The number of serious crimes in Kazakhstan has significantly decreased 14.02.2025
A meeting of the Public Council was held at the Ministry of Internal Affairs. The results of work on ensuring law and order and security were reviewed. The head of the department, Yerzhan Sadenov, reported to the members of the Public Council on the crime situation in the country. The Minister of Internal Affairs noted that the situation has improved significantly as a result of the comprehensive measures taken in recent years.- The crime rate decreased to 102 thousand, or 11%. Compared to 2023, 12,700 fewer crimes were registered in 2024. If we look at the 90s, then the number of crimes exceeded 200 thousand. But we will not stop there. We aim to reach zero, - the minister said.During the years of independence, the crime rate has decreased significantly. Statistical data confirm this trend and show significant changes in the criminogenic situation. The decrease also applies to serious crimes, including robberies, thefts, rapes and murders. For example, in 1997, 2,594 murders were registered, while last year there were 565.Crimes committed using firearms pose a particular threat to public safety. If 30 years ago the number of such crimes registered per year reached 1.5 thousand, last year this figure decreased to 118.Positive dynamics are also observed in group crimes. In 1992, 18,928 such crimes were registered in Kazakhstan, while in 1994 their number reached 24,712. This period was one of the most difficult times for law enforcement agencies. Criminal groups are active, and the fight against them requires a lot of effort. However, in recent years, their number has decreased significantly. In 2024, the number of crimes committed by groups amounted to 5,588, which is a 4.5-fold decrease. The minister also noted that the types of crimes have changed and adapted to modern technologies.- Fraud is widespread. This accounts for 42% of all crimes. People, seeking to make a profit, invest money in dubious investments and pyramid schemes. The main reasons are the low financial literacy of the population and the lateness of citizens to contact the police. This is a phenomenon typical of many countries, - said the Minister of Internal Affairs.Yerzhan Sadenov noted that the ministry is actively combating this threat, working to improve preventive measures and raise public awareness of cybercrime. The meeting also reviewed the work of the Public Council. The council in its current composition has been operating for three years. During this time, many important steps have been taken to improve the activities of the internal affairs bodies. It should be noted that the interaction of law enforcement agencies and civil society in general plays a crucial role in ensuring security and strengthening law and order in the country.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/qriim/press/news/details/934546

The North Aral Sea is recovering: 1 billion cubic meters of water was sent to revive the Aral Sea, green belts have sprung up 14.02.2025
“The drying up of the Aral Sea and its transformation into a desert is a worrying problem. The region that has suffered an ecological disaster must be rehabilitated. In addition, it is necessary to effectively use the water resources of transboundary rivers. For this, water-saving technologies must be widely used,” said the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. From October 2024 to January of this year, 1 billion cubic meters of water were released into the North Aral Sea. This is 100 million cubic meters more than the planned volume. As a result of agreements reached with the countries of Central Asia, the total volume of water released into the North Aral Sea by the end of March 2025 will reach 1.6 billion cubic meters.Today, the total volume of water in the North Aral Sea is 22.1 billion cubic meters. At the beginning of 2022, it was 18.9 billion cubic meters. By the end of 2025, the volume of water in the sea is expected to reach 23.4 billion cubic meters. The area of the North Aral Sea is also increasing. Today, it has reached 3,065 square kilometers. This is 111 square kilometers more than at the beginning of 2022.The increase in the area and volume of the North Aral Sea has allowed to reduce water mineralization and restore the population of 22 species of fish. The annual catch has reached 8 thousand tons. The project "Preservation of the Kokaral Dam and Restoration of the Syrdarya River Estuaries" is nearing completion. Today, the construction of the "Taur" protective dam, the reconstruction of the dams in two sections between Lake Karashalan and the Syrdarya River, and the "Karachalan-1" canal and its main structure have been completed. It is planned to complete the reconstruction of the Kokaral Dam, which separates the North Aral Sea from the Big Aral Sea, by the end of the year. The implementation of the project will contribute to the preservation of the North Aral Sea and the reduction of water salinity. The use of laser leveling and water-saving technologies in the Kyzylorda region has saved about 200 million cubic meters of water and directed it to the North Aral Sea. 55 thousand hectares of rice fields have been leveled using laser leveling, which has helped to increase the average yield from 40-55 centners per hectare to 70-80 centners. To encourage the introduction of water-saving technologies, the