Akim of Almaty Yerbolat Dosayev got acquainted with the construction of water supply and sanitation networks in Zhetysu district during a working detour.Previously, there were no backbone networks in this section. In Soviet times, residents stretched a collective water supply system, and then connected to private networks. Due to the small diameter of the pipes and the growing population, there was a shortage of pressure and, consequently, water. The pipeline, worn out during operation, could not withstand the load, which caused frequent gusts, and intermittent interruptions in water supply.Large-scale construction of new water supply and sanitation networks in Zhetysu district began in March 2023. The total length of engineering networks under the project is 97.75 km: 25.7 km of water supply and 72 km of sewer networks. As of today, the facility is 30% ready. The completion of the work is scheduled for December 2025.The project also provides for the restoration of asphalt pavement on 13 streets along the entire width of the road, work has already been completed on 9 of them: Taimyrskaya, Meshchersky, Shildekhan, February, Ob, Feoktistov, Leonov, Bykovsky, Serikov. Work is underway to restore the 1.5 km long roadway along Burundayskaya and Oktyabrskaya streets. The project was launched in 2017, but was delayed due to the need to purchase 259 land plots. So, the last site was vacated in May of this year. The project involves the construction of 2 tunnels with a total length of 690 meters to ensure uninterrupted traffic along Seifullin Avenue. The passage of vehicles along Zhansugurova Street will be carried out at ground level. There are also 4 aboveground pedestrian crossings, sidewalks and landscaping of the surrounding area. On behalf of Yerbolat Dosayev, a corresponding project was developed and coordinated with the Balkhash-Alakol Basin Inspectorate.The contractor, TOLAGAI–2050 LLP, started mechanical cleaning of the reservoir in March 2023 and was supposed to be completed by September. The deadline for the completion of the project had to be postponed to August of this year, due to the fact that the thickness of the bottom silt turned out to be several times greater than expected during the design (100-120 cm instead of 30 cm). In addition, the timing was affected by the need to build a temporary road along the bottom of the lake for the passage of heavy equipment. Initially, it was planned to carry out cleaning in winter, when the ground freezes.After the completion of the work on cleaning the lake, the temporary road was removed along with the silt. It should be noted that such work was carried out for the first time in the entire existence of the pond. As a result, 53 tons of waste and 10 thousand cubic meters of silt deposits were removed from the bottom of the lake. At the same time, spillway structures were built to regulate the water level and prevent its overflow over the banks.The project allowed to solve a number of problems that the townspeople complained about, first of all, thanks to the cleaning, the ecological balance of the water area and the biodiversity of the reservoir will be restored. During a working detour of the Zhetysu district, Akim of Almaty Yerbolat Dosayev inspected the bridge under construction across the Yesentai River in the Kemel microdistrict. On the sidelines of COP29, the Republic of Kazakhstan held an event "Towards the creation of a global platform for green climate technologies within the framework of the Green Bridge Partnership Program". This important event, organized by the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan (MENR) and the International Center for Green Technologies and Investment Projects (ICTIP), is aimed at discussing an effective mechanism for international transfer of green technologies.Launched in 2011, the PPZM has become a key platform for dialogue on cooperation and technology exchange, bringing together 17 countries such as Albania, Belarus, Bulgaria, Germany, Georgia, Spain, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, the United Arab Emirates, Poland, Russia, Tajikistan, Serbia, Finland, Montenegro, Sweden, as well as international organizations to jointly solve environmental problems. Kazakhstan proposed to give a new impetus to the program and its development, using modern digital solutions, which will significantly simplify cooperation, ensure the exchange of green technologies and contribute to the sustainable development of the participating countries.One of the main speakers of the event was Ms. Armida Salsia Alishahbana, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP), who stressed the need for technological cooperation and the role of digital solutions for the renovation of existing initiatives.Next, Nobel laureate, expert on climate change – Rae Kwon Chung made a presentation on the history of the creation of the Green Bridge Partnership Program (Green Bridge), and the importance of its further promotion. The event was also attended by ministers, international experts, representatives of international organizations such as WIPO Green and CTCN, digital giants (Google), as well as representatives of energy companies and organizations. During the discussions, successful technology transfer models, Kazakhstan's vision of promoting a sustainable economy and creating a global technology platform were presented.The key moment of the event was the official exchange of letters between the MENR, the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry and ESCAP. Meetings of the Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan Ye.Nysanbayeva with E. Zhukov, Director General of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for Central and Western Asia, F. Birol, Executive Director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), and P. Kok-Hamilton, Executive Director of the International Trade Center.During the meeting with ADB, the parties discussed further constructive cooperation in the field of environmental initiatives, the implementation of the climate and energy agenda, including decarbonization and green economy projects.The NDC Advance initiative was also noted, under which ADB provides significant support to Kazakhstan in the development of investment programs and waste management. Large-scale renovation of energy grids, development of transport corridors and modernization of rural regions remain among the priorities.During the meeting with the IEA, the Kazakh side expressed gratitude for the contribution to environmental and energy support. The support provided by the IEA in reducing methane emissions was noted. The importance of moving to concrete actions to reduce methane was emphasized and key challenges were identified, including in terms of financing, regulatory development and data collection.The IEA has offered assistance in terms of sharing experience, expertise and conducting training events for the Kazakh side.The parties expressed their readiness for close cooperation and announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the IEA and preparations for the Regional Climate Summit in 2026.At a bilateral meeting between the Minister and the Executive Director of the International Trade Center (ITC), Pamela Kok-Hamilton, the role of small and medium-sized enterprises in climate change issues, as well as on nationally determined contributions, were discussed.The ITC noted cooperation with international partners, including the Presidency of the Council on Climate Change, and expressed hope for Kazakhstan's accession to the Declaration of Green Transition.At the same time, the Minister noted the insufficient attention of small and medium-sized enterprises in the climate agenda and expressed support for the initiative to join the Declaration.At the end of the meeting, the parties expressed their willingness to cooperate and take joint measures on green financing issues. Abuov – Project Manager of the Asian Development Bank, to discuss prospects for regional cooperation in the field of climate change.The Regional Climate Summit will become a platform for developing joint strategies and solutions to combat climate change.
