Future doctors in Karaganda are learning to save lives with the help of smart robot patients 09.02.2025
Students and interns of Karaganda Medical University, as well as experienced doctors of the region, will now have the opportunity to improve their professional skills in new high-tech simulators. Robots that allow you to imagine real situations have arrived at the university's simulation center.
Among them are "Little Pavlik" - a dummy for a premature baby weighing up to 500 grams, "Ares" and "Aria" - larger "children", and the "Lucina" birthing dummy with VR functionality for full monitoring of the birth process.
So far, no medical institution in Kazakhstan has such equipment.
– Now students can see the baby's movements in the mother's womb and understand all the stages of childbirth. This is invaluable experience that will help them in real life, - says Zhanna Amirbekova, head of the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Perinatology of KSU.
The new equipment covers emergency care, anesthesiology-resuscitation and neonatology. And to learn how to work with these robots, a master class on simulation technologies in the fields of obstetrics, neonatology and resuscitation was held at the university. It was conducted by anesthesiologist-resuscitator Anatoly Verevkin from Russia.
- Real simulators allow specialists to constantly work out complex clinical scenarios. This will significantly increase the quality of medical care and the confidence of doctors in real practice, he noted.
The main goal of these technologies is to reduce maternal and child mortality. Doctors and students can work out complex situations in advance and be confident in their actions in emergency situations.
Karaganda Medical University has developed special programs for advanced training in this equipment.
– Every patient wants to be treated by an experienced specialist. But experience is accumulated over time, - says Andrey Buynenko, freelance chief obstetrician-gynecologist of the Health Department. – Doctors do not always face difficult situations at work, and regular training with simulators allows them to maintain and improve important manual skills.
