The Akimat of Karaganda installed carbon monoxide sensors for free in the houses and apartments of residents from socially vulnerable categories – large families, people with disabilities, veterans of the Great Patriotic War and others. Together with the emergency department, 1838 devices have been installed."Modern sensors are compact, battery-powered and easily mounted to a wall or ceiling. This is especially important at night, when people are asleep and cannot notice signs of intoxication. Even low doses of carbon monoxide can cause headaches, dizziness and nausea, while higher doses can lead to serious poisoning and death. Children and the elderly are particularly vulnerable.
