Kazakhstan has the opportunity to increase grain supplies to Asian countries 16.11.2024
At a Government meeting chaired by Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov, Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Kairat Torebayev reported on Kazakhstan's export potential for grain. He said that Kazakhstan's export potential for cereals is estimated at 12 million tons, of which 7-7.5 million tons are wheat, 1.4 million tons for barley, and 300 thousand tons for corn. The potential for oilseeds is estimated at more than 1 million tons. "Kazakhstan will continue to supply the markets of Central Asia and Afghanistan, which is about 4.2 million tons. In general, grain exports to China amounted to 1.43 million tons in 2023, showing an increase of 5.5 times year—on-year," Kairat Torebayev said. The Vice Minister also noted that wheat exports to China increased significantly, reaching 538.8 thousand tons in 2023, which is almost 15 times higher than the previous year. "This demonstrates the possibility of increasing supplies to China and Asian countries to 1.6 million tons of wheat. It is important to work out the issue of delays at the border due to the requirements of Chinese authorities, as well as difficult conditions such as licenses and quotas for the import of Kazakh grain in China," Kairat Torebayev added. The Vice Minister also noted that in the context of increasing global demand and decreasing harvests in a number of countries, the market of the European Union countries, such as Italy, Latvia, Spain, is interesting. The export potential to Turkey and the Middle East countries is almost 1 million tons of wheat. "It is important to restore supplies to the Iranian market, we are now seeing dynamics in barley, trade finance and logistics issues will be worked out. Work will be intensified to promote the Kazakh wheat brand in new markets such as Pakistan, Indonesia, Brazil, Malaysia, where import growth is projected," Kairat Torebayev stressed. The Ministry, together with the Food Corporation, has prepared country proposals (offers) indicating logistics routes and export prices. Negotiations were held and preliminary agreements were reached on the markets of Armenia – 600 thousand tons, Italy – 1 million tons. Negotiations are underway on exports to the countries of North Africa – 200 thousand tons."In general, given the policy of increasing the level of complexity of exported products, it is important to pay attention to grain processing. This may become a solution to many export problems in the future," Kairat Torebayev explained.Source: https://primeminister.kz/ru/news/kazakhstan-imeet-vozmozhnost-narashchivaniya-postavok-zerna-v-aziatskie-strany-29219 Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mti/press/news/details/870233

The consolidation of this norm in the EAEU Treaty will help to influence unscrupulous participants and support conscientious ones," Janelle Kushukova explained during the meeting. The initiative of the Kazakh side to consolidate this norm on the appeal of an economic entity with a claim for damages to the court of the EAEU member state was generally supported by Maxim Ermolovich, a member of the EEC Board. In the near future, the Eurasian Economic Commission will begin to develop appropriate amendments to the EAEU Treaty.Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mti/press/news/details/870477

Kazakhstan maintains one of the lowest growth rates of food prices among the EAEU countries 16.11.2024
According to the Eurasian Economic Commission, Kazakhstan ranked second after Armenia in terms of low growth rates of food prices in 9 months. In Kazakhstan, this figure was 2.9%, in Russia 4.5%, in Belarus 3.7%.In September, annual inflation in Kazakhstan slowed to 8.3%, and the growth rate of food prices decreased to 5.1% in annual terms. At the end of 9 months, food prices remained stable compared to August. There is a decrease in the index for 7 products, including: carrots, rice, eggs, cabbage, buckwheat, sunflower oil and flour. To stabilize prices, the Ministry of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan implements support measures, including:- priority financing for NWT that supports domestic production;- commodity interventions in the off-season period;- control of the marginal trade allowance;- strengthening the analysis of pricing chains to exclude intermediaries;- development of modern trade formats and infrastructure.Since the beginning of the year, the territorial divisions of MIT have issued 4,014 administrative decisions for exceeding the trade allowance. This includes 667 fines and more than 3.3 thousand warnings in the amount of 25 million tenge. In comparison with the same period last year, the number of resolutions has increased 4 times, which indicates the effectiveness of control by the Ministry. An important tool for detecting violations is the analysis of electronic invoices (e-invoices). In just six months, 8,9 thousand food supply chains have been analyzed, and more than 3 thousand risks of violations of trade legislation have been identified.Amendments to the Administrative Code have been developed to tighten administrative penalties for exceeding the trade allowance. In particular, it is proposed to replace the warning with a fine from 5 to 150 MCI for the first violation, depending on the subjectivity.Regional commissions are actively working on the ground to investigate mediation schemes. Since the beginning of the year, 1,169 commission meetings have been held, and about 3.2 thousand facts of unproductive mediation and excess of the trade premium have been revealed. At the same time, explanatory work is being conducted with entrepreneurs and individuals. As a result of the comprehensive work, we observe a decrease in the prices of NWT on the shelves from 5 to 30%.In order to prevent an increase in the price of eggs, memoranda on mutual cooperation on price stabilization were signed between MIT and the Union of Poultry Farmers of Kazakhstan, the Association of Egg Producers to fix the upper limits of egg prices by the end of this year. In turn, in order to support domestic egg producers, a restriction on the import of eggs by motor transport has been introduced from May 1 this year for a period of 6 months. In order to protect the domestic market, in connection with the restrictive measures imposed on sugar exports by Russia, from June 14 to August 31 this year, a ban was imposed on sugar exports from the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the EAEU member states and third countries.A memorandum was also signed with the Union of Retail Chains of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the adoption of joint measures aimed at increasing the share of domestic goods on the shelves of retail chains and promoting the development of domestic production.https://eec.eaeunion.org/upload/files/dep_stat/econstat/Express_CPI/Expressinflation202409_%D0%A0.pdSource : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/mti/press/news/details/873711
