From April 5, 2025, amendments to the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan will come into force, equating mopeds to motor vehicles. From that date, this vehicle can only be driven after registering it with the police, passing a technical inspection, issuing a motor vehicle insurance policy and having a category A1 driver's license.– For registration, you need to apply to a specialized PSC at your place of residence with identity documents, as well as provide a technical document or information about the vehicle's characteristics. Then you need to fill out an application and pay the state duty, – explained the senior inspector of the administrative police department, police major Azamat Dayrabayev. – Previously purchased mopeds must be brought to a specialized PSC at 5 Mukanov Street, Karaganda, for registration, passing a technical inspection and drawing up all documents.There you can take a practical exam for category A1. All conditions have been created for this: a racetrack and special equipment. The only exception is that exams will be taken only after the snow melts and the track surface dries.Now, a driver's license is mandatory for all moped drivers. The only exception is that if there is category B, then additional documents are not required.In addition, from this day on, amendments to the Code of Administrative Offenses will come into force, which provide for the liability of moped drivers as drivers of vehicles.
