Yesterday was a significant day in the history of medicine in our region. Liver transplantation surgery was performed for the first time in our region. The liver transplant operation for a 40-year-old patient, an able-bodied person, was successfully completed at the regional multidisciplinary hospital. The donor was a relative of the patient, born in 1993. The patient had been suffering from cirrhosis of the liver for 9 years, and treatment had failed.
