Tax reforms discussed at a meeting with the Vice Minister of Finance in Karaganda 21.02.2025
Karaganda businessmen expressed their comments and suggestions regarding tax reforms at a meeting with the Vice Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dauren Temirbekov. The discussion lasted more than two hours. During this time, 19 representatives of various industries and the service sector made reports. Entrepreneurs expressed their positions in an open dialogue.Recall that on February 7, during a meeting with business in Astana, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the Government to further develop the issue of VAT rates. Working groups will travel to the regions to discuss tax reforms with the local business community. The issue of introducing a differentiated approach was discussed.– It is proposed to set the general VAT rate at 16%, and it is planned to completely exempt agricultural producers from taxes. It is proposed to introduce an intermediate rate of 10% for a number of industries, said Dauren Temirbekov. It is also proposed to reduce the current threshold for VAT registration from 80 million tenge to 15 million tenge. And entrepreneurs believe that it is necessary to expand the use of zero VAT.- Today I represent the interests of the meat processing industry, an important segment of the agro-industrial complex. Agricultural producers are exempt from VAT, and meat processing enterprises, although they are a logical continuation of the production chain, are not yet. I propose to create a level playing field. This decision will increase the competitiveness of taxes and ensure stable prices for meat products, - said businessman Denis Dedov. The head of the Temirtau Republican Public Association, Marina Boshel, raised issues related to B2B business.Various industries were touched upon: housing construction, legal and accounting services, trade, etc. b.Member of the regional council Nikolay Abt proposed to focus on combating the shadow economy, de-monopolizing certain industries, privatizing state assets, and reviewing tax breaks for large raw materials companies. He provided a detailed analysis of potential risks for the economy and business. The meeting participants called on the interests of small and medium-sized businesses to be taken into account, which will ensure economic development and job creation. All proposals will be sent to the Ministry of Finance through the National Economic and Social Council "Atameken".- There was a good dialogue. Many proposals were made. We wrote everything down, of course, we will discuss it. We will visit the regions, some of the proposals are similar. Questions that are taken into account in the new tax code were also raised. The work will continue, including on the Parliament Square, - concluded Dauren Temirbekov.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/karaganda/press/news/details/938592
