An extraordinary XXVII session of the city Maslikhat was held in Almaty. One of the issues on the agenda was the recognition of newly created public transport routes as socially significant in order to make them accessible to the population.Speaking to the deputies of the city Maslikhat, the head of the Almaty mobility department, Sagyndyk Telibayev, noted that a significant part of the suburban population faces the problem of a lack of public transport, which forces them to use private transportation services.“More than 300 thousand vehicles enter the city every day. In order to reduce the high flow of vehicles entering the city and increase the mobility of the city’s residents, the Almaty akimat has organized 147 urban and 54 suburban routes today. Of these, only 178 routes are included in the list of socially significant routes. "In order to ensure the accessibility of the remaining 23 routes for the population, they need to be included in the list of socially significant routes," the head of the department noted.Following the results of the meeting, the deputies supported this proposal.It should be noted that in 2024, on the instructions of Almaty Mayor Yerbolat Dossayev, 20 suburban and 2 urban routes were launched in the city.
