On July 18, 2025, it was reported that preparations for the upcoming heating season are in full swing in Turan district and Shymkent city. This is one of the most important initiatives aimed at ensuring a comfortable life for citizens and reliable heat supply in homes. The readiness of the heating system, networks and boiler rooms in the city and district is being systematically checked, defects are identified and repairs are being carried out. First, about the work on heating networks. Annual hydraulic tests were carried out on heating networks, as a result of which 98 defects were identified during pressure testing of the networks. To date, 68 of them, that is, more than 70%, have been completely eliminated. This is an important indicator of the condition of the main and internal pipeline system. In addition, the stability of water pressure and heat transfer is checked. According to experts, the quality of the heating season directly depends on the readiness of houses and social facilities. On July 16, 2025, another city sanitation work was carried out in Shymkent at the initiative of the Zhayly Environmental Department. This time, the main focus was on watering and mechanical cleaning of the central and peripheral streets of the city. Such activities are carried out in order to improve the quality of life of city residents, ensure health and comfort, as well as maintain environmental sustainability. Cleaning work began at 6:00 in the morning and continued until the evening. During this period, special water trucks sprayed water on the city streets to remove dust and dirt. Representatives of the Department of Environmental Protection also announced plans to expand the scope of work in this direction in the future. For example, if the weather permits, the main streets will be sprayed with water every week, and comprehensive cleaning will be carried out at least once a month. In addition, it is planned to purchase special small equipment for pedestrian walkways, which will allow improving the quality of cleaning in densely populated areas. On July 18, 2025, large-scale landscaping, irrigation and sanitation works were organized in the Abay district of Shymkent. This event is a continuation of the city administration's ongoing initiatives to protect nature and improve the ecological situation. Carrying out such works in the Abay district, one of the largest districts of the city, is important not only for improving the appearance, but also for improving the quality of life of residents and maintaining ecological balance. According to the district akimat, the cleaning and landscaping work began at 8:00 in the morning and continued until the evening. In addition to utility workers, volunteers, residents and students from local schools were involved in the event. The main streets, public places, courtyards, recreation areas and vacant land in the district were cleaned and covered with greenery. In particular, more than 200 trees and shrubs were planted, and water was poured into existing greenery. 5 water-carrying vehicles and 3 tractors were used for irrigation. This work was not limited to planting trees, but also included the collection of household waste, sorting and separating garbage, mowing grass, and cleaning gutter systems according to a special schedule. In order to maintain sanitary cleanliness, more than 30 tons of garbage were transported to special landfills. Local authorities noted that the main goal of this event is to form an ecological culture and increase environmental responsibility among residents. This is because currently, the reduction of green areas in cities, worsening air quality, and increasing household waste are becoming a worrying problem. Through such large-scale events, the city's population is encouraged to be involved in nature conservation and to show compassion for their native land. Such planting and cleaning work is not the first time that Abay district has organized such a project. For example, in the spring of 2023, more than 3 thousand seedlings were planted in this very district as part of the “Green Belt” project. Even then, public organizations and educational institutions were active, and a Saturday was organized with the participation of residents. And in the fall of 2024, old trees in the district were cut down for sanitary purposes, and new, dust-absorbing willows and poplars were planted in their place. Similarly, in 2022, at the initiative of the city administration, mass cleaning work was carried out as part of a special project called "Clean Abay". That time, 17 streets and 11 public areas of the district were completely cleaned, and the drainage systems were repaired. As a result of these works, it was noted that support from the residents of the district increased and a culture of constant cleanliness began to form. The cleaning and planting event, which took place on July 18, 2025, is a legitimate continuation of those previous initiatives. This year's special feature is the voluntary participation of residents and the activity of young people. Volunteers from the Youth Resource Center explained to residents the importance of planting seedlings and taught them how to sort garbage. This work was carried out in an accessible manner using specially prepared leaflets and visual materials. Also, this year, for the first time, an environmental monitoring group was created and tasked with systematically maintaining the planted greenery. This group will conduct monthly monitoring, monitoring the watering, care, and growth dynamics of the trees. This approach has not been practiced in previous years, so this innovation is attracting the attention of residents. At the end of the event, which was attended by representatives of the city maslikhat and the deputy akim of the district, letters of gratitude were presented to active citizens of the district. In addition, a small environmental competition was announced under the slogan "Clean district - healthy society", encouraging residents to improve their yards. In conclusion, the landscaping and cleaning work that took place in the Abay district on July 18 was an important initiative that deepened the ecological culture and mobilized the city's residents to work together. This work should not be limited to a one-day event, but should continue in the future. As the experience of previous years has shown, only systematic and community-wide measures will bring real results. If residents become more active and their attitude towards environmental protection changes, this will benefit not only the city, but also future generations.

