Priority directions for the protection and promotion of the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan have been developed 01.12.2024
In Kazakhstan, the protection of cultural heritage is one of the priorities, especially given its unique and cultural wealth. Thanks to participation in UNESCO Conventions, our country manages to include its cultural sites in the UNESCO lists, thereby declaring its heritage to the world community. But this circumstance requires us to fulfill certain obligations to protect and preserve this heritage. To this end, in August of this year, a working group was established under the chairmanship of Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva, designed to coordinate the efforts of central and local executive authorities, members of the National Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan for UNESCO and ISESCO, as well as scientists, archaeologists, ethnographers and representatives of public associations. This strategic initiative is aimed not only at preserving the world heritage, which includes significant historical and architectural monuments, but also at protecting elements of the intangible cultural heritage, bearers of tradition, rituals, language, music and crafts, as well as documentary heritage. All this plays a fundamental role in shaping cultural identity, strengthening national identity and passing on our values to the next generations.Aida Balayeva emphasized the need for systematic and coordinated work of all interested structures, emphasizing the importance of coordinating efforts for the successful implementation of the tasks set and the implementation of the provisions of the Conventions that effectively preserve the national cultural heritage. To date, two meetings of the working group have already been held, during which the participants have developed and proposed key areas of work necessary for the effective implementation of the protection of cultural heritage.During the meeting held on November 30 in Almaty, the participants presented the work plans of three subgroups, each of which focuses on specific aspects of the protection and popularization of cultural heritage. Thus, among the presented work plans, three key areas are highlighted: the protection and popularization of tangible and intangible cultural heritage, as well as documentary heritage within the framework of the UNESCO Memory of the World program. The plans provide for measures to improve the skills of specialists, develop and implement training modules on methods for identifying and developing intangible cultural heritage. The Minister emphasized that the training should be meaningful and useful, with a focus on practical skills.Among other important areas of work, the members of the working group noted inventory and comprehensive research work. The need to carry out an inventory of tangible and intangible heritage sites, the need to digitize existing data, develop a strategy for popularizing cultural heritage at the international and local levels, nominate new objects and elements to UNESCO Lists.A special aspect is the development of methods for the effective management and protection of UNESCO-protected sites through the active involvement of local authorities and public associations to participate in the protection and promotion of heritage sites, as well as the organization of regular events and awareness-raising campaigns among the local population on the importance of cultural heritage. In general, the work plans presented by the heads of the working groups include a wide range of measures aimed at preserving and popularizing the intangible, tangible and written heritage of our country. These initiatives will be taken into account by the Ministry of Culture and Information for further implementation, which will significantly strengthen the protection and development of Kazakhstan's cultural heritage. Cinema as a mirror of life: the emotional stories of the participants of Eurasia 28.11.2024
What is cinema if not a mirror of our reality? Today's press conference with the contestants of the third day of the XVII Eurasia International Film Festival proved that the best films are those that talk to us about the most important things: memory, loyalty and hope.Ismael Blanco, the cinematographer of the film "The Land of our Mothers" and a participant in an international competition, spoke about endangered Spanish villages where life resembles a struggle for survival. This film is a contrast: between deserted fields and noisy megacities, between the forgotten past and the comfortable present."The residents of these places are unprofessional actors. Their faces and accents tell a story that cannot be invented," he said.Dastan Zhapar Ryskeldi from Kyrgyzstan presented the film "Deal on the Border", inspired by real events, to the competition of the countries of Central Asia and the Turkic world."My brother ended up in slavery. It was 2000, but this continues to this day. We must talk about this for the sake of those who cannot defend themselves," the director stressed. His film is a cry of the soul addressed to the whole of Central Asia, where the problem of slavery is still relevant.Tatar director Salavat Yuzeev, talking about his film production "The Mountain of Lovers", noted that the picture tells about a woman who protects a mountain associated with her oath of love."For her, this mountain is more than nature. This is a symbol of her loyalty and strength of spirit," said Salavat, a participant in the contest of the countries of Central Asia and the Turkic world.Another soulful picture presented in the competition of the countries of Central Asia and the Turkic world is "Joktau".The film made a real splash at the film festival! The hall was crowded, and the audience was queuing to see the film. Director Aruan Anartai dedicated his film to a personal tragedy."When I was writing the script, I was still feeling the loss. Joktau is not only a song of sorrow, it is our culture, our way of talking to those who are no longer there," he admitted. The painting combines personal grief and the greatness of the steppe tradition. The Eurasia Film Festival continues its work, inspiring and uniting people.
