AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY SCIENTISTS DEVELOPED INNOVATIVE WATER FILTERS 01.02.2025
AMANZHOLOV UNIVERSITY SCIENTISTS DEVELOP INNOVATIVE WATER FILTERSThe head of state has repeatedly noted the need to modernize the wastewater treatment infrastructure and solve the problem of water pollution. Scientists from the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University have developed innovative domestic water filters for domestic and industrial purposes.Recently, the S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University purchased L-BW 380 equipment for the production of water purification filters worth 125,000,000 tenge. The new equipment will allow the production of high-quality housings for filters.According to scientists, it is planned to launch the product on the market within a year. During this time, a group of scientists will need to receive technical training and prepare a workplace for the production of filters. The project “Production of composite filter materials for the purification of water bodies” is aimed at solving one of the most pressing problems in the world - the low quality of drinking water. Scientists at the East Kazakhstan University will launch the production of filtering composite sorbents modified with graphite oxide based on biopolymers, ceramic and carbon materials. They will also assemble them in the form of cartridges and manufacture their housings at the university. In the near future, water purified from heavy metals, microorganisms and organic compounds will be available to Kazakhstanis. The first domestic filter is cheaper than Russian analogues. And a household filter will last 4-5 months.- About 70% of surface water bodies in the country are polluted. This situation is especially aggravated by industrial enterprises in the East Kazakhstan and Pavlodar regions. About 20% of wastewater from industrial sources is discharged directly into water bodies without treatment. I believe that this problem can be solved with the help of the advanced treatment devices we have proposed, - said the project leader, senior researcher at the university, Tlek Kuanyshbekov. The S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University is making a significant contribution to the protection of water resources. Two years ago, the educational program "Hydroecology, Management and Transboundary Water Security" was introduced. Its main goal is to train specialists who can use geoinformation methods in monitoring hydro resources and manage water resources in accordance with environmental norms and standards of rational use. Thus, the EKU is training a reserve of hydrologists, hydrochemists, mudflow specialists, glaciologists, and GIS specialists in nature management.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/sci/press/news/details/929253

Digital Almaty Forum Demonstrates Integration of Reliable Third-Party Segments for EAEU Countries 01.02.2025
The first integration of trusted third party segments of the member countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) was demonstrated at the annual Digital Almaty 2025 forum. The technology aims to provide secure and legitimate interstate verification of electronic signatures.Trusted Third Party of the Republic of Kazakhstan (TTP RK) is an information system confirming authenticity of electronic signatures, including foreign ones, on Kazakhstan territory. It is the TTP that ensures the authenticity of a digital signature (DS) during cross-border electronic interaction between the information systems of the participating countries. The introduction of cross-border DS will help to significantly reduce the cost of paperwork and the time required to sign and confirm international transactions. The technology is also expected to increase trust in electronic and international transactions, which in turn will contribute to the further development of the economies of the EAEU countries.During the demonstration, the operators from the Republic of Armenia, the Republic of Belarus, the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation reported on the readiness of the national segments of the trusted third party for commercial operation and interstate testing.During the integration demonstration, the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, Bakhytzhan Sagintayev, noted that the technology of mutual recognition of electronic signatures within the EAEU would help speed up business processes, simplify the flow of documents and improve the security of transactions between the countries of the Union. The development of digital technologies will remain a priority in the coming years, and further expansion of the use of DS will have a significant impact on strengthening international trade and economic ties. Digital Experts discuss benefits and risks of artificial intelligence at Almaty-2025 forum 01.02.2025
"AI and humans: threat or benefit?" - this question was asked by leading experts in the field of artificial intelligence at a panel session held at the Digital Almaty-2025 forum, where they discussed the main issues of ethics, security, and regulation of AI.Experts considered important aspects of the transparency and security of the use of AI in Kazakhstan, control over its use, and international practices aimed at maintaining ethical standards. During the discussion, both the advantages and potential risks of artificial intelligence were discussed.According to the speakers, along with the spread of artificial intelligence in Kazakhstan, the risk of violating the confidentiality of personal data is also increasing. This causes significant harm to both individual users and the state as a whole. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2024, Kazakhstanis lost 45 billion tenge due to online fraud, and in 98% of cases they voluntarily gave their personal data to fraudsters."Cybercrime is growing rapidly not only in Kazakhstan, but also around the world. If we are not prepared for new threats, artificial intelligence will also provide criminals with significant opportunities. Fraudsters are already using deepfake technologies to fake video and audio recordings, which poses a significant threat to information security. It is important to think about deanonymization on the Internet, because everyone must be responsible for the data they distribute," said Saken Sarsenov, Vice Minister of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The session participants included experts from various countries, including Toju Duke (Great Britain), founder and CEO of Bedrock AI and Diverse AI. He not only manages successful AI companies, but also actively promotes ethical standards in the development of artificial intelligence. In his book "Building Responsible AI Algorithms", he proposed a framework for transparency, fairness, confidentiality and trust in AI algorithms."Artificial intelligence is developing rapidly and offers many advantages, but only until it is equally accessible to society. The main areas of its application include combating hunger and improving healthcare, responding to crisis situations, increasing security, and supporting people with disabilities. However, it also poses significant risks, such as social inequality, privacy violations, algorithmic bias, and even threats to national security. Therefore, in order for the technology to benefit society as a whole, it is important to develop a responsible approach to the use of artificial intelligence, develop mechanisms for transparency, accountability and compliance with ethical standards," Toju Duke noted. The discussion was also attended by Dauren Makenov, Head of Flowsell.me, Alexander Krainov, Head of Yandex Machine Intelligence Lab, Ivan Kononov, Technical Director of Kscooters, and Damir Zharimbetov, Director of TargetAI Limited. The session was moderated by Igor Rogov, Chairman of the Human Rights Commission under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The speakers emphasized the need to introduce clear principles of regulation for the safe and effective development of AI, including data processing control, protection from manipulation, and reduction of negative impact on energy resources. It is also important to ensure the fairness of algorithms, eliminate discriminatory mechanisms, and develop reliable systems for testing AI before mass introduction. The speakers raised such important topics as training specialists to work with AI and the impact of technology on culture, media, and communications. In addition, the speakers discussed the changing labor market: will AI threaten traditional employment or become a tool that complements human efforts? The importance of maintaining a balance between automation and the human component was noted.Recall that from January 31 to February 1, the Digital Almaty-2025 International Forum will be held in Almaty at the Atakent exhibition complex.
