek", - the Head of the Ministry of labor  said during the reporting meeting with the population.According to its data, last year in terms of the program 628 thousand people were covered by active measures on promoting employment, among which 497 thousand people were employed, including 380 thousand for permanent jobs. More than 14 thousand Kazakhstan citizens received preferential micro-loans, of which about 10 thousand unemployed people opened their own business for the first time.Another additional effect of micro-loaning is the creation new jobs. More than 12 thousand jobs have been created by the recipients of micro-loans.This year, on behalf of the Elbasy, the program was supplemented by an integrated national plan "Zhastar – el tiregi", in terms of which projects "Zhas maman" and "Zhas kasipker" aimed at strengthening measures of supporting youth employment has been implemented.So, for three years 200 thousand young specialists will be trained in 100 most popular professions on the basis of 200 modernized educational institutions."The plan of coverage of youth practice has been expanded. In 2019, we will send an additional 10,000 people, which will allow to cover the employment of 25,000 young people. Within three years, at least 60 thousand young people will learn the basics of entrepreneurship "Bastau Business",-  the Minister added.In terms of the implementation of social measures of the Elbasy "Aleumettik kamkorlyk" the measures on promoting employment of large families are expanded. Now, villagers with many children will be provided with state grants for new business ideas in the amount of 505 thousand tenge.For example, a large family can use received money to purchase a sewing machine and the necessary materials, and to organize the sewing of bed linen, national clothes and other products at home.Also, for mothers with many children, persons with disabilities and young people, a quota to receive 5 thousand preferential micro-loans is provided. On June 13-14, 2019, first Vice-Minister of labor and social protection of RK Yerzhan Zhilkibayev visited the North Kazakhstan region with a working trip. He had been in Akzhar, Taiynsha, Akkaiyn districts, district named after M. Zhumabayev and Petropavlovsk.In particular, the first Deputy head of the department got acquainted with the construction of 52 houses for immigrants coming from the labor-surplus regions in the framework of the pilot project included in the Comprehensive development plan of the North Kazakhstan region for 2019-2021.In addition, Yerzhan Zhilkibayev met and talked with individual entrepreneurs who took courses "Bastau business" and received preferential loans for the development of their own business under the State program for the development of productive employment and mass entrepreneurship "Enbek".During the visit to the Employment centers, the Vice-Minister paid special attention to the quality and timely provision of state support measures, met with mothers with many children, recipients of address social assistance and immigrants from labor-surplus regions.In Petropavlovsk Y.
