Deputy Akim of the city Beibut Shakhanov, who oversees this area, told how snow removal is carried out in Almaty. 13.01.2025
Snowfall hit the metropolis on the night of January 7-8 and continued until noon. The height of the snow cover as of 12:00 reached 15 cm, in the mountainous area - 20-30 cm.According to Deputy Akim of Almaty Beibut Shakhanov, municipal services of the city promptly started clearing streets, roads and sidewalks, snow removal work is carried out around the clock.:- From 00:00 on January 8 to 11:00, about 15 centimeters of snow fell in the city. From 1:00 a.m., the road was sprinkled with anti-icing agents. At 4:30 a.m., we started shoveling snow from the roads to the roadsides. After that, work is underway to form shafts and load snow onto dump trucks, then export it to the appropriate landfills. This work is carried out as a priority on the central and main streets, since more citizens drive along these roads. Then we'll move on to district-level roads, and we'll try to do it as quickly as possible.According to generally accepted standards, main streets are cleaned for up to 3 days, and district streets for up to 7 days. As a rule, we try to do this earlier.During the day, we employ about 500 units of snow removal equipment and more than 1,100 road workers. At night, about the same number of vehicles and people go out, but we try to mostly work at night in the absence of traffic. The city is actively updating road snow removal equipment. Over the past 2 years, we have purchased about 140 units of new modern equipment. This work will continue this year. We will buy more modern equipment that improves the speed of work and effectively replaces manual labor. Due to this, we will improve the quality of harvesting work.Last year, the city adopted landscaping rules, according to which landscaping passports were introduced. According to them, trade facilities and institutions are required to ensure cleanliness around their points. And this also applies to snow removal, so we urge trade facilities to actively participate in the cleaning of the city.Given the need for a certain amount of time for snow removal, we ask our citizens to understand the temporary inconveniences, as well as to provide assistance and not park cars at the roadsides until we have cleared the snow.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/almaty/press/news/details/914866

The first snow melting plant with a capacity of up to 1,200 cubic meters of snow per day has been launched in Almaty. 09.01.2025
In Almaty, as part of the instructions of the mayor of the city, Yerbolat Dosayev, a snow melting plant was opened, where, for the first time in Kazakhstan, environmentally friendly melting technology and efficient snow disposal were used. The new facility was built on the base where the anti-icing reagents of the Almaty Tazalyk KGP were previously stored. The need to create it is associated with the growing burden on the city's infrastructure and the increase in snowfall in recent years. The operation of the snow melting point is based on the use of wastewater heat, which flows through the existing sewer network. Warm water under pressure passes through a system of pumping units and pipelines, dissolving snow. After that, the resulting meltwater enters the filter, is cleaned of sand and debris, and then into the city sewer network. The installation capacity is up to 1,200 cubic meters of snow per day.Snow is removed from the territories of Auezovsky, Almalinsky and Bostandyk districts to the snow melting point. In these areas, the issue of snow removal is most acute, and traffic does not allow efficient removal of snow from the main streets. In addition, this solution can significantly reduce the time and resources spent on snow removal outside the city, as well as reduce the negative impact on the environment.According to Yertay Kasenov, Deputy Director of the Almaty Tazalyk State Enterprise, the introduction of a snow melting point is a significant step in ensuring environmental sustainability and improving the quality of life in the metropolis."In recent years, winter precipitation has become more intense, and we are forced to look for new solutions for effective snow disposal. The snow melting point is a modern alternative to the traditional method when snow is transported to landfills," Yertay Kasenov added. It should be noted that the project is aimed at improving the winter maintenance of city streets and increasing comfort for Almaty residents in winter.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/almaty/press/news/details/915122

Since 2016, a bicycle infrastructure development program has been implemented in the metropolis. In the same year, 270 bicycles and 50 stations were put into operation in a pilot mode. And in 2017, another 1,460 bicycles and 150 stations were added.Previously, this project was "Velocity.kz "in 2020, this right was transferred to the Arman Aimak Public Foundation. From 2018 to 2020, the project was implemented with the financing of the Almaty City Sports Department. Subsequently, the bicycle rental project was transferred to the consideration of the city mobility Department. In 2025, the Almaty Akimat plans to restart the bicycle rental project. This work is carried out by the municipal state enterprise "Almaty Parking". This institution is also engaged in a parking program in the metropolis.According to the director of the organization, Vladimir Ni, the mayor's office focuses on making bike rental as comfortable as possible."Studying the city's features, we have taken into account past mistakes. Cycling has not been updated since 2016. But now times have changed. Previously, there were only mechanical bicycles, but now they are equipped with electric motors," said Vladimir Ni.The project examined the experience of European countries, Russia, Japan, Korea and China."Although European bicycles are of good quality, their spare parts are very expensive, many of them are made in China. Modern exercise bikes are equipped with vandal-proof protection, which increases their service life. Their frames are sturdy, and the brakes and plastic batteries are highly durable. This will allow cycling bikes to be used in various climatic conditions," the specialist noted.Project manager Samat Agabek noted that two different Bikes are currently being tested. One of them is designed for an Asian build, and the other is for a European build."For six months we have been testing the bikes and putting them into operation for the townspeople. We took them to the service centers for technical inspection and assessed how convenient and easy it is to repair, the ability to find parts. We are currently preparing a technical description for the competition," Samat Agabek said.At the first stage, it is planned to purchase 2,000 bicycles. If these cars are in demand among Almaty residents, their number will be increased."We hope that bike bikes will become a part of urban life and complement the micromobile transport system. It also contributes to the environment," Vladimir Ni said.Software improvements are also envisaged."A special application is being developed that will be on the balance sheet of the city. Bike bikes are equipped with GPS devices. This allows you to track their movement in real time and protect them from theft. The Mayor's Office is developing parking rules for micromobile vehicles. After the approval of these rules, we are planning a parking map," said the project manager.Bike bikes are mostly located in the city center. There is no access to the mountainous areas. This restriction applies to all rental systems."About 1,500 people use bicycles in Almaty every day. We think that as soon as electric bicycles are put into operation, their popularity will increase. Because they are safe and convenient," concluded Samat Agabek.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/almaty/press/news/details/911120

Santa Claus' yurts opened in Almaty 04.01.2025
Almaty has festive yurts decorated in the national style. They are installed in three prominent places of the city: Astana and Abai squares, and on Arbat.
The doors of the yurts, where Santa Claus will welcome guests, will be open to visitors every day from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Residents and guests of the city will be able to take pictures with the main character of the New Year until December 31 and immerse themselves in the atmosphere of joy and miracles.
On December 31, yurts will be open on Astana Square until midnight, and at the beginning of 2025 there will be a New Year's concert followed by fireworks.
In the remaining days before the New Year, various creative workshops, interesting games, live performances on decorated stages and meetings with favorite New Year's characters will be held near the yurts.
Masters and craftsmen will hold master classes for the whole family, where guests can make unique New Year's toys with their own hands. It will be possible to decorate wooden Christmas tree toys, decorate mugs with bright drawings and decorative elements, make music boxes and animate plaster figures on a New Year's theme. These classes will allow everyone to feel like a real craftsman and take a piece of the holiday with them.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/almaty/press/news/details/911156
