Works to return unused agricultural land to state ownership in Kostanay region are ongoing. According to the results of the first quarter of 2025, about 43,000 hectares of land were voluntarily returned, including: 10,000 hectares of arable land, 33,000 hectares of grazing land.Land inventory measures allow producers of agricultural goods to identify land plots that are not used in the production process and take necessary measures to optimize economic activity. Voluntary return of such lands contributes to the regulation of land use and prevents the increase of tax rates.According to the current legislation, a 20 times higher base rate of land tax is applied to unused agricultural lands.In 2022-2023, based on the instructions of the Department of Land Resources Management of Kostanay region, tax authorities calculated an additional tax in the amount of 132.5 million tenge, of which 127.8 million tenge went to the state income.
