Higher education without borders: Karaganda school graduates got acquainted with branches of foreign universities 01.02.2025
The President of the Republic of Kazakhstan noted the importance of establishing branches of foreign universities in the country in order to turn Kazakhstan into an educational hub of Central Asia.As part of this initiative, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N.A. held a branch of foreign universities in the city of Karaganda. It is designed to help in conducting career guidance work with school graduates.Branches of foreign universities are being opened taking into account the needs of the regions for certain specialists.— Currently, strategic partnerships have been established with 23 foreign universities, and negotiations are underway with 11 more, — said Ruslan Emelbayev, Advisor to the Minister of Science and Higher Education. — This opens up new prospects for Kazakhstani youth. After all, education at such universities meets international standards and is also supported by state grants. By passing the UNT and entrance exams of these universities, you can get a popular specialty for free. This year, 2,000 grants were allocated for training at branches. This practice will continue in the next academic year. The most popular among applicants was the Scottish Heriot-Watt University, which has been operating on the basis of Zhubanov University in Aktobe since 2022. Currently, the university has about 600 students, and the university itself attracts graduates with its high rating and affordable admission conditions.— To enter Heriot-Watt University, UNT results are sufficient, and English language proficiency is confirmed by an internal exam. IELTS exam instead. This significantly simplifies the admission process for Kazakhstani applicants. In addition, our students have the opportunity to study at the university's branches in Malaysia, Dubai and Edinburgh, which opens up wide opportunities for experience exchange, says Askarbek Imansheev, a representative of Zhubanov University.Third year branch. A professor from the University of Economics works at Shakarim University in Bydgoszcz (Poland), where he trains sports and recreation managers.“Today, this is a very popular specialty,” says Madina Zhylgeldinova, a representative of the university. — The first year of study will be held in a distance learning format. And in the second year, it is planned to go to Poland and study offline. And the third year is again in Kazakhstan. Graduates will receive two diplomas at the same time, one of which is of European standard. The exhibition aroused great interest among schoolchildren and their parents.“I learned about the double diploma program and opportunities that I had not heard of before,” said 11th grade student Anar Alzhappar. — It was especially useful to get acquainted with universities offering programs in physics and mathematics. Now I understand better which way to go next. The organizers are the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan in conjunction with the Akimat of the Karaganda region. The Head of State noted the need to create an international air hub. Karaganda airport can play its role here: investors plan to build a cargo terminal for the transportation of up to 50 thousand tons of cargo annually. The airport already serves cargo flights from Ecuador, the Netherlands, Belgium and Southeast Asia. It is planned to increase the number of technical landings of aircraft on the China-Europe-China route. As for the introduction of artificial intelligence, it was proposed to use electronic assistants to advise citizens on the services of state bodies. In the housing and communal services sector, the modernization and construction of new networks will continue.
