EU scientists create filters that will reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere 09.02.2025
ENU scientists are developing filters that reduce harmful emissions into the atmosphere ENU engineering laboratory employees are developing filters that help reduce carbon dioxide emissions into the atmosphere. The filters can be used to control emissions from power plants and factories, which reduces the carbon footprint and improves the environment. The research is funded by the IAEA.“The goal of the project is to develop an innovative technology that will allow combining road membranes (filters) produced in Kazakhstan with metal-organic framework compounds to increase the efficiency of carbon dioxide capture. We are working on creating special layers on the surface and inside the channels of road membranes that retain metal-organic framework compounds and improve their properties. At the end of 2024, the IAEA approved funding for the project for 5 years. As is known, Kazakhstan, having joined the Paris Agreement, is taking active measures to fulfill its obligations to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and introduce innovative environmental technologies, and this project also contributes to compliance with the Paris Agreement,” noted Ilya Korolkov, a doctor at the Eurasian National University. He has been involved in science for about 16 years since his student days. Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/sci/press/news/details/929879
