Reservoirs in the southern regions of Kazakhstan are 55% full. This is a 23% increase compared to the same period last year. Currently, reservoirs in the south of the country are operating in the mode of water accumulation for the next irrigation season. At the same time, water is discharged from reservoirs in the northern, western and eastern regions. This is done in order to provide free volumes for receiving meltwater during the spring flood. As of today, reservoirs in the north are 79% full. The average volume of water accumulation in reservoirs in the western regions is 44%. Reservoirs in the east are 89% full, and in the central part of the country the filling level is 85%."Today, all reservoirs are operating according to the established schedule. However, the work schedule will be adjusted depending on flood forecasts. Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev reported on the situation in the industry, representatives of industry associations – Unions of Machine Builders Meiram Pshembayev and industrial investors Kairat Elamanov, Kazakhstan Automobile Union Anar Makasheva made presentations.By the end of 2023, the share of mechanical engineering in the GDP structure reached 1.9%. There is an increase in production volume and a positive trend in attracting investments. For 9 months of this year, about 108.2 billion tenge was invested in Kazakhstani projects, which exceeds the volume for the same period last year by 2.2 times. One of the key issues of the sector is the modernization of equipment. The Prime Minister noted that in mechanical engineering, the wear of machinery reaches 40%. Then Astana Motors received the right to produce multimedia devices on the territory of the country using the technology of a South Korean partner. The technical opening of the plant took place in September 2024, and the first batch of electronic audio and video equipment has already been transferred to the Hyundai Trans Kazakhstan plant for installation on cars of the Tucson and Elantra models.The Minister of Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev expressed confidence that the launch of the plant is a valuable contribution to strengthening cooperation between the two countries, which will be a turning point in the automotive industry of Kazakhstan."Multimedia systems are high–precision manufacturing that requires the competencies of first-class specialists in the field of digital technologies and engineering. Our key goal is to create a production cycle with a high degree of localization. And we will make maximum use of domestic raw materials and components. That is why Kazakhstan Mobility Engineering is important for the country," Sharlapayev said in his speech.Jungson Kim, CEO of Motrex, also noted the importance of local production."It is a great honor for us to attend the opening ceremony of the plant in Kazakhstan, which embodies the strong partnership between Astana Motors and Motrex. Our goal is to work closely with our partners to increase local component production, and to lead the assembly of multimedia devices. The partnership will allow us to respond quickly to local needs, create jobs and support Kazakhstan's economic growth," Mr. Kim stressed.Another significant event for the Kazakhstan Mobility Engineering plant also took place today. Astana Motors has signed a memorandum with South Korean manufacturer Sanico Electronics. As part of the agreement, the Kazakh side receives the right to manufacture motherboards and enclosures for multimedia systems using SMT and PRESS technologies. In the future, the cooperation will further deepen the localization of the production of automotive components in the country and will contribute to further professional development of Kazakhstani engineering and technical personnel.Beknur Nesipbayev, CEO of the company, said that the launch of the enterprise and cooperation with a Korean partner is an important step not only for Astana Motors, but also for the entire automotive industry."I would like to thank our partner, Mr. Kim, for trusting our country and our company, and I am sure that this is just the beginning of working together. According to him, Astana Motors, realizing all responsibility and involvement in this area, undertakes to increase the localization of automotive production.The Kazakhstan Mobility Engineering plant is part of the Astana Motors Engineering technopark under construction for the production of automotive components, located in the Industrial Zone of Almaty on an area of 100 thousand square meters. Investments in the construction of the production complex amounted to about 15.5 billion tenge. After completion of construction, two more enterprises will open on the territory of the technopark: a factory for the production of car seats, a factory for the production of rubber and plastic products for cars, as well as a logistics hub. The launch of the company for the production of car seats is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024. The technical production capacity of the entire technopark is planned at the level of 100 thousand sets per year. It is expected that more than 90 specialists will work in the cluster, and the staff of the entire production complex will be about 400 people.