On July 21, 2025, a large-scale cleanup was held in Shymkent. Future plans The Shymkent city administration and environmental organizations will continue to organize Saturdays in the future. In addition, various trainings and flash mobs will be held to introduce a culture of waste sorting and increase environmental literacy among residents. The Sembilik, which took place on July 21, 2025, is one of the important steps towards the development of ecological culture in the city of Shymkent. It is worth noting that compared to similar events held in previous years, the activity of the participants of this year's Sembilik, the scale of the territory covered, and the level of organization were higher. This Sembilik was not only a manifestation of cleanliness, but also a manifestation of social responsibility and unity. Cameras record all events, ensuring transparency for both inmates and penitentiary staff.In the first year of the article’s enforcement, more than 70 criminal cases have been initiated. 35 inmates have already been sentenced to additional prison terms and are required to compensate for the material damage caused.For example, at Correctional Facility No. 55 in Shymkent, 13 inmates deliberately disabled surveillance cameras. By court ruling, each was given an additional 6 years of imprisonment.Today, over 43,000 cameras have been installed across 78 correctional facilities in the country. Shymkent on the move: how the city is rebuilding its transport system Shymkent is one of the fastest growing cities in Kazakhstan, and the transport infrastructure here has long required adaptation to new realities. Population growth, an increase in the number of cars and the expansion of the urban area pose the task for the authorities - to transform disparate road sections into a single and sustainable system. A comprehensive program to upgrade the transport infrastructure was launched in the metropolis in 2024. It covers not only the construction of roads and interchanges, but also the modernization of stops, safety systems and lighting. Scale: from streets to highways According to official data, by the end of 2024, 75% of city roads were already in good or satisfactory condition. In 2025, it is planned to increase this figure to 90%. The main efforts are aimed at developing connectivity and reducing the load on central streets. Among the major projects is the construction of railway crossings on Momynova and Tlenshina streets in the Yenbekshinsky district. They will connect the eastern part of the city with the center, which will redistribute traffic flows and reduce congestion on existing highways. Construction on Momynova started in December 2024 and is already half complete. At the same time, major repairs are underway on the emergency bridge at the intersection of Koikeldi Batyr and Aknazar Khan streets. The work will be completed by the end of 2025. One of the most ambitious projects was the extension of Kunayev Avenue. The total length of the route is 16.3 km, the work is divided into six stages. Some sections have already been completed, two more are planned to be completed by the end of the year, and the final stage - in 2026. The new avenue should become an alternative to the busy Respubliki Avenue and relieve traffic on the way out of the city. The reconstruction of the A-2 bypass road is also actively underway. This 28.2 km long transit corridor connects Shymkent with other regions of the country and plays a key role in cargo transportation. The first four stages have already been completed, and three more are planned for completion in 2025. The last stage will be completed in 2026. Part of the strategy also includes the construction of new connecting streets: the extension of Kaziyev Street (1.7 km) will provide an alternative exit from the northern microdistricts of Akzhayik and ShymCity. By 2026, the authorities intend to completely pave 850 streets with a total length of over 1,000 km. Of these, 540 streets will be paved this year. Focus on safety: from pedestrians to lighting Along with road construction, efforts to ensure road safety are being stepped up. In 2025, 32 new traffic lights will appear in the city, 10 of which have already been installed. Unregulated pedestrian crossings are another weak link in the system. To date, 67,949 small and medium–sized businesses operate in the region, employing 164.3 thousand employees, which is 3.2% more than last year (April 1, 2024 - 159.2 thousand people).The output of SMEs in the 1st quarter of this year also increased by 15.5% and amounted to 515.9 billion tenge (April 1, 2024 – 446.7 billion tenge).In general, more than 30% of the region's economy is provided by small and medium–sized businesses (the share of SMEs in the gross regional product is 30.2%).The positive dynamics of these indicators is greatly facilitated by the implementation of state support measures. Thus, within the framework of the Comprehensive Entrepreneurship Development Program for the 1st half of this year, 135 business projects for a total amount of loans of 15.9 billion tenge were provided with preferential lending conditions due to government subsidization of part of the interest rate and the provision of guarantees by Damu Entrepreneurship Development Fund JSC and a special Guarantee fund to cover the shortage of collateral. Projects implemented in rural areas account for 26%.In addition, work is underway to provide enterprises, including those located in the Industrial Zone in Kostanay, with the missing engineering and communication infrastructure.
