During the last winter alone, 90 people were rescued and evacuated from the slopes, 18 emergency rescue operations were carried out, and 70 storm warnings were announced. According to the draft Water Code, in order to protect settlements and facilities, local executive bodies should carry out work on the construction of dams, mobile fences, bypass channels and temporary reservoirs. In turn, the basin plans will determine the measures necessary for each of the country's eight water basins. The draft of the new Water Code also provides for measures to counter droughts, including monitoring of precipitation and soil moisture, collection and storage of flood waters for dry periods, the introduction of water-saving technologies and adaptation of agriculture through the use of drought-resistant crops.
