Kostanay region strengthens its position as one of the leading industrial centers of Kazakhstan 04.07.2026
The Kostanay region is confidently solidifying its status as one of the key industrial regions of the country. Today, the foundation of the economy is the manufacturing industry, which accounts for over 70% of the region's total industrial production. Based on the results of 2025, the region ranked fourth in Kazakhstan in terms of output volume of the manufacturing sector. The main drivers of growth are mechanical engineering and metallurgy. The mechanical engineering sector alone forms almost half of the region's entire manufacturing industry. The Kostanay region is rightfully considered the automotive capital of the country: over half of all cars in Kazakhstan are produced here. Last year, enterprises in the region produced nearly 95 thousand vehicles, and this year it is planned to increase this figure to more than 116 thousand units. The development of the automotive industry is linked to the operations of the sector's largest enterprises — the "SaryarkaAvtoProm" and "KIA Qazaqstan" plants. Simultaneously, the region is strengthening its position in agricultural machinery manufacturing. Kostanay-based facilities produce equipment from global brands LOVOL, Deutz-Fahr, AMAZONE, as well as "Kirovets" and "Belarus" tractors. An important milestone was the signing of an agreement on the industrial assembly of John Deere equipment at the localization center in Kostanay. The metallurgical industry also makes a significant contribution to the region's economy. Last year, the production volume of metallurgical products exceeded 416 billion tenge. The steady growth of industry contributes to increasing export potential, creating new jobs, and strengthening the region's competitiveness. One of the most significant investment projects in recent years was the launch of the KIA Qazaqstan automobile plant in Kostanay. The project was implemented with the participation of the Head of State and became an important stage in the development of the domestic automotive industry. The total investment amounted to 131.5 billion tenge, of which 90% are direct foreign investments. The plant's production capacity reaches 70 thousand vehicles per year, and the number of jobs created will be 1,500.Today, a full-fledged automotive components cluster is forming around the plant. Within the framework of the TEHNOPARK KZ project worth 17.8 billion tenge, the creation of 800 jobs is planned. Components for KIA vehicles will be produced here, including bumpers, interior elements, seats, wiring, and other parts. Additionally, nearly 50 billion tenge in investments are expected to be directed towards the development of technological equipment.Projects by the company KamLit KZ make a notable contribution to the development of the region's industrial potential. Last year, two new enterprises with a total cost of 160.5 billion tenge were commissioned. The plants created 650 jobs. The enterprises specialize in the production of main rear axle drives and the localization of production of rear axle beams for commercial vehicles.Overall, in 2025, seven major industrial projects with a total value of 322 billion tenge were implemented in the Kostanay region, creating approximately 3.3 thousand new jobs. This year, the launch of another 13 projects with a total investment volume of about 100 billion tenge is planned.Parallel to the industrial sector, the agro-industrial complex is actively developing. Among the promising projects are the construction of a trout farm and a fish processing plant in the Kostanay district. The implementation of the project will meet up to 30% of the regional demand for fish products. The construction of a modern vegetable storage facility with a capacity of over 5 thousand tons is also planned.Special attention is paid to the development of the processing industry. Projects under consideration in the region include the construction of a sugar plant in Rudny, an oil extraction plant in Lisakovsk, and a complex for processing grains and oilseeds. The implementation of these projects will increase the added value of agricultural products and strengthen food security.Another strategic facility will be the "Tobyl" transport and logistics complex in Kostanay. Investments in the project will amount to 63.8 billion tenge. The complex will ensure the creation of 500 new jobs, and its capacity will reach 400 thousand containers per year. The new logistics center will significantly expand the region's transit and export potential. The consistent implementation of industrial, infrastructure, and agricultural projects allows the Kostanay region to strengthen its position as one of the locomotives of the country's economic growth, attract investments, create new jobs, and form a modern, competitive economy.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/kostanay/press/news/details/1242285?lang=ru

The Ministry of Trade summarized the interim results of its efforts to reduce the number of unproductive intermediaries in food markets 04.07.2026
On June 15, a meeting chaired by the Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Arman Shakkaliyev, was held on issues of establishing order in food markets and reducing unproductive intermediaries in commodity distribution chains. The meeting was attended by deputy akims (governors) of the regions, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the Agency for Protection and Development of Competition of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This concerns systematic work aimed at increasing trade transparency, eliminating shadow schemes, and ensuring fair pricing for socially significant products. As noted, the key task is to reduce unnecessary links between the producer and the consumer and to make pricing more transparent and controllable. This work has now moved into the practical phase. Sixty-three key markets that have the greatest impact on the price situation in the regions have been identified. On-site inspections, monitoring, and explanatory work are being conducted there. Just recently, 18 markets have been covered, including major markets such as "Altyn Orda" and "Barys-4". As a result of the inspections, about 486 violations have been identified, and response measures are being taken for each. "Simultaneously, efforts to establish order in commodity distribution chains are being intensified. Since the beginning of the year, 150 unproductive intermediaries have been removed from them. At the same time, inspections show that the problems are systemic, ranging from counterfeit and unmarked products to shadow turnover, violations of cash discipline, unregistered labor relations, and multiple subleases of trading spaces," reported Yernur Zhautikbayev, Chairman of the Trade Committee of the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The issue of illegal product trafficking was separately raised at the meeting. Despite existing restrictions, cases of selling imported chicken eggs without the necessary documents and labeling are being detected in a number of regions. In total, approximately 32.5 thousand units have been seized from illegal circulation. The need to strengthen interdepartmental coordination and mandatory video recording of the destruction of seized products was emphasized. Separately, during the meeting, data from the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan was presented. The ministry reported that its representatives conducted walk-throughs of 38 large food markets, as well as a comprehensive analysis of the financial and economic activities of the markets and trading entities operating on their territory. Based on the results of this work, 67 food markets have been selected for further monitoring and control measures. In total, 16,640 trading entities operate on their territory. The analysis showed that 4,843 entities were engaged in retail trade without registering cash registers, and 5,846 did not have registered POS terminals. Also, 247 entities with signs of underreporting income were identified. Additional analyses and time-study surveys have been scheduled for them. Furthermore, notifications about the need to appear for hearings have been sent to 109 entities. To date, hearings have been held for 74 entities, resulting in the submission of additional declarations of total income amounting to 3.5 billion tenge. Internal affairs bodies have also been involved in the work. According to their data, 2,345 cases of spontaneous trade, 37 cases of illegal trade, and 201 cases of illegal entrepreneurship have been identified in markets and adjacent areas.Further work will be structured according to a unified algorithm with a clear distribution of responsibility between state bodies and akimats (local administrations). The regions have been instructed to strengthen control in markets, install video surveillance systems, and intensify work to identify and eliminate unproductive intermediaries. Simultaneously, control over trade markups is being strengthened."Taking risk factors into account, 63 food markets have been identified where systemic violations are recorded, ranging from illegal activities and shadow employment to gross violations of sanitary and fire safety requirements. All these facilities have been placed under special control. We have conducted all necessary preventive and explanatory work. All warnings have been given. We will no longer work solely in an explanatory mode; strict measures will be taken, up to and including revising the operating format of these markets. Individuals operating outside the legal framework should not remain in the trading system," noted Arman Shakkaliyev.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mti/press/news/details/1241997?lang=ru
