Astana hosted the international conference on accreditation and quality of medical care "Patient in the spotlight" in honor of the 15th anniversary of the accreditation system in healthcare, where participants shared their experience in improving the quality of medical care.The accreditation system is designed to stimulate the high quality of medical services and patient safety through a voluntary assessment of the medical organization for compliance with standards in all aspects of the organization's work. Zhakselekova, a meeting was held with representatives of government agencies and the civil sector to discuss Alternative Reports No. 2 and No. 8 prepared by a Coalition of non-governmental Organizations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the topics of which touch on fundamental issues such as the right to life, the right to freedom and personal integrity, freedom from torture and other types of ill-treatment and punishment, the rights of prisoners, the right to a fair trial.The Universal Periodic Review (UPR) is a unique mechanism for reviewing human rights information in all 193 UN Member States, which is carried out every four years. The UPR is part of the structure of the Human Rights Council and provides an opportunity for each country to inform about the measures it has taken to improve the human rights situation, as well as to fulfill its obligations in this area.As you know, the third cycle of Kazakhstan's protection under the UPR took place in 2019, following which 245 recommendations from the participating countries of the UN Human Rights Council were received.
