At a Government meeting chaired by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Olzhas Bektenov, the results of spring field work and issues of further development of the agro-industrial complex were considered. The regional akim, Murat Ergeshbayev, participated in the meeting via videoconference.Following the Government meeting, the head of the region held a special meeting, during which he set a number of important tasks for the heads of responsible sectors.— In recent years, the growing season in our region has been taking place under conditions of serious water resource shortages. In accordance with the instruction of the Head of State to optimize the areas under water-intensive agricultural crops, this year the rice sown area has been reduced by 10,900 hectares compared to last year and amounts to 70 thousand hectares. Work is underway on the freed-up areas to cultivate high-yield crops with lower water consumption. For the diversification of crop production and the introduction of water-saving technologies, financing of over 34 billion tenge has been allocated for the next three years, of which about 10 billion tenge has been allocated this year. In this regard, I instruct the development of a Roadmap for the diversification of sown areas until 2028, — noted Murat Nalkhozhaevich.This year in the region, agricultural crops have been placed on an area of 185.8 thousand hectares, including rice sown on 70 thousand hectares and provided with irrigation. Today, livestock farming accounts for over 30 percent of the total volume of the region's agro-industrial complex products.Since the beginning of the year, 11.7 thousand tons of meat and 13.4 thousand tons of milk have been produced in the region. The 12th meeting of the Parliamentary Commission for Monitoring the Implementation of National Sustainable Development Goals and Objectives of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held today in Atyrau, chaired by Senate Speaker Maulen Ashimbayev. Participants raised issues related to the sustainable management of the aquatic ecosystems of the Caspian Sea and the Zhaiyk River in the context of achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
