The 12th Open Championship in Robotics, Programming, and Innovative Technologies — Almaty TechCup XII — for the Mayor's Cup has begun in Almaty. In 2026, the obligation to calculate and pay current payments, as well as submit form 701.01, arises for sole proprietors (with the exception of the tax assessment based on a simplified declaration) and legal entities if the estimated amount of property tax exceeds 300 MCI — 1,297,500 tenge (with MCI for 2026 4,325 tenge). Now, individual entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals can carry out all key tax procedures remotely via their phones, avoiding queues and unnecessary paperwork.For the self-employed, the process is simple: there is no need to register as an individual entrepreneur or file tax returns. It is sufficient to generate receipts within the "E-Salyq Business" app for each instance of income received.At the end of each month, the app automatically generates a record of income and calculates social payments. Smart Data Finance (SDF) is a unified analytical platform of the State Revenue Authorities designed to consolidate, process, and analyze tax and customs data.The project includes 13 functional subsystems, 107 integration interfaces with internal and external information systems, and 12 data exchange services connected to 36 government agencies, second-tier banks, and other organizations. The total volume of processed data exceeds 2.3 petabytes.The platform is built on Big Data technologies, enabling the consolidation, processing, storage, and analysis of information from government information systems. Based on these data, a unified digital taxpayer profile is created for both individuals and legal entities, providing a comprehensive view of economic activities, improving tax risk management, and supporting more informed decision-making.The use of Big Data technologies promotes a risk-based approach to tax administration, whereby oversight is focused on transactions exhibiting elevated risk indicators. This approach aligns with the government's policy of reducing the administrative burden on compliant taxpayers, preventing violations, and increasing the level of voluntary tax compliance.One of the platform's practical applications is the implementation of the "Digital VAT" pilot project, which utilizes the Digital Tenge for VAT refunds to exporters. The information system provides functionality that automates interactions among pilot participants, reduces the VAT refund processing period from 55 days to 10 business days, and supports legislative amendments extending the pilot project through the end of 2026.The consolidation of tax, customs, and other government data within a single analytical platform has enabled the adoption of new approaches to tax risk identification. The State Revenue Department for Almaty informs about changes to the rules for moving mobile devices across the customs border of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).Starting from April 19, 2026, amendments approved by Decision No. 34 of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission entered into force. From now on, individuals importing devices for personal use are required to register their unique international identifier in customs documents.What Citizens Need to KnowWhen completing a passenger customs declaration, the IMEI code must be indicated in the field “Name of Goods and Description” for cellular communication devices.This requirement applies to the following categories of gadgets:smartphones and mobile phones;tablets with cellular connectivity;any other devices that use mobile communication networks and have an individual IMEI code.The indication of the unique code is necessary for the subsequent identification and verification of the device in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the field of communications and customs regulation.Risks and LiabilityPlease note that the submission of incomplete or inaccurate information during customs declaration entails liability measures provided for by the current legislation of the EAEU and the Republic of Kazakhstan.To avoid delays at the border, citizens are advised to check the IMEI code of the imported gadget in advance.          On June 30, 2026, in the city of Aktobe, the State Revenue Committee of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with the Mybuh.kz expert community, held an open seminar for business representatives, the accounting community, and taxpayers as part of the "People's Accountant" information and outreach campaign.        The event served as another platform for open dialogue between state revenue authorities and the business community. Its primary objective was to help taxpayers understand recent changes to tax legislation and to provide practical clarifications and answers to the most pressing questions regarding the application of the new Tax Code.       During the seminar, participants were briefed in detail on key changes to tax legislation, improvements in tax administration, and the State Revenue Committee’s modern digital tools. Strasbourg, Nancy, Metz, June 28-29, 2026 – As part of a working visit to the regions of France, Professor Gulnara Mendikulova, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor at the Kazakh-British Technical University, and Knight of the Academic Palms Order, conducted comprehensive research work aimed at determining the fates and burial places of Kazakhstani soldiers who perished during the liberation of France in the Second World War.The work began with a visit to the South Cemetery in Strasbourg, where the burial sites of two Soviet soldiers were identified, which are likely natives of Kazakhstan.The research followed at the Departmental Archives of Meurthe-et-Moselle in Nancy. Professor Mendikulova studied archival fonds, card files, and personal files of militaries of the Kazakh SSR who died on French territory. The analysis of archival documents made it possible to clarify data on the burial places of Kazakhstani soldiers, as well as to determine the next search steps.Further, Professor Mendikulova held a meeting with Xavier Laurent, Director of the Departmental Archives of Meurthe-et-Moselle, and archivist Julie Denand. During the meeting, G.Mendikulova expressed gratitude to French colleagues for their research support and access to historical documents. The parties confirmed their mutual interest in further developing cooperation in identifying the fates of Kazakhstani militaries and in honour soldier’s memories who fell in the struggle for the liberation of France.The research work also continued at the Chambière military necropolis in Metz (Moselle department), where Soviet military burials are located.
