A DEVICE FOR PRESERVING ORGANS FOR TRANSPLANTATION HAS BEEN DEVELOPED IN KAZAKHSTAN 02.12.2024
The Kazakh team of cardiac surgeons at the University Medical Center is working on creating a unique device for preserving organs outside the body. This can significantly improve the results of transplants, UMC reports. As part of the project, specialists are developing technologies to preserve a beating heart, as well as "breathing" lungs and a functioning liver. In the future, it is planned to expand to the kidneys. The organ can be kept in a viable state for at least 24 hours. It has been scientifically proven that the functions of the heart outside the body can be maintained for 29 hours with subsequent successful transplantation. Today, only one device - the American OCS system of TransMedics company allows you to safely and effectively maintain the viability of organs."The main difference between our device and the American one is that it implies longer-term support for an isolated organ, and unlike the American counterpart, our system provides for the treatment of an organ throughout the entire period of vital activity outside the body, and we can treat and evaluate this organ by performing ultrasound examination, intravascular examination of arteries, which nourish the heart, and thereby ensure its safety, so that the recipient receives the organ and has no risk of rejection or dysfunction of the transplant and, most importantly, is safe," said Timur Lesbekov, director of the Clinical Academic Department of Cardiac Surgery at the University Medical Center Corporate Foundation.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/dsm/press/news/details/894543

Earthquake safety: KazNIISA JSC tests a residential building for loads up to 9 points 02.12.2024
Specialists of KazNIISA JSC are planning to conduct vibrodynamic tests of a 13-storey residential building located in Almaty. This study is carried out by order of the construction company "RAMS Kazakhstan" LLP.At the moment, the construction and installation works of the building have been completed, and the specialists of KazNIISA JSC are carrying out preparatory measures for testing. The main purpose of the research work is to study the specifics of the behavior of a residential building of a wall structural system under loads similar to seismic ones, as well as to verify the correctness of the design assumptions adopted during its design.During the seismic resistance tests, the structural scheme of the residential building will be checked, the dynamic parameters and features of the deformation of the object during the tests will be determined, and a visual inspection will be performed after each stage. The building's testing period is from November 26 to December 6, 2024. Based on the test results, the customer will be able to use the scientific and technical report to analyze the characteristics of the building and eliminate the identified deficiencies before commissioning.Vibrodynamic tests are practically the only method (with the exception of testing small buildings on vibration and seismic platforms) that allows testing full-scale buildings in existing buildings and obtaining data necessary for theoretical prediction of the condition of objects after real earthquakes.KazNIISA JSC is the only institute in the CIS that conducts such field tests of buildings and structures. The Institute's activities are aimed at improving the reliability and seismic stability of construction facilities, which is of particular importance for regions with high seismic activity.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mps/press/news/details/894421