amount of subsidies for farmers for infrastructure construction, purchase and installation of water-saving systems has been increased from 50% to 80%. The amount of subsidies for water supply for farmers using water-saving systems has been increased to 85% depending on the tariff.Planting work is continuing to rehabilitate the area in the Aral Sea basin. Today, 4.4 million seedlings have been planted in the drained territory of the Greater Aral Sea.In the period from 2021 to 2024, seeds and seedlings were planted on 475 thousand hectares. This year, it is planned to carry out greening work on 428 thousand hectares. As a result, by the end of 2025, the total volume of greening of the Aral Sea bed should reach 1.1 million hectares. It should be noted that from January 1, 2024, the chairmanship of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea passed to the Republic of Kazakhstan. Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev was elected President of the IAF until the end of 2026. The work plan of the IAF Executive Committee was approved during the chairmanship of Kazakhstan in 2024-2026. The document includes about 40 events in 10 different areas. The implementation of the President's instructions will provide employment to about 2,000 thousand people. The increase in the volume and area of the North Aral Sea reduces water mineralization, which helps preserve its biological diversity and contributes to the development of the Kyzylorda region's fisheries. The introduction of water-saving technologies and the development of water infrastructure will allow additional water to be pumped into the North Aral Sea, as well as help develop the region's agriculture.Landscaping the drained area of the Aral Sea will prevent soil erosion and help combat sand and salt storms. This will improve the ecological situation in the region and protect the health of local residents. Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/water/press/news/details/934374
High demand for education workers was observed at the EEB in January 14.02.2025
In January, the activity of employers and job seekers on the Electronic Labor Exchange (hereinafter referred to as the ELE) was mixed: if the number of vacancies decreased by 5.2% compared to December of last year, amounting to 98.9 thousand units, then the number of resumes increased by 2.5 times, i.e. to 191.9 thousand units. The largest number of vacancies was posted by enterprises in the field of education (36.8 thousand), other types of services (11.5 thousand) and healthcare (11.1 thousand). At the same time, the demand for highly qualified personnel increased sharply in January - employers posted 16 thousand vacancies (+70%) more than in December. The demand for labor of unskilled workers has decreased more than twice, from 45.7 thousand to 18.8 thousand vacancies. At the same time, on the supply side, the increase in the number of resumes is shown by all skill groups, and unskilled workers posted 60.4 thousand resumes (+338%) more than in December.A positive balance of vacancies is observed in 11 regions compared to December. The largest increase in demand for workers was recorded in the city of Shymkent (by 2.6 thousand vacancies or +86%), Akmola (by 1.5 thousand or +50%) and West Kazakhstan (by 1.5 thousand or +46%) regions. The largest decrease in demand was observed in Turkestan (11.2 thousand vacancies or -63%), Aktobe (-2.3 thousand, or -36%) and Zhambyl (-1.7 thousand, or -30%) regions. As a result of the growth of offers on the labor market in January, a surplus of resumes was formed in almost all regions of the country. It was especially noticeable in Turkestan (6.5 thousand vacancies and 25 thousand resumes), Kyzylorda (2.3 thousand vacancies and 14.3 thousand resumes), Zhambyl (4 thousand vacancies and 10.3 thousand resumes) and Mangistau (3.4 thousand vacancies and 12.7 thousand resumes) regions.Among qualified personnel, educators (2.1 thousand vacancies), drivers and mathematics teachers (1.9 thousand vacancies) were in demand. Demand for such specialties as social worker (+1.1 thousand vacancies) and social educator in education (+625 vacancies) increased. The ranks of scarce specialists were replenished by mathematics teachers, who posted a total of 529 resumes, as well as social educators (173 resumes) and school psychologists (1 thousand vacancies with 262 resumes).Employers offered the highest average salaries among applicants for the positions of site manager in the manufacturing industry (from 741 thousand tenge), aviation engineer (~693 thousand tenge) and chief builder (~605 thousand tenge), while among job seekers the highest salaries were requested by applicants for the positions of deputy department head in the manufacturing industry (on average 1.1 million tenge), pilot (~1.1 million tenge), as well as head of the material and production assets accounting department (~1 million tenge). Thus, in January, while vacancies decreased in the EEB There was a significant increase in the number of resumes. This may be because employers have not yet intensified their hiring process at the beginning of the year, while many job seekers, on the contrary, begin looking for a new job from January. Despite the surplus of resumes in many specialties, there was a shortage of personnel in some positions.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/enbek/press/news/details/934072
