ASTAN DOCTOR SAVED A LIFE ON BOARD A PLANE 01.02.2025

A hockey match was held in Astana over the weekend at the Barys Arena sports complex in memory of donor Maxim Voinyusha, who saved the lives of four patients.On July 15, Maxim Voinyusha was urgently taken to the emergency department of the Turkestan Regional Clinical Hospital after a serious accident. The 18-year-old young man was driving a moped that collided with a car. Despite the efforts of doctors, his condition remained critical. A few days later, on July 23, Maxim's irreversible brain death was confirmed.The day after the declaration of brain death, Maxim's relatives were interviewed and they decided to donate.This event is not only a way to express gratitude and recognition to Maxim and his family, but also an important step in promoting posthumous organ donation in Kazakhstan.Today, Kazakhstan has all the modern infrastructure for conducting high-tech organ transplantation operations. Currently, 7 transplant centers operate in the country, 40 donor hospitals, and 4 immunological typing laboratories have been organized. The complex heart transplantation operation, lasting 6 hours, was performed by doctors of the Research Institute of Cardiology and Internal Medicine under the supervision of cardiac surgeon Yuri Pya in collaboration with the University Medical Center.The organ donor was a 45-year-old resident of Almaty region, doctors declared him brain dead. Thanks to the consent of relatives, the lives of 4 citizens of Kazakhstan were saved, including a 43-year-old man with a serious heart disease "dilated cardiomyopathy (toxic)". One of the factors contributing to the deterioration of the patient's condition was excessive consumption of energy drinks for 5 years, which led to terminal heart failure that did not respond to drug therapy.The patient was worried about shortness of breath. and shortness of breath with minor physical activity, rapid fatigue and general weakness. I began to notice a deterioration in my health in December 2023. Heredity is imposed on the maternal line - ischemic heart disease and acute myocardial infarction.“The level of development of cardiac surgery and cardiac resuscitation in our country allows us to achieve positive results in heart transplantation operations. A kidney was transplanted to a 17-year-old patient from the Zhetysu region at the National Scientific Center named after A. Syzganov and an 18-year-old patient from the capital. A lung was transplanted to a 43-year-old patient from the Kostanay region at the University Medical Center, and corneal keratoplasty was performed on two recipients at the UMC.
