The Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov considered the issues of municipal and industrial waste management. The region's akim Nurlybek Nalibayev took part in the meeting via videoconference.There are 24 business entities in the region that manage municipal and industrial waste. Last year, 91 thousand tons of 303 thousand tons of municipal waste were recycled, and 107 thousand tons of 135 thousand tons of industrial waste were recycled. In accordance with the instruction of the Head of State on the construction of solid municipal waste processing plants in large cities of the republic, joint work is currently underway with Zhasyl Damu JSC. In the field of solid municipal waste management, it is planned to implement nine projects with a total cost of more than KZT 42.5 billion.Three projects worth KZT 41.2 billion are currently being implemented in the regional center, and engineering infrastructure has been installed. Construction of a plant for sorting, processing and recycling of household waste using South Korean technology worth over KZT 9.5 billion has begun. The plant plans to sort 300 thousand tons of waste per year and generate electricity by burning the remaining waste. From March 24 to 27, Kyzylorda region Art Days are being held in Finland, Estonia and Spain as part of the Nauryz celebration. A meeting of the national headquarters to coordinate flood prevention and response efforts took place today, chaired by Kazakhstan's Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov. Currently, the Shardara reservoir is releasing 500 cubic meters of water per second into the lower Syrdarya River, with 200 cubic meters directed to the Koksarai water regulator, while the region is receiving 378 cubic meters per second. A comprehensive strategy to mitigate potential flooding has been established, along with a plan for managing large water flows in the Syrdarya during the winter-spring season of 2024-2025.The river's water levels are controlled by channeling it into a network of main canals and lakes. Designated agencies, equipped with specialized tools and resources, have been assigned to flood-prone areas. Essential flood management equipment and evacuation sites have been set up, with local authorities, emergency services, and water management experts on constant alert.The regional budget has allocated KZT 139 million, and two helicopters are on standby as per an agreement with JSC Kazaviakutkaru. In accordance with the Head of State's instructions, the Government is implementing projects to build essential infrastructure using assets that were illegally withdrawn but have been returned to the country.A decision has been made to allocate about KZT 4.2 billion from the Special State Fund for the construction and modernization of water supply systems in the Aral district of the Kyzylorda region.To provide centralized water supply to the villages of Tokabai and Abai, which have a combined population of over 3 000 people, a connection line to the Aral -Tokabai-Abay main line of the Aral-Sarybulak group water supply is being built. This project began in 2021, and an additional KZT 3.7 billion is needed for its completion. The decision to allocate these funds has already been made, and the facility is expected to be operational by the end of 2025.In the village of Akbasty, home to about 400 residents, the construction of a connection line to the Kosman-Akbasty main line of the Aral-Sarybulak group water supply is nearing completion. The project's cost is approximately KZT 2.4 billion, with KZT 1.8 billion already spent. The remaining KZT 524 million has been allocated from the Special State Fund, and the facility is scheduled to be launched this year.
