Regular political consultations between Kazakhstan and Cyprus were held 14.01.2025
Astana, January 13, 2025 – the Ministry of foreign affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan discussed the current state and prospects for the development of Kazakh-Cypriot relations within the framework of the second meeting of Political Consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs of the two countries.The main topics of the event, chaired by Deputy Minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Vasilenko and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of foreign affairs of the Republic of Cyprus Andreas Kakuris, were the exchange of views on issues of political, trade and economic cooperation, expanding the legal framework, as well as key aspects of the International and regional agenda.R. Vasilenko noted that Kazakhstan considers Cyprus as an important and reliable partner in the European Union. He expressed readiness to further deepen bilateral and multilateral ties.In turn, the head of the Cypriot delegation noted the importance of regular meetings of the heads of foreign ministries of the two countries, including the UN General Assembly in September and the meeting of foreign ministers of the OSCE member states in December. Kakuris, the recent opening of the Embassy of Cyprus in Kazakhstan was an important step towards strengthening the entire spectrum of relations between Nicosia and Astana.At the end of the meeting, the parties approved the schedule of further contacts in order to effectively implement the previously reached agreements.On the same day, the Cypriot delegation met with Deputy Minister of foreign affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alibek Bakayev and exchanged views on the situation within the framework of international and regional organizations.The parties agreed on the need to resolve conflicts in the region only by peaceful means, guided by the principles of international law.For reference: in January-November 2024, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Cyprus amounted to 7.1 million US dollars (exports – 6.1 million, imports – 1 million), which is 5 times higher than the same indicator in 2023. THE CENTRAL WATER SPORTS COMPLEX, TRANSFERRED TO TRUST MANAGEMENT, HAS BEEN RETURNED TO THE STATE. 14.01.2025
The Akimat of Shymkent city is systematically working to return illegally provided land plots and facilities to state ownership. At the end of last year, the Central Water Sports Complex was returned from trust management to state ownership.In 2017, by a decree of the Akimat of the South Kazakhstan region, the Central Water Sports Complex was transferred to trust management with the right to purchase. The market value of the facility was 1 billion 213 million 700 thousand tenge. As a result of e-commerce, a trust management agreement was concluded with the winner of GRAND TRUST LLP. According to the contract, the trustee had to invest 500 million tenge in the facility and fulfill tax obligations on time.However, the terms of the contract were not fulfilled. Due to the unfair performance of the duties of the management company, the building has become unusable today. The walls were cracked, and some of the floor coverings had collapsed. During the preliminary inspection, it was established that the complex does not meet safety requirements and its operation poses a threat to the life and health of citizens.Under the leadership of the director of GRAND TRUST LLP, Sadykov A., the trust management company was annually funded from the local budget. More than 1 billion 218 million tenge was allocated for the maintenance of the building and the training of athletes in water sports in the period from 2018 to 2024. In addition, as part of the per capita financing of the state sports order in 2021-2024, the Aquatics Center LLP, which operated in the Central Water Sports Complex, received funds totaling 335 million tenge.In addition, the company has arrears on tax obligations to the budget of more than 111 million tenge. The required amount of fertilizers supplied to the region has been agreed with the domestic fertilizer producer KazAzot JSC, Kazphosphate LLP. Applications for loans for spring field work in the amount of 13 billion tenge have been submitted. To date, applications for 4 billion tenge have been accepted, projects worth 2 billion tenge have been approved, and financing is underway.It is planned to use 25 thousand pieces of equipment for spring field work.
