This day was established in order to raise awareness among the population and the medical community about the need for timely diagnosis and treatment, as well as the achievements and problems of pediatric oncology. This day also reminds us of the importance of uniting the efforts of medical professionals, public and charitable foundations in the fight against this serious disease.Every year, 600 children in Kazakhstan are diagnosed with cancer for the first time. The use of modern treatment methods allows us to increase the survival rate of children with cancer. One of the effective methods of treating childhood cancer is hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. When a patient needs a transplant, the first thing to do is to look for a donor among relatives. However, the chance of finding a person with a suitable genotype is only 1 in 10,000 cases. Therefore, the development of bone marrow donation is of great importance for the treatment of children with cancer.Every blood donation can be a lifesaver for young patients with oncohematology.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/dsm/press/news/details/929799
